“ANC told to take action against ‘growing ISIS threat’ in South Africa”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/will-isis-attack-south-africa-mozambique-latest-news-updates/

Is South Africa facing a serious threat from ISIS? An opposition party has implored the ANC to tighten up the borders and 'keep out extremists'.

The SA government has been asked to ‘beef up its border security’ and take the threat from ISIS seriously, following a brutal week of Islamic terror attacks across the way in Mozambique. With reports claiming that some recruits within the extremist group are South African, there are now concerns that this issue could be more insidious than first feared.

Heavily armed militants began the siege on Mozambique’s northern province of Cabo Delgado on Wednesday 24 March, forcing around 200 people to evacuate a hotel where they had taken refuge. Gas giants Total said on Saturday that it has postponed the restart of work at in the region, following the violent scenes that unfolded.

Dozens of deaths were reported in the conflict, spooking some political representatives in Mzansi. The FF Plus are fearful that ISIS ‘already has a foothold’ on our shores – and feel that international collaboration is needed with Mozambique.

 – A group of South Africans were targeted by insurgents in Palma earlier this week.

 – One SA national was killed in the violence, and repatriated to Mzansi yesterday.

 – A report from the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) claims ISIS ‘are now recruiting in South Africa’. https://issafrica.org/iss-today/how-serious-is-the-islamic-state-threat-to-attack-south-africa

 – It’s also understood that a number of South Africans are implicated in the recent attacks in Mozambique.

Corné Mulder is the FF Plus’ spokesperson on International Affairs. He stated on Wednesday that the fight to repel ISIS ideology spreading across South Africa must begin at the borders, which are in ‘serious need’ of repair.

“There are many signs that the terror group ISIS already has a foothold in South Africa and it would be irresponsible of the ANC government not to take decisive action against this threat. Thus, the FF Plus is calling on Naledi Pandor, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, to engage with the Mozambique government to discuss the matter.”

“The ANC must seriously focus on, among other things, the country’s borders and how to avert the risk there as a frontline defence. Unfortunately, it is a well-known and alarming fact that South Africa’s borders are permeable and the country’s intelligence services have drastically deteriorated – as it was recently mostly employed for ANC infighting.”

“The Southern African Development Community wants what it calls a proportionate regional response, to the terrorist attacks in northern Mozambique. It comes after a meeting of six southern African presidents, including Cyril Ramaphosa, in Maputo this afternoon. The leaders have condemned the insurgent attacks, adding that there will be an immediate technical response to the country.”

Noteworthy statement;

4:26 – “The Minister of International Relations saying, it appears that their attacks are coordinated sophisticated but also backed by funding and a supply of modern weaponry compared to you know just machetes.”

Response – “Yes absolutely, we saw all sorts of automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades in the Palma attacks and this group is getting much more organized. They’re getting funding from somewhere. I mean the other thing about Mozambique is that it’s notorious for smuggling. Everything from diamonds and rubies to timber and to people and ivory and… heroin of course and there’s a lot of that activity on the coastline makes this a very complicated situation. Along with a population that has long been neglected and underdeveloped so it’s a bit of a toxic mix and it’s not an easy one to solve.”

“13-years on, Judge President Hlophe found guilty of gross misconduct” [regarding Jacob Zuma case]- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/judge-president-john-hlophe-western-cape-misconduct-guilty-zuma-scorpions-sunday-11-april/

After persistent delays and postponements spanning over 13-years, South Africa’s Judicial Conduct Tribunal has finally determined that Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe is guilty of attempting to sway two Constitutional Court judges to rule in favour of former President Jacob Zuma in his 2008 challenge against the seizure of nearly 100 000 documents now being used as evidence against him.

The Tribunal, which was headed by the retired Judge Joop Labuschagne, as well as Judge Tati Makgoka, a Judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal, and Nishani Pather, a practising attorney, unanimously concluded that after over a decade of back-and-forth testimony and challenges, Hlophe was guilty of gross misconduct as envisaged in section 177 of the Constitution.

HLOPHE ‘THREATENED THE INTEGRITY OF THE CONCOURT’

Hlophe was accused in 2008 of trying to convince judges Chis Jaftha and Bess Nkabinde to violate the terms of their office and rule in favour of Zuma as he took on the Scorpions (now the Hawks) after they seized some 93 000 documents relating to allegations of corruption.

Both Jaftha and Nkabinde testified that Hlophe had acted improperly, but persistent challenges to evidence submissions and claims of persecution led to the case being perpetually delayed as Hlophe continued in his role at the head of the Western Cape’s judiciary.

In its report, released on Saturday 10 April 2020, the Tribunal “unanimously found that on an objective and proper consideration of the facts and probabilities”:

  • Judge President Hlophe’s conduct breached the provision of section 165 of the Constitution in that he improperly attempted to influence the two Justices of the Constitutional Court to violate their oaths of office;

  • His conduct seriously threatened and interfered with the independence, impartiality, dignity and effectiveness of the Constitutional Court; and

  • His conduct threatened public confidence in the judicial system.

JSC TO REVIEW FINDINGS

The Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will now receive the report and determine the next course of action, which would likely see impeachment processes instigated against Hlophe.

Further probes against Hlophe have been demanded by various judicial institutions, with the Judge President also implicated in accusations of misconduct relating to Deputy President of the Western Cape High Court, Patricia Goliath, who filed a complaint against him in January 2020.

“Nearly 35% of SA’s senior government officials not qualified for their job”- https://www.iol.co.za/news/politics/nearly-35-of-sas-senior-government-officials-not-qualified-for-their-job-48b24d31-2a60-43ce-8050-7d140d5783c9

Cape Town – The DA intends writing to the standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) to urge an investigation regarding the fact that nearly 35% of senior managers employed by national and provincial departments do not have the required qualifications and credentials for the positions they occupy.

The main culprits are the departments of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development with 227, Police with 228, Justice and Constitutional Development with 189, Trade, Industry and Competition with 128, and Environment, Forestry and Fisheries with 107, DA public enterprises spokesperson Michele Clarke said in a statement on Monday.

Minister of Public Service and Administration Senzo Mchunu had revealed in a written response to a parliamentary question posed by the DA that of the 9 477 senior managers listed on the Personal and Salary System, 3 301 do not have the required qualifications. Of these, 1 987 officials are employed in national departments.

Middle management positions in national government typically pays between R779 802 and R922 750, with senior management earning between R1 078 267 and R1 974 067, depending on their level of employment.

Clarke said: ’’How much longer must South Africa suffer under this incompetence? Some of these are key to the country’s economic and food security, yet cadre deployment is more important to the ANC government than good governance and the well-being of its people.

’’South Africa won’t survive if this trend of cadre deployment continues much longer. Ordinary South Africans have suffered under this corruption en masse for years and unless urgent action is taken the country will devolve into the banana republic some already view us as.

’’The DA’s End Cadre Deployment Bill (formally called the Public Administration Laws General Amendment Bill) seeks to enforce the appointment of civil servants to be wholly based on merit and not political loyalty. “Watch: Now MK military veteran protest blocks N2 and N3”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/now-mk-military-veteran-protest-blocks-n2-and-n3-traffic/

MK Military veterans blocked the N3 as they headed to the KZN legislature to hand over a list of demands to the government.

A group of angry uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) military veterans who are on their way to deliver a memorandum of demands to the provincial legislature in Pietermaritzburg blocked the N2 and N3 freeways near Durban on Wednesday.

A video of scores of MK veterans protesting on the freeway is doing the rounds on social media. The video depicts the veterans’ vehicles parked on the freeway and protestors crouching and singing on the road, with traffic backed up behind them. The protestors eventually moved on driving at 40km per hour in convey as they head to the KZN Legislature in Pietermaritzburg.

KZN Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane said road traffic police had been closely monitoring the cavalcade.

MK Military Veterans KZN convenor Zibuse Cele said:

“According to my knowledge they are supposed to go to Pietermaritzburg to submit a memorandum of demands. The government has made a lot of promises to us but they failed to meet our demands,” Cele said.

The veterans had earlier demanded improved living conditions, jobs, housing and medical care from the government.

The MK veterans had also called for the government to integrate former combatants into the country’s various law enforcement agencies. This included the SAPS, SANDF, metro police, Correctional Services, SA Secret Service, and the country’s Border Management Agency. They had also previously demanded employment in state owned enterprises, such as Transnet, Eskom, SAA and Prasa.

Citing the Military Veterans Act the veterans earlier said that they also wanted the government to provide them with business and empowerment opportunities.

uMkhonto we Sizwe was the armed wing of the African National Congress during the struggle against apartheid. For SA president Nelson Mandela co-founded the organisation following the Sharpeville massacre. Their aim was to fight against the former apartheid regime that ruled the country.

“Zuma's legal team quits, files notice of withdrawal with court”- https://youtu.be/PzwmpKYepRc

“Jacob Zuma’s legal team resigns weeks before his corruption trial in May” - https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/jacob-zumas-legal-team-resigns-mabuza-attorneys-corruption-trial-17-may-2021/

Jacob Zuma's legal representatives Mabuza Attorneys resigned on Wednesday. The former president's corruption trial starts next month.

Jacob Zuma, the former president of South Africa, finds himself without a legal defence mere weeks before his corruption trial, which is scheduled to start on 17 May, at the Pietermaritzburg High Court, according to reports.

Zuma’s legal representatives, Mabuza Attorneys submitted a notice of withdrawal as attorneys of record to the High Court of South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Division in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday, 21 April, 2021.

“Be pleased to take notice that Mabuza Attorneys hereby withdraw as the attorneys of record for Accused No.1.,” reads the court documents.

The first accused, according to the document in question, is Jacob Gedleyhlekisa Zuma. Attorney Eric Mabuza refused to give a reason for his decision to stop representing Zuma, according to News24.

Mabuza’s withdrawal has effectively nixed Zuma’s entire legal team for the forthcoming corruption trial, including advocate Muzi Sikhakhane.

Zuma’s latest legal setback comes just a week after the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) dismissed his appeal on Tuesday 13 April, and ruled that he is liable for his own legal fees, which amount to approximately R25 million.

Judge Aubrey Ledwaba said, it is in the public interest that charges relating to the abuse of public office, corruption and fraud are prosecuted to ensure accountability, the promotion of good governance, the protection of the rule of law and advancement of the rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights.”

CORRUPTION TRIAL TO TAKE PLACE NEXT MONTH

Zuma’s forthcoming corruption trial is related to an arms deal with French company Thales. The company allegedly agreed to pay the former president R500 000 per year in exchange for protection from investigations into the country’s shadowy history with arms deals.

Besides the protection bribe, Zuma also faces charges related to his old buddy, former financial advisor Schabir Shaik. Zuma stands accused of receiving millions in payments and benefits from Shaik in exchange for giving his business interests a helping hand.

The truth is coming out!!!

1:34 – “The funds was established in a period of time between the 1st of January, 1966, and the end of 1968. All the banks that was active all the licenses was active at the time was awarded a portion of this money which created the capital accounts which they then used… for trade and to do business of a bank. And on the 1st of January 1966, the 100 000 tons of gold was received at the Reserve Bank according to the statements and confirmed by the Committee of 300 minutes. So it was the first deposit to back all this money.”

2:56 – “The Reserve Bank is an institution that is dead. It’s not the Reserve Bank that is committing the crimes. It is a syndicate in the Reserve Bank that is committing the crimes. So I think that if you want to report properly, we should name the syndicate and not the Reserve Bank. The Reserve Bank had a function to fulfill and the syndicate in the Reserve Bank made sure that this function could not be fulfilled. And if you now connect the dots… that comrade Sexwale said, the money or the gold was received on the 1st of January 1966 and Verwoerd was killed in September 1966 and not by the black people of South Africa, not by the ANC, but by the international banker syndicate which is well known. So that shows you how vast the influences of this international crime syndicate.”

“Government official and wife arrested after alleged rape of young girls”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/government-official-wife-arrested-rape-of-young-girls-mpumalanga-gauteng-municipality-sexual-assault-saps/

Horrific reports have emerged that the Gauteng Municipal Director and his wife repeatedly raped and abused two young girls for several years.

Police have confirmed that a “49-year-old senior Government official and his wife” have been taken into custody and charged with the rape of two minors in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, with disturbing details emerging about a heinous period of abuse spanning several years.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) declined to name the government official, but said that the man is director of one of Gauteng’s many Municipalities and is the uncle of the children who were sexually assaulted. His wife is 36-years-old and is alleged to have masterminded a sinister plot to lure the girls away from their home in Mozambique to their home where they were repeatedly raped by both adults.

‘GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL AND WIFE’ ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH RAPE

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said in a statement on Sunday 25 April that the government affiliated couple’s alleged wrongdoing was brought to the attention of police by a member of the public who learnt of the horrific situation when the two girls were able to escape the house and desperately seek help.

“A senior Local Government official and his wife are expected to appear before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Monday, facing a case of rape involving two minors aged between 13 and 15-year-old. The 49-year-old suspect who is the uncle to the minors, is employed as a Director at a certain municipality in Gauteng,” he said.

“It is alleged that his 36-year-old wife, hereinafter referred to as an aunt to the victims, forced the victims to have sexual intercourse with her husband in exchange for meals. The suspects were eventually exposed by a concerned citizen which led to the man as well his wife brought to book on Friday 23 April 2021.”

ABUSE PERSISTED OVER SEVERAL YEARS

Mdhuli said that the sexual abuse occurred between 2019 and 2020 with the two girls – who are cousins – having reportedly been “lured from Mozambique by their aunt under false pretence that they were going to receive a better education in South Africa”.

“When they arrived in the country, they were allegedly subjected into rape, as well as gross human violations. According to allegations, the girls were literally kept as slaves by their own aunt and uncle in a house at Shatale near Bushbuckridge, which was supposed to be a warm home for them,” he said.

Mdhuli said that the sequence of events indicate that their aunt would often force the girls to engage in sexual acts with her husband, and the terrible allegations suggest that when the girls refused to obey, “they would be severely assaulted and starved”.

“When the elder girl narrated the ordeal, she said one night she hid herself inside a wardrobe out of fear and for those few hours, she was at least safe. However her freedom was short-lived as in the next morning, she was severely assaulted and sadly no one came to her rescue,” said Mdhuli.

CHILDREN ESCAPE HOUSE OF HORRORS

According to the statements provided by the young girls, their families in Mozambique were oblivious to the evils being committed against their children, with the accused couple ensuring that communication was at best limited and always strictly monitored.

Mdhuli said that the girls finally brought the ordeal to an end this week though, seizing a brief window of opportunity to escape while the man and his wife were out of the house momentarily. They then got a chance to sneak out of the house and were able to report the matter to a good samaritan who in turn alerted police.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the girls were illegally brought into the country without proper documentations hence an additional charge of contravention of the Immigration Act was added. The suspects are also facing a charge of human trafficking as well as conspiracy to commit crime,” he said.

Thereafter, police – in collaboration with the Department of Social Development – removed the children to a place of safety where they will receive all care needed.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Major General Thulani Phahla, voiced his deepest concern over the terrible crimes allegedly committed against the girls.

”This alleged incident shows a degree of moral decay in our society. Adults should protect children not abuse them, however, be that as it may, the law will definitely take its course, ” said Phahla.

“EU threatens sanctions on South Sudan peace violators: Dr Jok Madut Jok”- https://youtu.be/TEIhk7MAfNc. Good discussion.

“South Sudan is yet to fully implement the 2018 peace agreement. This has sparked concern from the European Union, which has since warned that it'll consider sanctioning individuals who attempt to undermine the deal. South Sudan is currently facing a food crisis and the EU says the situation is very critical and needs urgent attention. Simphiwe Ncongwane spoke to Dr Jok Madut Jok, who’s the co-founder of the Sudd Institute, about the significance of the EU's warning.”

18:42 – “It’s Europeans and North Americans are always imposing sanctions on African countries and so there is something that is peculiar and curious about these sanctions… The gist of the matter is that it’s not always just about human rights. It’s not about the famine situation as you said in your introduction, it is not about the oppression of the opposition or killing of people. It is mainly about what the capitalist developed global northern countries want the African countries to do in order for them to be invited into the conference of nations. France for example was very keen on keeping Idriss Deby in charge and France is mourning the death of Deby today more than the Chadians themselves. The Chadians are saying the resources of Chad have been at the disposal of France and not to the people of Chad themselves therefore it’s France and Macron crying over the death of Deby and not the Chadian people. It is the same thing everywhere where there is bad governance, where there is dictatorship, where there is a lot of resources to be harvested that the Europeans or North American always finding themselves imposing sanctions on the governments of that place. Not because the people want the sanctions, all the people want is, if there will be any help from the outside, help these people in these countries to challenge their governments on a democratic platform but not to impose sanctions and destroy the economies of these countries making their resources available for peanuts on a global scale.”

22:48 – “The problem is, peacekeeping missions are not a solution to a peace that does not exist in the first place. In order for it to be a genuine peacekeeping, the South Sudanese need to be committed to their own peace themselves… The UN has been in so many different places. In Congo going since 1965, what has the UN done to ensure the safety of the Congolese people? Congo, under the UN watch, still became the world’s capital of rape.”

“Ramaphosa says ‘an ex-president’ objected to his State Capture Inquiry appearance”dated 28-04-2021 at https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/cyril-ramaphosa-opening-statement-state-capture-inquiry-what-president-zuma/

Cyril Ramaphosa's first few words with the State Capture Inquiry could be some of the most revealing: That was quite an opening statement…

Cyril Ramaphosa has shared an opening statement with the State Capture Inquiry, and his first port of call was to throw shade at an unnamed former president – but you can perhaps guess who that is…

‘ONE FORMER PRESIDENT OBJECTED TO MY STATE CAPTURE INQUIRY APPEARANCE’ – CYRIL RAMAPHOSA

The 68-year-old, appearing at the Zondo Commission for the very first time, made it clear that he was happy to assist the panel when it comes to shedding more light on state capture. This is a marked difference from the last president who took to the hot-seat, and Jacob Zuma faces a possible jail sentence for skipping proceedings. Ramaphosa started by saying:

“I am here to assist the Zondo Commission. When I confirmed I was appearing, I spoke to a colleague of mine – a former head of state. His reaction was ‘ah, how can you do that?’ – I told them that THIS is how democracy works. None of us should shy away from appearing at these Commissions. I am here in my capacity as the ANC leader.”

“The State Capture Inquiry is an instrument to understand the nature and extent of state capture and to hold those responsible to account, and to take the necessary measures to ensure these events never happen again in South Africa. State capture has eroded the values of our Constitution, and if allowed to continue, it would threaten our entire future.”

‘CORRUPTION NOT A UNIQUE FACTOR TO SOUTH AFRICA’, ZONDO COMMISSION TOLD

However, Ramaphosa is still trying to implement some form of damage control. Cyril cannot openly admit his party is dodgy, and he spent most of Wednesday trying to find the right balance – and pointed to previous ‘corrupt regimes’:

“The ANC knew the State Capture Inquiry would cause us great pain in the public eye. But the party believes that all members must assist the Inquiry. I’m not here to make excuses, nor will I defend the indefensible. Corruption is not a new phenomenon in South Africa – apartheid was both morally and financially corrupt.”

“We recognise that some party members have been complicit in corruption. We have articulated these issues openly and publicly. But recognising these facts doesn’t make the ANC uniquely corrupt. Various other organisations also have to confront this issue. South Africa is also not the only country in the world that has to deal with corruption.”

CYRIL RAMAPHOSA REVISITS ‘FIRST ALLEGATION’ OF STATE CAPTURE

The President also confirmed what he believed was the first muttering of ‘state capture’. That came way back in 2011, when Minister Fikile Mbalula raised some concerns about the influence of the Gupta brothers.

“It is worth mentioning that one of the earliest claims of state capture involving the Guptas came from a statement shared by Fikile Mbalula in 2011. However, this complaint was not taken any further by the ANC. At the time, no specific concerns about the ‘capture of our state’ were. But, over time, these allegations piled up.”

“As the volume of evidence mounted, the issue of state capture became a focal point of discussion. Those guilty of corruption seek to keep their actions hidden. In the face of vehement denials, it is difficult to confront these figures.”

“‘We got it wrong, we fell short’: Ramaphosa on ANC’s state capture failures”- State Capturedated 28-04-2021 at https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/we-got-it-wrong-we-fell-short-ramaphosa-on-ancs-state-capture-failures/

President Cyril Ramaphosa has told the Zondo Commission that the ANC 'made many mistakes' at the height of the state capture era.

Cyril Ramaphosa is not Jacob Zuma, and Jacob Zuma is not Cyril Ramaphosa. The vast differences in their approach to the State Capture Inquiry prove just how ‘opposite’ these two ANC leaders really are. Indeed, the current president has just done something that Msholozi has refused to do – he has admitted that the ruling party was ‘in the wrong’.

CYRIL RAMAPHOSA HOLDS HIS HANDS UP

The frank admission is nothing particularly new to us as citizens, but it still marks a tonal shift between former heads of state. Ramaphosa has shown a degree of contriteness – which is arguably the bare minimum one would expect from the leader of a party that has been undeniably plagued by corruption.

While delivering his open statement, President Ramaphosa declared that the ANC ‘did not do enough’ to prevent state capture from happening. He lamented that one of the biggest corruption scandals in living memory ‘happened on the party’s watch’, but he even went one step further.

STATE CAPTURE INQUIRY TOLD THAT ANC ‘GOT IT WRONG’

Cyril made it clear that the ANC ‘had fallen short’ in the eyes of voters, admitting to a series of mistakes that came to define the state capture era. The 68-year-old is now responding to questions in regards to the deployment committees – which helped facilitate cronyism and cadre deployment – as DCJ Zondo kicks off an official line of questioning.

“State capture took place under our watch. The vast majority of ANC leaders, cadres, and members are vehemently opposed to corruption in all its manifestations. But we acknowledge that the organisation could, and should, have done more to prevent the abuse of power and the misappropriation of resources that defined the era of state capture.”

“Particularly during the period under review by this Commission, the ANC does admit that it made mistakes as it sought to execute the mandate it was given by the voters. It had shortcomings in living up to the expectations of the people of South Africa in relation to enforcing accountability – and engendering a culture of effective consequence management.”

“Cyril grilled: Ramaphosa catches heat for defending ‘cadre deployment’” – State Capturedated 28-04-2021 at https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/what-is-cadre-deployment-meaning-cyril-ramaphosa-defends-state-capture/

It seems the ANC's 'jobs for the boys' policy is safe with Cyril Ramaphosa, after the president faced a fierce line of questioning on cadre deployment today…

In a busy first morning for Cyril Ramaphosa at the State Capture Inquiry, the president was challenged on the process of ‘cadre deployment’ – a system that allows the ANC to recycle its senior politicians into new positions. Many outsiders dislike this particular practice and its ‘jobs for the boys’ image, but the president went into bat for the process.

PRESIDENT SUPPORTS ‘RECYCLING’ OF SENIOR PARTY MEMBERS

Ramaphosa, who had already admitted to ‘wrongdoing’ on behalf of the ANC when tackling state capture, didn’t stay on the back foot for very long. Advocate Paul Pretorius openly challenged him on the way cadre deployment works, given that ‘disgraced politicians’ can find themselves back in positions of power once the dust has settled. Cyril responded:

“The ANC Deployment Committee’s interventions have improved the gender balance on SOE boards, and in the state. Our party has a duty to keep an eye to the mandate by our own manifesto. The deployment of cadres to strategic positions is not unique to the ANC. It is practiced by other political parties in SA and in other countries.”

“Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater: Cadre deployment cannot be faulted in principle; it is a common feature of democratic practice around the world. But we would concede that there are weaknesses in its practical implementation that make the case for greater clarity, both within political parties and the state.”

Cyril Ramaphosa

REACTION TO RAMAPHOSA’S DEFENCE OF CADRE DEPLOYMENT

It’s worth remembering that Cyril Ramaphosa won an election on the back of an anti-corruption ticket – so his all-encompassing defence of cadre deployment is likely to strike a few wrong chords. Inevitably, it has stirred the DA:

“State Capture Inquiry: Ramaphosa rattled by ‘qualifications’ question”dated 28-04-2021 at https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/state-capture-inquiry-latest-updates-ramaphosa-qualifications-public-officials/

The State Capture Inquiry was told on Wednesday that a third of public service members 'do not have qualifications' - leaving Ramaphosa in a tight spot.

Although we haven’t seen a session full of fire and brimstone on Wednesday, Cyril Ramaphosa has certainly been put on the spot by officials at the State Capture Inquiry. Advocate Paul Pretorius hasn’t gone easy on the president, and after probing the 68-year-old on the controversial practice of cadre deployment, the issue of ‘qualifications’ came up.

PRESIDENT PUSHED IN QUALIFICATIONS ROW

Pretorius put it to the president that roughly 3 301 public officials do not possess the qualifications needed to hold senior management positions across South Africa – that accounts for roughly one-third of all these workers.

Ramaphosa acknowledged the shortfall, but refused to accept that a large-scale overhaul was needed across the country’s biggest public organisations. Given that a lack of ‘qualifications’ has often been used as a stick to beat several DA leaders with, it’s no wonder these revelations left the president feeling a little uncomfortable.

CYRIL RAMAPHOSA ‘ON THE SPOT’ AT STATE CAPTURE INQUIRY

Cyril responded in a deliberate manner, pausing for thought on a couple of occasions. He called for a ‘humane solution’ to this matter, and he is adamant that no under-qualified civil servant must lose their job ‘without their rights being considered first’. Ramaphosa also argued that thousands of these workers now have invaluable experience, anyway.

“The problem is recognised… that is precisely the problem we are addressing. We know that 3 301 is a large number of people. We are not going to chuck those people out. If anything, we as the state must be blamed. We need to address the problem humanely… we must also look at the human rights of those people without proper qualifications.”

“What’s so funny? Zondo gives Ramaphosa the giggles at State Capture Inquiry”date 29-04-2011 at https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/offbeat/watch-cyril-ramaphosa-laughing-state-capture-inquiry-zondo-why-video/

Because nothing is funnier than government corruption, hey? Cyril Ramaphosa appears to be enjoying himself at the State Capture Inquiry…

If Cyril Ramaphosa is still available for selection, the Proteas must consider giving the president a call-up immediately – because he has played the State Capture Inquiry with an impeccable defence, offering a straight bat to every question. However, one particular issue managed to sneak through the gate – and it left him and DCJ Zondo in hysterics.

WATCH: CYRIL RAMAPHOSA, RAYMOND ZONDO LAUGH IT UP AT THE STATE CAPTURE INQUIRY

Ramaphosa, who was being grilled on the ANC’s alleged ‘inability’ to respond quickly to the state capture scandal, burst into a fit of laughter when Zondo recalled testimony from Gwede Mantashe. The minister had previously stated that the party tends to be ‘slow’ in dealing with matters of corruption – and that, apparently, was the gag of the century…

DAY 2 OF CYRIL RAMAPHOSA AT THE STATE CAPTURE INQUIRY – LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES

Several complaints have been raised on social media – with some questioning why Ramaphosa is seemingly ‘enjoying himself’ in what is usually a pressure cooker environment. Following his fit of the giggles, Cyril was soon back under the spotlight: He was asked about his own ‘inaction’ as deputy president, while the Guptas looted at will. Ramaphosa replied:

“The ANC didn’t have direct evidence of allegations of the Gupta family’s undue influence or investigative capacity. The Gupta Leaks then acted flood of evidence that required Parliament to start doing its work.”

THE STORY SO FAR…

On Wednesday, Ramaphosa admitted that the ANC had become aware of malfeasance and patronage within the state and within its own ranks: “State capture took place under our watch as the governing party”, he told the Zondo Commission.

Dozens of ministers and former ministers, elected officials, businessmen and senior civil servants have appeared before the commission. And at the centre of the scandal is the Gupta business family, who won lucrative contracts with state companies and were allegedly even able to choose cabinet ministers.

Ramaphosa, who is the first sitting president to testify in such a probe, appeared in his capacity as the current leader of the African National Congress (ANC). The president is expected to continue testifying on Thursday, then return to the probe in his capacity as head of state at the end of May.

“State capture: Has Ramaphosa thrown Mkhize under the bus on Bosasa?”dated 29-04-2021 at https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/cyril-ramaphosa-bosasa-question-state-capture-inquiry-did-zweli-mkhize-know/

Bosasa is now being discussed at the State Capture Inquiry - and we don't think Zweli Mkhize will thank Cyril Ramaphosa for this little namedrop anytime soon.

Cyril Ramaphosa might have been cruising during the first session of the State Capture Inquiry on Thursday, but the president has now found himself gridlocked within a wall of uncomfortable questions. The Bosasa issue – arguably the biggest thorn in the 68-year-old’s side since he became head of state – has shaken things up drastically this afternoon.

RAMAPHOSA ON MKHIZE AND BOSASA

That’s because Ramaphosa, inadvertently or otherwise, brought Zweli Mkhize under the glare of the panel’s forensic focus. Advocate Paul Pretorius pushed the president to clarify what he knew about the corruption kingpins that were operating Bosasa at the time, and Cyril suggested that the former ANC Treasurer ‘should have been more alert‘.

“I might not have been alive to the fact that Bosasa was the provider of our elections centre, but ANC Treasurer General at the time [Zweli Mkhize] and those running the campaign were aware. It never occurred to me that this operation was funded by Bosasa through Gavin Watson. In hindsight, we should’ve been more alert.” | Cyril Ramaphosa

CYRIL TALKS CR17 AND ‘DELIBERATE DONATIONS’

Mkhize, who now serves as the health minister, could face his own line of questioning before the State Capture Inquiry concludes its business in 2021. Ramaphosa was also asked about his controversial CR17 election campaign, which steered him to the throne of ANC leadership three-and-a-half years ago.

According to Cyril, the people managing his campaign haven’t told him anything about his donors. Not a single thing. That’s because, in the president’s words, his backers ‘do not want their funding commitments to be made public’. The campaign accepted a R500 000 donation from Bosasa, which led to a slew of corruption allegations against CR17.

“The CR17 team would have not knowingly have accepted donations from a company that was implicated in corruption – this was a lapse. I did not know who was donating to the campaign – and that R500 000 was a deliberate payment. I was far away from the finances that funded the CR17 campaign because the managers didn’t want me to know.”

“There are allegations that the funds raised were used in vote-buying… this is not true. I made it clear that I did not want to be a party of a dirty campaign. I am not involved in the blocking of the CR17 campaign bank statements. The campaign managers are involved in that and the process is in the courts.”

“Another child comes forward in rape case against government official”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/rape-case-against-government-official-in-bushbuckridge-mpumalanga/

An additional charge of rape has been opened against a government official in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga. Three children has come forward.

An additional rape charge has been opened against a 49-year-old senior government official for allegedly raping a minor in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga. This is the third child to come forward with allegations of rape.

Police declined to name the government official, but said that the man is director of one of Gauteng’s many Municipalities and is the uncle of two other children who were sexually assaulted. The suspect is expected back in court today.

SUSPECT FACING THREE CHARGES OF RAPE

The suspect and his 36-year-old wife were arrested on 23 April for a case of rape involving two minors aged between 13 and 15-years-old. It is reported that the wife, who is referred to as “an aunt to the victims” forced them to have sexual intercourse with her husband in exchange for meals.

An additional charge of sexual assault emanated after a 14-year-old girl reported that the suspect, who is her neighbour and her friend’s uncle, raped her in 2014.

Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said the minor was playing with the suspect’s niece when the abuse allegedly occurred.

“The victim, who was seven-year-old at the time, revealed that she was playing with the suspect’s niece when he sent her (niece) to the shop. The suspect then took the victim to his room where he took off her clothes and raped her. She further stated that the suspect threatened to kill her if she told anyone,” said Mdhluli.

The victim indicated that she was living in fear ever since the ordeal. When she heard the suspect was arrested last week Friday, she had the courage to break her silence and report the matter to police. The child has since been moved to a place of safety.

GIRLS ALLEGEDLY ‘KEPT AS SLAVES’

The rape of the two other minors occurred between 2019 and 2020. The cousins were reportedly “lured from Mozambique by their aunt under false pretence that they were going to receive a better education in South Africa”.

“When they arrived in the country, they were allegedly subjected into rape, as well as gross human violations. According to allegations, the girls were literally kept as slaves by their own aunt and uncle in a house at Shatale near Bushbuckridge, which was supposed to be a warm home for them,” he said.

Mdhluli said that the sequence of events indicate that their aunt would often force the girls to engage in sexual acts with her husband, and the terrible allegations suggest that when the girls refused to obey, “they would be severely assaulted and starved”.

The government official and his wife appeared before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 April, on two counts of rape. They were remanded in custody until 29 April for a formal bail application. He will make his first appearance for the alleged rape of the 14-year-old girl on Thursday.

Lives are cheap in South Africa… even family.

“‘Axe-murderer’ in court after mother bludgeoned to death”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/axe-killer-in-court-son-charged-with-murder-of-mother-kzn-april-2021-who-is-loyiso-ngcobo/

Loyiso Ngcobo is accused of killing his mother using an axe to bludgeon the elderly woman to death before fleeing the scene.

A 28-year-old man suspected of murdering his own mother with an axe, reportedly over a petty dispute about her roof, appeared in a KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) court on Monday 26 April and remanded in custody.

Loyiso Ngcobo is accused of killing Thokozile Ngcobo after she caught her son attempting to steal materials from the roof of her house to sell. He allegedly used an axe to bludgeon the elderly woman to death before fleeing the scene.

MOTHER ALLEGEDLY KILLED BY SON WITH AXE

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said in a statement on Wednesday 29 April that the despicable incident took place 22 April in the Nsuze area. The 62-year-old Ngcobo was found dead in her bedroom with an open wound on the head, understood to be the work of a sharp axe. A case of murder subsequently opened at the Nsuze police station for investigation.

“According to a preliminary investigation, it is alleged that on the morning of the day in question, the suspect was dismantling the roof of the house, with the intention to sell the corrugated iron, the mother did not approve of his actions and an altercation ensued,” said Mbele.

She said that the argument escalated until it reached a horrifying conclusion.

“The mother went to her room and the accused followed her with an axe in his hand. He assaulted his mother with the axe on the back of her head and fled the scene. Thokozile Ngcobo succumbed to her injury on the scene,” she said.

SUSPECT REMANDED IN CUSTODY

With the slain mother’s son on the run from authorities, an urgent manhunt and tracing operation was launched. The efforts succeeded in locating Ngcobo, who was hiding in the Appelsbosch area.

“The police worked around the clock and managed to trace the suspect,” said Mbele. “He was arrested and charged with murder.”

Ngcobo will remain in custody at least until 5 May, when he will appear at the Nsuze Magistrate’s Court to submit his bail application.

“Hidden Facts: Gordhan, Ramaphosa, Madonsela – Wolves in Sheep Clothes” – Part 1dated 19/10/2016 at https://www.libertyfighters.co.za/tag/tito-maleka/

Everyone in South Africa is still dumbstruck over the bombshell our Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan, released this past weekend (Sunday, 16 October 2016) regarding the suspicious R6.8 Billion transactions of the Gupta Family which have lead to several banks closing this family’s accounts.

I can almost see how many of us are going to make a bowl of popcorn and sit back in front of our televisions this week to see how this saga is going to unfold where many are very curious to see whether President Jacob Zuma is at last going to enjoy only few more days in our highest office.

Although the Liberty Fighters Movement (LFM) is also not a great supporter of Zuma as a leader ,it has noticed something else unfold behind the scenes which cannot be good for the people of our country. LFM is concerned about the institution involved in this saga which is not openly mentioned – the SA Reserve Bank (SARB).

LFM is also really concerned that our Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa, suddenly came out of the closet in support of Gordhan which indicates that Ramaphosa is doing kite flying between the two clearly visible factions within the African National Congress (ANC). The only two reasons for this are firstly for power and secondly for his well-known love for money which made him one of the 100 top most influential people in the world according to the Forbes Magazine a few years ago as well as one of only 1812 American Dollar Billionaires in the entire world according to this same famous magazine’s latest.

Visualise this for a second… Ramaphosa was a dedicated communist before the 1994 democratic election and within a few years he became a multi-millionaire and today he is a “Super Capitalist”.

Uninformed people will immediately say that it’s typically communism, but the fact is that Ramaphosa is clearly a capitalist and was never a communist at all. He was therefore clearly a wolf in sheep clothes for those communists in our country who supported him. For those capitalists amongst us it also plainly means that Ramaphosa is a deceiver and cannot be trusted at all.

LMF National Representative, Reyno De Beer, said that Ramaphosa clearly indicated early 2000’s that “he had [has] no interest to return to politics”, but was one of the key culprits during 2008 to oust our previous President, Thabo Mbeki, when he sided then with the Zuma faction. Now suddenly 8 years thereafter, he returns back to the Mbeki camp which is simply opportunistic proving that Ramaphosa have absolutely no allegiance to anyone but to himself.

“Even if I don’t like Zuma as a leader, it is evident from history that everyone near Zuma regarded him as a good friend and a dedicated freedom fighter and man of principle” says De Beer.

For some obscure reason two of his “dearest friends” namely Julius Malema and Ramaphosa have left the Zuma camp the one starting his own political party the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to radically resist Zuma and the other coming in line probably as the best candidate to succeed Zuma as president after he clearly said 15 years ago that he has no interest to return to politics.

De Beer stipulated that “How would it be possible for not even one out of 700 fraud and corruption charges against Zuma not to lead to a conviction, but honestly I find it extremely difficult to believe that even our media punch bag Zuma can be that stupid to make the same mistakes over and over again and then be so arrogant to refuse to do the dignified thing to resign from office.”

“I am really starting to wonder whether Zuma is not actually the ‘innocent’ one who is protecting us which would justify his actions not to refuse to barge under all the scandals directly targeting him, even if it sounds totally ridiculous to most people now. Let me explain the reason for my madness” Said De Beer in a report.

“Hidden Facts: Gordhan, Ramaphosa, Madonsela – Wolves in Sheep Clothes” – Part 2dated 19/10/2016 at https://www.libertyfighters.co.za/tag/tito-maleka/

While Thuli Madonsela was still the Public Protector who has ended her term in office this past Friday (14 October 2016) under big cheering and great appreciation which was also the day when everything backfired in Zuma’s face, her office bluntly refused to investigate alleged high level corruption claims where close friends and business partners of Ramaphosa had been involved in.

These friends of Ramaphosa are all well-known business people in the banking, insurance and Internet communications industries with business links throughout the African continent.

Besides alleged tampering with the evidence in this case and intimidation by the Hawks and in particular by the dismissed Gauteng Hawks Head, Maj./Gen. Shadrack Sibiya and refusal to internally investigate the investigating officers and Sibiya by the then Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID) Head and ANC “bad boy”, Robert McBride, even the Minister of Police, Mr. Nkosinathi Nhleko, was unable or not powerful enough to intervene in that case either. Logically someone even higher in the hierarchy than Minister Nhleko, probably someone like a Deputy President or President for example, somehow blocked it. Who could that person be?

LFM is aware and have ample proof in its possession that the media, Naspers and Prime Media affiliates to be exact, had been notified about this matter which was referred to the office of Madonsela many times, but bizarrely none of the newspapers reported on it. Emailed press releases by the complainant had even been deleted on several occasions without being read according to read receipts stating “Emails deleted without being read” as if these media houses were somehow instructed not to publish anything originating from this person.

This complainant also claims that during the time of these suppressed corruption investigations one key witness in the criminal case mysteriously died, the complainant’s phone and emails were intercepted which only ceased once it was reported to the then Acting Head of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Adv. Govender, and apparently the complainant also received death threats and on occasions the complainant’s vehicle was also tampered with, to name but a few alleged intimidation to silence the complainant.

Only after Madonsela was reported to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) – something that was also not mentioned in the mainstream media – her office allocated a reference number to that complaint, after it refused to do anything in that matter for 9 months. After another two months nothing happened in the office of the Public Protector regarding this case besides clearly blocking it from being investigated even further.

Ramaphosa was also linked to a scandal a few years ago when it surfaced that a company in which he used to be a director, Rainprop, allegedly obtained the tender to build the R500 million DTI Campus in Trevenna, Pretoria during the late 1990’s on land owned by the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality it received free of charge.

According to reports the rent that Rainprop charged to the DTI for the building was so exorbitant that it would have taken only a year or two for this company to get its return on investment which any property developer would say is almost impossible to achieve. Ramaphosa quickly protested that he was nowhere involved in that tender allocation and further investigations and media coverage ceased.

LFM also found another suspicious tender allocation for a security company for a particular government department involving several million Rand to a company where another Ramaphosa business partner was also involved in. The Hawks quickly stopped its criminal investigation in that matter too and no further media coverage about it ever surfaced again as well.

“Hidden Facts: Gordhan, Ramaphosa, Madonsela – Wolves in Sheep Clothes” – Part 3dated 19/10/2016 at https://www.libertyfighters.co.za/tag/tito-maleka/

There are also various rumours of Ramaphosa allegedly involved in shady diamond mining and even alleged drug deals, but just as quickly as those rumours surface the media never reports on it ever again. It is as if those allegations never existed.

LFM’s vast intelligence network also received information from people who allege that they know about these alleged organised crime dealings and names of people who might supply more details, like Tito Maleka the sacked ANC Security Operative, start to surface.

Many people also do not know this simply because our media do not report on it at all, but our iron lady Madonsela’s daughter is also the Student Command Leader for the EFF at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) where its Wits Campus had been engulfed in riots for the #FeesMustFall campaign over the past few weeks. Mmmm… Does that startle anyone?

The reinstatement of the criminal charges against Zuma, the #FeesMustFall riots to destabilize the ANC government in which Madonsela’s own daughter allegedly participates, the impossible support of the EFF to the Democratic Alliance (DA) instead of ANC in key metropolitans during the past Local Elections, the sudden death of Fezekile “Khwezi” Ntsukela Kuzwayo the woman who claimed middle 2000’s that Zuma raped her, et cetera sound just too unbelievable at the same time. How many times can lightning struck at the same spot? Seemingly Zuma is a conductor for lightning…

If Zuma is being framed, what could be the reason?

De Beer claims that the reason that Zuma is being framed could find its roots to Pretoria inside the skyscraper glass palace of the SARB.

For those who still don’t know, SARB is the only national regulator which is 100% privately owned and even as a private company tasked to not only regulate the banking industry but also for monetary control over our entire economy. Yes, a bunch of private rich and famous make the decisions for us all relating to our banks and economy people and NOT our Government as many might think!

Although the president appoints the SARB Governor, Deputy-Governor and few other officials on the SARB Board, this board must still obey the decisions of the approximately 160 private shareholders of SARB which effectively means that SARB is not controlled by its Board but by its shareholders.

This SARB system is part of the infamous Rothschild Family Empire which stretches from the Bank of England in the Northern hemisphere, the US Federal Reserve Bank in the West to even the continent of Australia in the South Western corner of our planet.

SARB just like its affiliates are not state owned and the South African Government has absolutely no jurisdiction over it protected by our Constitution. It’s almost as if the SARB is like our own independent Vatican in the heart of our capital Pretoria with also the exclusive right to create our currency the Rand at its leisure and for its own account.

As everyone knows Zuma is a great supporter of the economic bond of Brazil – Russia – India – China – South Africa (BRICS) which created its own central bank outside this Rothschild Empire about 5 years ago serving primarily the needs of developing countries. It was actually the first central bank in history to be established outside this Rothschild Empire to serve several countries at once.

“Hidden Facts: Gordhan, Ramaphosa, Madonsela – Wolves in Sheep Clothes” – Part 4dated 19/10/2016 at https://www.libertyfighters.co.za/tag/tito-maleka/

LFM established that Libya claims that its late leader Mummar Gadaffi transferred approximately US$90 Billion worth of gold reserves to South Africa just before the USA, Britain and France invaded it for their greedy needs during 2014. Strangely the approximately 2500 tons of gold are nowhere to be found, or so it seems.

De Beer says that he doesn’t want to be labelled as a conspiracy theorist, but knowing that Gadaffi was actually the pioneer in Africa to propose that the continent need to establish its own independent central bank with its own gold bullion linked African Dinar currency, the possibility is very good that Zuma has in fact managed to transfer those gold reserves to the BRICS Bank and most probably the R6.8 Billion linked to the Gupta Family also landed in the same vault. As he has highlighted, this is only an assumption but could turn out to be the correct point of view.

De Beer says that “if this is indeed the case that the 700 criminal charges against [Zuma] are most probably linked to his efforts to transfer African wealth to the BRICS Bank away from the Rothschild Empire, we all should in fact praise and support him instead of opposing him.”

We all know how quickly Shabir Shaik was released and that Zuma never testified at his trial. “Yes, Zuma probably interfered with the release of Shaik, but knowing that the Shaik Family especially Mohammed ‘Mo’ Shaik have good relations with India the possibility is good that even those transactions could have been linked to BRICS” emphasized De Beer.

The fact that all the large banks in South Africa suddenly came out at the same time to close the accounts of the Guptas indicates clearly that the directive came from above, the SARB. It is just impossible for all these banks having its own executives to decide at one instantaneous point to act exactly the same with even similar worded letters to the Gupta Family.

It is also extremely suspicious that the day when Gordhan was served with his one charge of fraud by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the financial markets did not move into the red as would have been the case for any other country if their Minister of Finance would have been criminally charged. This is clearly a further proof that the SARB, which is the market manipulator, is directly involved in this matter without any question.

At this stage LFM does not want to take any sides in this matter, but would like to put it clear that anyone or any structure having the objective to abolish the Rothschild SARB will have its support. The LFM will also ensure that the friends of Ramaphosa are properly investigated even if they need to take the Public Protector to the Constitutional Court which will probably open a can of worms Ramaphosa himself never expected.

Johannesburg - Suspended ANC secretary general Ace Magashule has suffered yet another blow, as top officials in the ruling party want him to apologise for serving President Cyril Ramaphosa with a suspension letter, allegedly without any authority to do so.

The order was announced by Ramaphosa on Monday, when he spelt out the outcome of the party’s three-day special national executive committee (NEC) meeting.

Ramaphosa, who spoke on a virtual platform, said the ANC NEC – the highest decision making body of the party within conferences – has given Magashule a certain time frame within which to apologise and, if he fails to do so, the NEC would institute disciplinary charges against him.

The pending penalty against Magashule followed the shocking events of last week, a few days after the ANC decided to place him on suspension.

He was served with a suspension letter on May 3, signed off by ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte.

In the letter, Duarte stipulated all the conditions which Magashule was supposed to adhere to, or face penalties.

Magashule was ordered not to carry out the duties and responsibilities of his office as secretary-general of the ANC.

Despite his conditional suspension, on May 5 Magashule wrote a suspension letter to Ramaphosa saying: “I have also, in accordance with the powers invested in me as the secretary of the ANC, and in full compliance with the relevant conference resolutions, summarily suspended the president of the ANC, comrade Cyril Ramaphosa.

“This is done in terms of Resolution 8.2 of the 54th ANC national conference, which states that ‘every cadre accused of, or reported to be involved in, corrupt practices accounts to the ANC integrity committee immediately, or faces disciplinary processes.”

He also lifted his suspension, but was barred from the ANC NEC meeting on Saturday, when he tried to be part of it.

ANC NEC member Bongani Bongo also suffered the same fate.

Both are facing criminal charges of fraud and corruption in the Bloemfontein and Nelspruit Magistrate’s Courts, respectively.

As for Magashule, he has yet to give details on whether he would apologise to Ramaphosa for the “suspension letter”, which has since been rejected by the NEC.

The ANC, however, did not give details of the time frames.

Ramaphosa also confirmed that Magashule and Bongo remain suspended. Duarte will take over as ANC secretary-general.

Other provincial officials implicated in corruption, fraud, and other serious criminal offences, were also ordered to step aside from their executive positions, with immediate effect.

“Could America Become Like South Africa?” – Part 1dated July 10, 2020, at https://www.amren.com/features/2020/07/could-america-become-like-south-africa/

After my latest article on American Renaissance, some commenters wondered whether the calamity that befell white South Africans could repeat itself in America. In light of current events, and with some qualifications, I would say “yes.” I nevertheless hope that Americans can learn from our mistakes and avoid our fate of being subject to black rule.

To borrow a phrase from quirky French novelist, Michel Houellebecq, we are witnessing an “ideological revolution.” Christianity supplanting paganism was such a revolution, as was the rise of Islam in the seventh century. More recently, the various communist cults of Marx, Lenin, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot, Mengistu Mariam and others gave us a glimpse of modern ideological revolutions, in which an idea is foisted on the population and dissidence often means imprisonment or death.

I just got a message in my inbox from Flickr, which offers cloud-based storage for photographs. “CEO and Chief Geek,” Don McAskill wrote: “Photographs have continually shown us that systemic racism against black people in America is real. We will stand against that racism however we can. Protecting black lives shouldn’t be divisive. It’s not an ‘issue.’ For our black community, it’s a matter of living and dying.”

Mr. McAskill notes that black photographers and those “who are creating and documenting recent activity around fighting racial injustice” will get free Flickr Pro accounts. He adds: “[W]e believe photography has the power to change the world, and we believe this moment, this movement, is historic.”

Major tech companies in the US have by now pledged an estimated $1 billion to $2 billion to BLM. I am reminded that a few hundred million dollars dished out by Sweden to South Africa’s ANC helped topple our old government, despite its powerful military and police. Propaganda, or what military strategists call “winning the hearts and minds of the enemy,” is often more powerful than the force of arms. In the words of Sun Tzu: “[T]o fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.”

During the 1980s, the last South African president to offer any resistance to Marxists and Africanists was P.W. Botha. He coined the term, “total onslaught” to describe the offensive against us, which included cross-border terrorism, inciting riots and sedition, economic and financial sanctions, and — most important — propaganda.

Many white Americans probably think they need guns to fight this war. We also thought we needed guns — and tanks and helicopters and fighter planes. Because of boycotts, we couldn’t buy all the weapons we wanted, but we developed the best artillery in the world. Our G5 and G6 cannons could strike at distances of 120 km, and could fire tactical nuclear warheads. However, in the end, we were conquered without a single cannon shot. Naturally, there was violence: bloodshed, terrorism and so on. We fought the Russians and the Cubans in Angola, but there was never an actual war on South African soil. The real battle was non-military, psychological, and ideological.

There are remarkable similarities between Black Lives Matter and the former Anti-Apartheid Movement that laid South Africa low. In fact, one could draw a line from the Anti-Vietnam War movement to Anti-Apartheid and then to Black Lives Matter. Many of the same people, institutions and media have been involved in all three.

“Could America Become Like South Africa?” – Part 2dated July 10, 2020, at https://www.amren.com/features/2020/07/could-america-become-like-south-africa/

White “racists,” black victims

One of the most obvious ideas of all anti-white groups is that whites are racists and blacks are victims. This is dogma even when statistics show that whites, as in South Africa and America, are overwhelmingly the victims of black violence and not the other way round. White depravity now includes a whole panoply of invisible, implied, and even unconscious racisms. In both the US and South Africa, racial disparities in education, wealth, and even measured IQ between blacks and whites are ascribed to oppression.

In addition, the so-called “whiteness” ideology propagated by universities claims that to be white is a condition that must be cured. If whites are to have a racial identity, it is to be one of apology and certainly not pride. Black racial identity, on the other hand, almost by definition includes anti-white animus. As Jericho Brown, the Pulitzer-prize winning poet of 2020 put it: “No such thing as good white people.” As a white admirer of Brown notes, “even the most well-meaning white person, eager to implicate themselves whenever possible, does so to make themselves more comfortable with their privilege.”

Oh, yes. Privilege. Presumably even a jobless South African white, unemployable because of his race and languishing in one of our white squatter camps, would still have “white privilege” if only because other whites might feel sorry for him. Whites are not supposed to sympathize with other whites, only with blacks. Liberals are good at this: They dismiss South Africa’s vicious farm murders as an “extreme-right issue.” “Crime affects everyone,” they say.

Americans are the new South Africans

Within South Africa, many whites blame our current troubles on F.W. de Klerk’s betrayal. He sold us out by capitulating to the ANC, and there is certainly some truth in that. However, it is only over the past few years that the full details of the “total onslaught” against South Africa in the 1980s have emerged. An international network of leftists, financed by governments, churches, and NGOs were part of a constant media campaign to undermine the South African government.

Much of what we see now in relation to the Trump administration looks similar. Most of the mainstream media, not only in America but globally, scorn Donald Trump and his white supporters. Americans are the new South Africans that everybody loves to hate. When I catch a glimpse of TV in France, the Netherlands, or the UK, journalists and commentators fulminate against American “racism” and “police brutality.” If anyone ever mentions black crime rates, it is to explain them away by “slavery and centuries of oppression.” Just as everything that is bad in South Africa is still called a “legacy of apartheid,” liberals will be blaming American whites long after they are a minority.

The United Nations played a key role in the demise of white South Africa, and that organization is profoundly hostile to Donald Trump. On June 19, it blasted the United States:

The UN’s top rights official, Michelle Bachelet, is to spearhead efforts to address systemic racism against people of African descent by law enforcement agencies, the Human Rights Council decided on Friday. The resolution — decided unanimously without a vote — follows a rare Urgent Debate in the Council earlier in the week, requested by the African group of nations, following the death of George Floyd in the US state of Minnesota.

As they did with South Africa, “some delegates [called] for an international probe to investigate killings of black people in America, and violence against demonstrators.”

“Could America Become Like South Africa?” – Part 3dated July 10, 2020, at https://www.amren.com/features/2020/07/could-america-become-like-south-africa/

Recently, the undeceived French author and commentator Eric Zemmour noted that BLM riots had broken out in many countries, except that in some, such as Germany, they were “running late.” This is like Lenin’s notion of “uneven development,” with the communist revolution at “different stages” in different countries. The West is being conquered, but more quickly in some places than in others.

South Africa is the Western country that leads the pack. We got the most extreme forms of black supremacy and cultural Marxism, but the ANC regime is showing so many signs of weakness it may have almost passed the low point. Elsewhere in the West, including America, the anti-white movement is still ascendant. If the US gets a Democrat president and Senate, it will be nearly “game over” for whites. There would be a flood of immigrants as well as legalization of uncounted millions of illegals who would become instant Democrats. Whites could then face what we face in South Africa: exclusion from jobs, government contracts, and from majority-ownership of companies.

A top-down movement

The current movement associated with Black Lives Matter is — at least for whites — top-down, driven by elites in government, academia, and the media. Again, South Africa is an instructive example of how that works.

Until the early 1980s, very few blacks opposed the South African government. More than 90 percent of South Africans had never heard of the ANC or the South African Communist Party. The only people involved in the so-called “struggle against apartheid” were Marxist professors at the English-speaking universities (Afrikaans universities were conservative and had almost no non-white students), a handful of journalists, and student radicals.

The same thing is happening in America. A recent Pew Research poll found that only 6 percent of Americans had attended a BLM rally or protest, but 46 percent of that group were white. Young, college-educated, Democrat-voting women were especially overrepresented.

America’s corporate elites solidly back BLM, and media support for an anti-white revolution is unwavering. On the Fourth of July, Donald Trump reflected the views of many whites when he said: “Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our Founders, deface our most sacred memorials and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities. Their goal is not a better America, their goal is the end of America.” The entire Washington Post editorial board united to call this “an obscene misinterpretation” of the movement, and fretted that the president had “plumbed new depths of depravity.”

“Could America Become Like South Africa?” – Part 4dated July 10, 2020, at https://www.amren.com/features/2020/07/could-america-become-like-south-africa/

Black mobs serve as “stormtroopers”

Rioting and looting mobs can be seen as “stormtroopers” for the liberal cause, just as they were 50 years ago in South Africa.

I recently got a letter from a white Afrikaner lady who was present at the outbreak of the infamous Soweto riots, which I wrote about here under the title, “Soweto — the true story of 16 June 1976.” Most, if not all black riots are destructive, nihilistic, and contradictory in message, if there is a “message” at all. But such riots serve a very important function in that they create “political theatre,” which in turn provides “teachable moments” for journalists and politicians to tell us about black victimhood and white racism.

The first person to be killed in Soweto was Dr. Melville Edelstein, a liberal Jewish man who was in charge of social work in Soweto. He became a victim of the very people he was trying to help. His name was all but airbrushed out of history, except for making the case that “apartheid made black protesters kill him.” White racism forces blacks to commit crimes they would otherwise never consider. The virtually unknown South African Communist Party, flush with Swedish cash, saw an opportunity.

The Soweto riots are now grandiloquently known as “the Soweto Uprising.” Edelstein’s death, burnt schools and offices, and looted shops and beer halls are now venerated as “heroic deeds by oppressed black youth.” Since the death of George Floyd, this pattern is being repeated in America and even in Europe.

Why do blacks riot? This is a question that has been researched in South Africa in days gone by. Books written about it by Afrikaner analysts and anthropologists have been removed as “apartheid ideology” or “racist literature,” so we don’t know what they said. A few years ago a friend in Cape Town sent me a little volume by Laurens van der Post, The Dark Eye of Africa (1955), consisting of a lecture van der Post gave in Switzerland. He suggested delicately that the African propensity for irrational mob violence has deep psychological roots and that cultural interaction between Europe and Africa has not always been successful. (van der Post’s term “dark eye,” is a translation from the Javanese mata kelap, which means to run amok and kill everyone in sight.)

Whatever their motive, black rioters function as stormtroopers for the far left. Herbert Marcuse already wrote in the 1960s that the Western working class had been co-opted by capitalism and had become “reactionary.” In An Essay On Liberation (1969), he put his hopes for “revolutionary action” in disaffected youth, (feminist) women, and blacks, specifically praising the capacity of American blacks to undermine Western civilization.

Today the liberal elite have adopted Marcuse’s precepts. They are hostile to working-class whites and deride Trump voters as “rednecks” who do not understand progressivism preached in the universities and the media. Today we clearly see the workings of what Marcuse called the “black, violent, orgiastic” soul. Violent mobs are advancing the liberal program of creating a climate of disorder and even revolution so that radical progressives can come to power. It worked in South Africa. Could it work in America, or even in Europe?

“Is South Africa The World’s First Modern-Day Concentration Camp?” – Part 1dated 19 May 2020 at https://alicevlo.com/2020/05/19/is-south-africa-the-worlds-first-modern-day-concentration-camp/

Under the guise of COVID-19, is South Africa the world’s first modern-day concentration camp?

We’ve been here before. Concentration camps are nothing new to the Boers of South Africa. It began in 1899, the trigger to the war being the discovery of diamonds and gold in our Boer states. What began as what was to be a quick and easy defeat by the overconfident and unprepared British, turned into a three-year battle resulting in the British changing leadership and tactics to effectively take control of Boer land. The Boers refused to surrender and under the leadership of generals Louis Botha, Jan Smuts, Christiaan De Wet and Koos De La Rey, surprise attacks against the British, along with quick escapes were underway. The British, realizing that they were losing, set up camps with barbed wire fences, attacked civilian farms, and destroyed crops and livestock as part of their “scorched earth” policy. When the Boers showed no desire to surrender, women and children were forced into these concentration camps, leaving thousands of innocent people dying of hunger and disease. Our history and pictures immortalized in our museums tell of awful conditions, hunger, disease and the surrender of freedom. It was not a fair fight, but the only way the British could cripple the Boer nation.

Because we are white and in South Africa, we are all Boers now. For the past 26 years, we have been attacked by a terrorist government who have embarked on what can only be referred to as “modern-day warfare.” In 1993, the ANC began waging a brand-new war on the Boers by restricting employment, excluding them from the job market by replacing qualified staff with unskilled employees thereby effectively bankrupting almost all governmental institutions such as our power supply establishment, our once profitable and proudly South African Airways, our municipalities and so much more. Slowly and almost unnoticed, the Boers have had to adapt to lower educational standard and the loss of employment. We have had to hand over the majority of our businesses, yet, we are taxed to breaking point. Positions in the public sector have been allocated to ANC comrades, thereby controlling the police and military forces, along with medical staff in public hospitals, resulting in sub-standard treatment. The names of our provinces have been changed, cities and streets were re-named, airport names, only to name but a few, have been adapted to honor terrorists of the past. Private security companies are in the process of being reconstructed so as to disarm officers, as most of South Africa’s privately-owned weapons have been confiscated.

The Afrikaans language has been placed at risk by insisting the language be removed from schools, and is hanging by a thread, one court case at a time. Our Churches, schools, libraries, universities, colleges, monuments and museums are being vandalized on an on-going basis, so as to completely destroy any proof of our past and our pride. Pension funds have been looted. Banks have been looted. State coffers are empty. Greed and corruption have contributed to farm lands being seized without compensation, and while the process seems too lengthy for the beneficiaries, our farmers and families are being murdered. Brutalized. Tortured for hours. Raped. Sodomized. Burnt. Children especially are sadistically killed. Attacks are drawn out for maximum suffering. White families in suburban areas are enduring much of the same. The hatred is evident when the Boer’s killings are called for. Openly. Publicly. For the world to see. The hunger for Boer blood resonates from the top, beginning with the president, right down to the indoctrinated man on the street. Our history and culture has been eradicated, our history re-written.

“Is South Africa The World’s First Modern-Day Concentration Camp?” – Part 2dated 19 May 2020 at https://alicevlo.com/2020/05/19/is-south-africa-the-worlds-first-modern-day-concentration-camp/

Then COVID-19 showed up and it was almost like their alleged voodoo magic and spirits of their forefathers have handed them the perfect scenario. A gift from their ancestors. The gods they worship. A sign that they have been given assistance and permission to further cripple the Boer. Overnight, the last of the Boer freedom was taken from us. A modern-day hijacking had taken place right before our eyes. Armed criminal and corrupt police and defense force officers were deployed, allowing “martial law” authority. Areas are patrolled with automatic assault rifles with rounds of live ammunition under the guise of “enforcing law and order.”

Much of the cabinet, including the president, adorns military uniforms when addressing the public, despite their complete lack of military training. Healthy people are quarantined, some placed in so-called “quarantine camps,” living under ghastly conditions. Financial aid and relief is based on B-BBEE laws. Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment. The operative word, BLACK. There is no aid and no relief for a white man, woman or child. White squatter camps are being raided, and privately-funded or donated food is being confiscated, reinforcing “made-up” regulations that the government alone is permitted to distribute food, thereby, excluding white squatter camps. The inept, and corrupt Minister of Police has banned cigarettes, alcohol, hugging and kissing. Single joggers have been arrested on a beach, while crowds of black South Africans are ignored. Black taxies operate as normal, while fines and threats of arrest are issued to a couple, or a mother and child driving in a car. Clothing is strictly monitored. Certain garments only are allowed to be bought, according to a list issued to shoppers in need of clothing. The impending release of at least 19,000 prisoners, some of which are farm attackers, murderers, rapists and almost all convicted of capital crimes has again, placed the innocent at risk. Minor incidents of people working and trying their utmost to provide for their families, has resulted in their imprisonment, yet, violent criminals are about to be released back onto the streets of South Africa.

Farmers and private neighbourhood-watch officers are prohibited from patrolling the farming communities, thereby effectively handing Boer lives over to attackers.

All this is taking place under the guise of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Is this how modern-day concentration camps are operated? Unnoticed. Stripping our freedom bit by bit. Slow enough not to quite notice the new “plan,” but quick enough to effectively surrender our freedom to the terrorist ANC government, without even knowing it. Soon, pictures of our imprisonment will become the new Boer pictures in the history of the future.

It is not a fair fight now, and the only way the ANC can cripple the Boer nation, if we allow it.

Now they are pushing the 3rd wave; “Third wave: Why SA might be nearing ‘the worst-case scenario’” - https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/what-is-worst-case-scenario-when-third-wave-south-africa/

“Level 3 lockdown ‘on the cards’: Experts DEMAND tougher restrictions for SA”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/will-south-africa-go-level-3-lockdown-third-wave-what-restrictions-return/

This is what happens when you don't vaccinate the people: Tougher lockdown restrictions are inevitable, with experts touting 'Level 3' as our next move.

Three leading professors have pleaded with the government to consider changing lockdown restrictions, in order to curtail large gatherings that accelerate the spread of COVID-19. With new variants of the disease entering the country, citizens must remain vigilant against the spread of this virus – even if that means returning to Level 3 of lockdown.

EXPERTS ASK FOR ‘LIMITS ON GATHERINGS’ AS A PRIORITY’

On Tuesday, both Dr. Asmal Dasoo (convenor of the Progressive Health Forum) and Alex van den Heever (chair of Social Security Systems Administration and Management Studies at Wits University) called for gatherings to be capped.

The pair believe that current limits, which can stretch to meetings of 500 people outdoors, will need to be dropped down to just TEN – to try and blunt the impact of a third coronavirus wave. As we reported last week, social gatherings – alongside restrictions on travel, land borders, and curfew hours – will be the first to change this winter.

LEVEL 3 LOCKDOWN ‘MAY BE DEPLOYED AGAIN’

Professor Adrian Puren of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), meanwhile, has entertained the idea of moving into Level 3 of lockdown BEFORE new infections properly take-off again. He has speculated that the tougher version of lockdown could be implemented on a local or district-based scale, while SA remains ‘mostly unvaccinated’.

“We have some idea of what we need to prepare for. If we go to a Level 3 lockdown or something like that, we must encourage testing. Each district needs to be looked at and managed appropriately. Hospitals need to be ready – and part of that is vaccination. Every South African has to follow the non-pharmaceutical interventions.”

LEVEL 3 LOADING? ZWELI MKHIZE ACCEPTS LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS ‘WILL BE NECESSARY’

It seems the implementation of tougher lockdown restrictions is now inevitable. Just last week, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize feared that the arrival of a ‘variant of concern’ could force the Cabinet’s hand. Lo and behold, mutations found in both the UK and India have now washed up on our shores – and more drastic containment measures are on the table:

“We have noticed a worrying trend of increasing numbers of detected cases in a number of districts and the arrival of a ‘variant of concern’ can drive another wave. For these reasons, the NCCC is deliberating on the issue of border control, and final determinations will find expression in Cabinet and be communicated to the public accordingly.” | Zweli Mkhize

“10 Things We Have Learned During The COVID Coup”- https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/10-things-we-have-learned-during-covid-coup

One potential positive from the whole Covid-19 debacle is that we have learned an incredible amount about the society in which we live. This will be crucial if we manage to stave off a descent into a nightmare future of techno-fascist slavery.

We will have a new understanding of what our world has become and what we would like it to be in the decades and centuries to come. And “we” means we. While the majority have, apparently, learnt nothing at all from what has happened, they will eventually catch up.

There is no way that knowledge gained by a wide-awake 15% or 20% of the population will not end up being shared by almost everyone. Once the truth is out, it tends to stay out. As H.R. Haldeman so wisely put it, “you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube”.

Here are Ten Things We Have Learned During the Covid Coup.

  1. Our political system is hopelessly corrupt.

Virtually all politicians are hopelessly corrupt. No political party can be trusted. They all can be, and have been, bought.

  1. Democracy is a sham.

It has been a sham for a very long time. There will never be any real democracy when money and power amount to the same thing.

  1. The system will stop at nothing to hold on to its power and, if possible, increase its levels of control and exploitation.

It has no scruples. No lie is too outrageous, no hypocrisy too nauseating, no human sacrifice too great.

  1. So-called radical movements are usually nothing of the sort.

From whatever direction they claim to attack the system, they are just pretending to do so, and serve to channel discontent in directions which are harmless to the power clique and even useful to its agendas.

  1. Any “dissident” voice you have ever heard of through corporate media is probably a fake.

The system does not hand out free publicity to its actual enemies.

  1. Most people in our society are cowards.

They will jettison all the fine values and principles which they have been loudly boasting about all their lives merely to avoid the slightest chance of public criticism, inconvenience or even minor financial loss.

  1. The mainstream media is nothing but a propaganda machine for the system…

…and those journalists who work for it have sold their sorry souls, placing their (often minimal) writing skills entirely at the disposition of Power.

  1. Police are not servants of the public…

…but servants of a powerful and extremely wealthy minority which seeks to control and exploit the public for its own narrow and greedy interests.

  1. Scientists cannot be trusted.

They will use the hypnotic power of their white coats and authoritative status for the benefit of whoever funds their work and lifestyle. He who pays the piper calls the tune.

  1. Progress is a misleading illusion.

The “progress” of increasing automation and industrialisation does not go hand in hand with a progress in the quality of human life, but in fact will “progressively” reduce it to the point of complete extinction.

“11 shot dead in Khayelitsha” - https://youtu.be/qQWa_TNmUcY

“Carnage in Khayelitsha: 11 shot dead in ‘revenge’ killing spree”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/khayelitsha-shootings-latest-death-toll/

Cops suspect that 'revenge' was a huge motivating factor on Saturday, as 11 people in Khayelitsha were killed during a spate of shootings.

The sprawling township of Khayelitsha was reduced to a bloodbath on Saturday, as nearly a dozen people were shot down by gunmen looking to settle the scores. The Western Cape settlement saw a further seven people end up ‘seriously wounded’, with a flurry of bullets accounting for 11 lives.

‘REVENGE’ KILLINGS PROBED

The first murder of the day set off an even deadlier chain reaction. Retaliatory acts took place across Khayelitsha, with several foreign nationals also caught up in the violence. Here’s how the day of carnage unfolded:

– The first victim was found in Banzi Street, Site B with several gunshot wounds next to a firearm at 10:00 on Saturday.

– In a second incident that is believed to be a retaliation attack to the first murder, two Somali nationals were shot.

– In the RR Section, three other males were shot dead later on Saturday afternoon

– At a spaza shop in Y-Block, two other men were killed after being shot, one in the yard and another in a vehicle.

– Two other Somali nationals were also gunned down near a spaza shop in the area.

– Meanwhile, an additional two victims of the shooting incidents died while in hospital.

ARRESTS YET TO BE MADE IN KHAYELITSHA GUN BATTLE

SAPS have since issued a statement on the matter, confirming that the shooting suspects are still at large on Sunday.

“Following the murder of a man in the RR Section in Khayelitsha on Saturday morning in a shooting incident by yet-to-be arrested assailants, several other shooting incidents that left eleven men dead and seven seriously wounded, have been reported in the area. Police have since reinforced deployments in the area.”

“Western Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thembisile Patekile has ordered the 72-hour Activation Plan for the mobilisation of resources in search of the gunmen. As part of the unfolding investigations, police are now in pursuit of specific leads.”

“Breaking: Now Zuma seeks acquittal of ALL corruption charges – report”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/now-jacob-zuma-seeks-acquittal-of-all-corruption-charges-report/

Former president Jacob Zuma has filed plea documents, in which he argues for the state prosecutor Billy Downer’s recusal in the arms deal trial

In a dramatic turn of events, former president Jacob Zuma has asked the High Court in Pietermaritzburg to acquit him of the charges he faces in the arms deal trial.

This is according to eNCA, which reports that the bid will depend on whether or not he succeeds in his application to have state prosecutor advocate Billy Downer recuse himself.

According to the broadcaster, Zuma argues that Downer lacks the independence and impartiality required of a prosecutor.

The first day of Zuma’s arms deal trial got underway on Monday – but proceedings had to be postponed – to allow his lawyers to argue why Downer should not be allowed to prosecute their client.

The news comes just days after Zuma’s lawyers filed an affidavit, in which he elaborates on why they want the prosecutor removed

ZUMA SEEKS ACQUITTAL IN ARMS DEAL TRIAL – SO WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

For now, it is now up to Judge Piet Koen to make a decision on Jacob Zuma’s recusal plea on Downer – only then will we get an idea on the way forward.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed on Thursday that it had received Zuma’s plea document via email on Wednesday evening, and would be studying it before formally responding.

“We are studying the document and we will submit our response in court as expected. At face value it looks like a regurgitation of the old false issues that have been previously rejected by the courts,” NPA spokesperson Sipho Ngwema said.

Zuma faces 16 charges of fraud, corruption, racketeering, and money-laundering related to the controversial multi-billion rand arms deal in the late 1990s.

The former president is alleged to have received 783 suspicious payments to the tune of R1.2 million from French arms manufacturer Thales, through his disgraced former financial advisor Shabir Shaik.

The payments are alleged to be bribes, in exchange for protecting Thales from an investigation into how it scored the contract.

Zuma has denied the allegations and claims they are politically motivated.

“The World Economic Forum's latest simulation 'fits' with their Great Reset Agenda”- https://youtu.be/IC5xsfDJfS0

Sky News host Cory Bernardi says the World Economic Forum's latest simulation on a cyber attack that will shutdown the world economy "fits with their Great Reset Agenda".

"Imagine how quickly society would disintegrate if electricity, water, fuel and other essentials were shut down due to a cyber attack," Mr Bernardi said.

"We'd have a new collective enemy to unite against while of course demanding that government save us all."

Mr Bernardi said the WEF appeared to identify the problems they find as needing a "global centralisation of power".

"It seems that every problem identified by this mob and their allies in the international bureaucracy requires the global centralisation of power and decision making.

"And this latest simulation neatly fits with their Great Reset agenda."

“Firearms: SAPS accused of ‘giving guns to gangs while disarming citizens’”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/firearms-control-amendment-bill-saps-gun-laws-vearey-latest-bheki-cele/

The DA said on Monday that investigations into the SAPS have revealed mountainous corruption, and continued to condemn the Firearms Bill.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) have continued to condemn the proposed Firearms Control Amendment Bill, saying that while Police Minister Bheki Cele remains hell-bent on allowing the controversial legislature to be be passed, he remains complicit in alleged corruption within the SAPS that facilitates the funnelling of guns to gangsters.

The DA’s Shadow Minister for Police, Andrew Whitfield, said in a statement on Monday that investigations conducted under the “Project Impi” probe have “revealed the extent of rot amongst SAPS officials selling guns to criminals”. He said that by disarming ordinary citizens while “illicitly selling firearms to crooks”, SAPS is standing by as crime runs amok on South Africa.

DA POINT TO SAPS CORRUPTION

Whitfield said that instead of enabling its officers to combat corruption, fight crimes and protect South Africa’s citizens, Cele is “trying to remove people’s last line of defence against increasingly violent crimes through its draconian Firearms Control Amendment Bill which seeks to remove self-dense as a reason to own a gun in South Africa”.

He said that weapons revealed to have been handed over to known criminals through the Project Impi investigation are the same ones that are then used in all manner of criminal activity, including gang violence and cash-in-transit-robberies.

“This means that South Africans are hobbled on two fronts when it comes to eradicating violent crimes – on the one hand, SAPS is rife with corruption and ineptitude and there seems to be little political will to truly address this; and on the other hand, law-abiding citizens’ last line of true defence against violent criminals are being taken away,” said Whitfield.

OPPOSITION TO FIREARMS BILL CONTINUES TO MOUNT

Whitfield said that Project Impi’s successes include the arrest of former police colonel Chris Prinsloo, who “testified to distributing at least 2 000 firearms that were meant to be destroyed and funnelling them to a reservist, Irshaad Laher, who smuggled them to the Western Cape”.

He also cited the arrest of alleged 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield and members of his family, as well as and three Central Firearms Registry police officers, in 2014.

Whitfield said that despite these notable efforts, the task force has since collapsed, with recently dismissed Western Cape detective head Jeremy Vearey saying in an affidavit that “Operation Impi has been decimated on the orders of SAPS management.”

“These examples clearly illustrate SAPS unwillingness to truly eradicate the corruption within its own ranks. Minister Cele and SAPS leadership would rather sacrifice ordinary, law-abiding South Africans,” said Whitfield.

“The nearly 69 000 signatures on the DA’s petition opposing the Firearms Control Amendment Bill shows South Africans are not willing to forfeit their last line of defence, and neither are we. The DA will continue to use all available means to oppose this Bill and to also hold the Minister and SAPS to account.”

“ANC WANTS TO EXPROPRIATE YOUR DATA AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY” -https://youtu.be/EdymdAscXaw

“Expropriation of intellectual property: The Taxpayers’ Union of South Africa launches campaign”- https://southafricatoday.net/south-africa-news/expropriation-of-intellectual-property-the-taxpayers-union-of-south-africa-launches-campaign/

The ANC now wants to expropriate intellectual property and data without compensation. The Taxpayers’ Union will fight to prevent this from happening.

When the ANC government first began to talk about expropriation without compensation, much emphasis was placed on land, which is undoubtedly very emotional and populist rhetoric. When the state mentioned property, what they were really after was all your property, including your data and intellectual property.

That intention is made abundantly clear in Government Gazette No. 44389: The Draft National Policy on Data and Cloud.

For starters, the plan proposes the creation of a high-performance computing and data processing centre, or HPCDPC, raising the risk that South Africans will be funding yet another tax-draining state-owned enterprise.

Then, on page 31, the draft policy states the following: “All data generated from South African natural resources shall be co-owned by government and the private sector participant/s whose private funds were used to generate such, and a copy of such data shall be stored in the HPCDPC.”

This should horrify everyone. As stated in the proposal’s scope on page 13, this will include the data of the entire private sector and individual citizens, raising privacy concerns.

Furthermore, the Government Gazette proposes on page 30 that all data in South Africa will be the property of the state, regardless of where the technology company is domiciled.

This threatens to nullify tech investments in South Africa and destroy the sector. International tech companies could pull out of South Africa. It is pure madness!

The Taxpayers’ Union of South Africa is ready to oppose these proposals with all the resources available to us, but we need the help of every one of you.

Firstly, share this with everyone you know to educate them on the terrifying proposals contained in the Government Gazette.

Then, it is also imperative that you fill in a written submission here to the government where you can express your concerns with the proposals.

Simply fill in your details on the link provided and write a comment on the proposal. The Taxpayers’ Union will then convert every one of these comments into formal letters, print them out, and deliver them personally to the authorities. The state is legally required to process every single letter. If they do not, we have a solid legal argument against the state because it did not follow due process.

The Taxpayers’ Union wants hundreds of thousands of such comments because by doing so, we create an administrative nightmare for the government, and hindering their ability to push through these draconian measures.

This is not a petition.

Petitions are legally seen as single submissions, which makes it easy for the state to respond. Running this campaign through individual formal letters is much more powerful.

“EFF harasses Enca reporters at anti-racism protest in Tokai” - https://youtu.be/_zC2xkZlNIk. Notice "Black Lives Matter" on a shirt.

“Watch: EFF supporters threaten eNCA journalists with a sjambok”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/watch-eff-supporters-threaten-enca-journalists-with-a-sjambok/

The bad blood between the EFF and eNCA continues to boil this week, following a sjambok-related incident on the outskirts of Cape Town.

The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) has reacted in horror, after they were alerted to a fractious altercation on Thursday. While leading an anti-racism protest in Tokai, Cape Town, a handful of EFF supporters were seen intimidating eNCA crew members, chasing reporters away from the event, and using a sjambok to threaten them.

‘SJAMBOK USED’ TO INTIMIDATE ENCA STAFF

Ayesha Ismail and Mario Pedro were caught up in the ugly scenes. The protest was organised after a local resident was accused of poisoning a tree, allegedly so ‘black children could not pick the fruit’. The entire furore has caused divisions in the community, but things got out of hand yesterday – and SANEF immediately jumped in to protect the broadcasters.

“The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) strongly condemns the unlawful and intimidatory actions by supporters of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on eNCA journalists. We believe that the deplorable actions of intimidation against eNCA anchor Ayesha Ismail and cameraman Mario Pedro have severe implications for journalism”

“One supporter even threatened the CREW with a sjambok while another is heard saying “we gonna teach you all a good lesson. Given the actions recorded on Thursday, SANEF calls on the leadership of the EFF, as a political party in a parliamentary democracy, to condemn such behaviour.” | SANEF statement

EFF ‘NOT SPEAKING’ WITH BLACKLISTED BROADCASTER

The EFF and eNCA aren’t on good terms, and that is putting it mildly. Ever since a bitter feud erupted in 2019 – where the broadcaster boycotted a party conference due to bans imposed on other media houses – the Red Berets have made no secret of their disdain for the channel. In turn, eNCA has been banned from speaking to EFF members.

However, one of their reporters secretly bagged an interview with Julius Malema last week, without the political firebrand knowing who he was speaking to. Juju has since condemned the ‘desperate act’, and in turn, the rift has expanded.

“A small, deep rural town in Western Cape battles the ravages of COVID-19”- https://youtu.be/YyWszjBTw3M

“Kliprand: Isolated town placed under quarantine needs food and water”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/kliprand-isolated-town-placed-under-quarantine-needs-food-and-water-western-cape-cape-town-vredendal-covid-19-19-june-2021/

The tiny town of Kliprand in the Matzikama Municipality – nearly 500 kilometres outside Cape Town – is in crisis. The entire town, which is home to about 250 people, or 50 households, was placed under quarantine after approximately 10% of the population tested positive for COVID-19.

The isolated community, which has been cut off from the outside world is appealing for help and needs food, water and basic supplies. A local principal is helping to coordinate relief efforts, according to reports.

KLIPRAND CUT-OFF

According to SABC News, the Kliprand community managed to avoid the COVID-19 pandemic for 15 months. However, once the virus entered the rural town the situation escalated rapidly – in a week 30 infections and three deaths were recorded. A town-wide quarantine was imposed to halt the spread. It is estimated that approximately half of the households have a positive case.

“We have limited resources at the moment and this makes it more difficult to cope with,” said Arrie Cloete, a local primary school principal, to SABC News.

“So, if there’s anyone outside who can help us, with any resources, anything, you’re welcome and our community members at the moment they are a bit scared because they do not know what will happen next.”

Cloete added that the Kliprand community is terrified because of the uncertainty around the virus and the three fatal cases already recorded in the town.

SHOPS CLOSED, QUARANTINE DIFFICULT

Most of the community lives in small RDP houses, which is proving to be a challenge in terms of quarantine. The nearest town, Vredendal, is 150 kilometres away and the closest isolation centre is even further.

A local reverend, Pedro Oktober, from Vredendal told the SABC that the community is doing their best to help Kliprand.

“The only shop there is closed, the soup kitchen is closed… the community is in dire need of food and water,” said Oktober.

Kliprand residents need help and are contactable via Facebook. A cursory search reveals that many Samaritans, such as the South African Water Warriors group, on social media have begun coordinating relief efforts amongst themselves.

“Multinationals [Barclays Bank, De Beers and Anglo American] in scramble for Congo's wealth” – Scathing UN report (Part 1)dated 22 Oct 2002 at https://www.theguardian.com/world/2002/oct/22/congo.rorycarroll

Dozens of multinationals including Barclays Bank, De Beers and Anglo American have been accused of facilitating the plunder of the Democratic Republic of Congo's wealth in a scathing UN report published yesterday.

An independent panel of experts reported to the UN security council that 85 multinational companies based in Europe, the US and South Africa had violated ethical guidelines in dealing with criminal networks which have pillaged natural resources from the war-torn central African country.

According to the panel, a scramble for gold, diamonds, cobalt and copper by army officers, government officials and entrepreneurs from Congo and neighbouring African countries had generated billions of dollars which found its way to mining companies and financial institutions.

The panel did not detail the accusations against the 85 multinationals but said it had evidence that they violated OECD ethical guidelines, to which Britain was a signatory. The British government will be expected to take action because 12 of the companies are registered in Britain.

"Home governments have the obligation to ensure that enterprises in their jurisdiction do not abuse principles of conduct that they have adopted as a matter of law," said the 59-page report.

The panel's report accuses a Zimbabwean businessman of procuring military equipment from BAE Systems (part of the former British Aerospace) in violation of European sanctions. The report named John Bredenkamp as a key investor in the Aviation Consultancy Service Company, which represents BAE Systems. The report alleges that he offered to mediate sales of British Aerospace military equipment to Congo. The panel said he procured aircraft parts for Zimbabwe, which was propping up the Kinshasa government.

"Mr Bredenkamp's representatives claimed that his companies observed European Union sanctions on Zimbabwe but British Aerospace spare parts for Hawk jets were supplied early in 2002 in breach of those sanctions," the report said.

The publication of the report caught several of the multinationals by surprise and they scrambled to obtain copies.

A Barclays spokesman said: "We have not yet seen a copy of the report . . . but I can assure you that we take our ethical responsibilities extremely seriously and apply high standards of business conduct across our operations worldwide."

De Beers declined to comment until it had seen the report and Anglo American did not return calls. The other British-registered companies were Afrimex, Mineral Afrika, Euromet, Das Air, A Knight International, A&M Minerals and Metals, Alex Stewart, Arctic Investment and Amalgamated Metal Corporation.

François Grignon, the central Africa director for the research organisation International Crisis Group, welcomed the report's targeting of multinationals. "Even providing a bank account to those who are exploiting the resources is a substantive role," he said. "The corporations must accept responsibility. They benefit more from this dirty business than those doing the digging and mining."

The report named an additional 29 companies and 54 individuals, mostly African and Belgian, which it said were directly involved in the plunder and should be considered for financial restrictions.

“Multinationals [Barclays Bank, De Beers and Anglo American] in scramble for Congo's wealth” – Scathing UN report (Part 2)dated 22 Oct 2002 at https://www.theguardian.com/world/2002/oct/22/congo.rorycarroll

The five-member panel had Egyptian, Canadian, American, Belgian and Senegalese members, and British and Swiss technical advisers. It was mandated by the security council to investigate the scramble for Congo's resources in the wake of four years of war which left 2 million dead.

Some of the report's harshest criticism was levelled at officials from several African countries who stayed in Congo after peace deals led to the official withdrawal of outside forces. The list of the accused is a roll call of top military officers, government officials and businessmen, including the Rwandan army's chief of staff, James Kabarebe, Zimbabwe's parliament speaker, Emmerson Mnangagwa, and Uganda's army chief of staff, Major General James Kazini.

"The elite networks derive financial benefit through a variety of criminal activities, including theft, embezzlement, diversion of public funds, undervaluation of goods, smuggling, false invoicing, non-payment of taxes, kickbacks to public officials and bribery," the report said.

So lucrative and elaborate was the looting that there were attempts to prolong the fighting by stirring conflict between rival militias and rebels. "Those [criminal] groups will not disband voluntarily. They have built up a self-financing war economy centred on mineral exploitation," the panel said.

Rwanda's claim to have stayed in Congo to hunt the Hutu interahamwe militia responsible for the 1994 genocide was described as a cover for its army's desire to strip minerals. The report even claimed that Rwanda had collaborated with its enemies. It cited a letter from Jean-Pierre Ondekane, a senior pro-Rwandan official, urging all army units to maintain good relations "with our interahamwe and Mayi-Mayi brothers", and "if necessary to let them exploit the sub-soil for their survival".

“Children are murdering their parents and police are ‘extremely concerned’”- https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/children-are-murdering-their-parents-and-police-are-extremely-concerned-mpumalanga-25-june-2021/

The police say two parents were “mercilessly hacked to death by their children” in separate incidents this week.

Two brutal killings in Mpumalanga has the acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Thulani Phahla, “extremely concerned.” This comes after children murdered their parents, in two separate incidents, out of “uncontrollable anger,” according to the commissioner.

POLICE SHOCKED BY FAMILY MURDERS

According to the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) spokesperson in the province, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, two incidents, where parents were “mercilessly hacked to death by their children”, were reported in the same district.

In the incident that took place on Tuesday, 22 June, a 55-year-old man was reportedly hacked to death by his 28-year-old son. “This horrible incident sent shock waves through the community and it is said to have occurred at Mabharhula Trust in Calcutta near Hazyview,” said Hlathi.

Some of the community members reportedly caught the son and allegedly assaulted him.

When the police arrived at the scene they found the father lying in a pool of blood with multiple wounds to his body – he was certified dead by paramedics.

A murder case was opened and the son was arrested. The suspect is currently under police guard at a hospital because of the alleged beating by the community. Once he is fit, the suspect is expected to appear before the Mkhulu Magistrate’s Court.

In a separate incident, a 17-year-old boy allegedly stabbed his uncle, who was his sole guardian, to death after a heated argument on Monday, 21 June. The incident took place at Ratanang Village in Casteel near Bushbuckridge.

According to the police investigation, the teen was at home when his uncle arrived and an argument broke out. The suspect stabbed the deceased in the upper body multiple times. “The victim unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and the matter is currently before court,” said Hlathi.

POLICE COMISSIONER DENOUNCES INCIDENTS

Major General Phahla reiterated that violence is not the way to resolve disputes. “These incidents are seriously regrettable, family members should be there for each other and not turn against one another,” said the police commissioner.

“Be that as it may, the law must take its course and people know that such actions have serious consequences,” concluded Phahla.

“Cross-border smuggling stolen vehicles: 6 SANDF members arrested for assisting syndicates”- https://southafricatoday.net/south-africa-news/limpopo/cross-border-smuggling-stolen-vehicles-6-sandf-members-arrested-for-assisting-syndicates/

In response to the scourge of cross-border crimes in South Africa, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in collaboration with Crime Intelligence, National Intervention Unit and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) arrested 6 soldiers aged between 30 and 51 on Monday, 21 June 2021 for the alleged corruption.

The suspects were deployed at Beitbridge Border Post to defend and protect the territorial integrity of the Republic of South Africa between 2017 and 2019. Instead of carrying out their constitutional mandate of ensuring national security at the borders, they allegedly connived with vehicle smuggling syndicates to smuggle stolen vehicles through the Limpopo River in exchange for money.

It is further alleged that the suspects would demand R15 000 per vehicle that would be shared among themselves, which also endangers the majority of their honest colleagues. A project driven investigation dubbed “Night Vigil” was instituted to probe deeper into the matter.

The suspects whose military ranks range between Lance-Corporal and Private were on the radar of the police until they were arrested by the team in North West, Northern Cape and Free State provinces.

All the arrested suspects are expected to make their first court appearance in the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 23 June 2021.

The National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya hailed the collaborative efforts by the integrated team to vigorously fight and root out corruption in the public and private sectors. “We certainly hope that our joint team efforts will inspire confidence in the entire civil servant and the South African community at large. Those who are entrusted with responsibility to protect and serve must never be tempted by dirty money from organised criminal groups, otherwise the lessons will be learnt the hard way”, said Lieutenant General Lebeya.

“SA on its knees: Dams, rivers and streets overflow with sewage, yet no solution from DWS”- https://southafricatoday.net/south-africa-news/sa-on-its-knees-dams-rivers-and-streets-overflow-with-sewage-yet-no-solution-from-dws/

AfriForum raised its concerns on 24 June 2021, about the general lack of political will displayed by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) to find local solutions to the ongoing water and sanitation problems that currently have the country on its knees. AfriForum’s concerns come after Minister Lindiwe Sisulu’s answers to a series of parliamentary questions about the remuneration, qualifications and responsibilities of the 25 Cuban engineers who were recently appointed.

According to Lambert de Klerk, Manager of Environmental Affairs at AfriForum, the civil rights organisation recently sent comprehensive recommendations to the minister and her team. “Just like most other state departments, the DWS is paralysed and simply not competent enough to implement sustainable solutions in the country’s municipalities to deliver water and sanitation services that communities have a right to. AfriForum’s recommendations for interventions on various levels are workable; yet the DWS’s echoing silence on the matter says a lot,” De Klerk says.

“AfriForum’s recent participation in the management of water and sanitation plants in Koster through its services company Pionier made it perfectly clear that communities and local experts are willing and competent to ensure sustainable interventions. Legislation allows for community/public partnerships, for example, but the will lacks in municipalities and state departments alike.

“Local solutions for local problems are a reality. AfriForum’s 155 countrywide branches are ready to support the DWS and municipalities; the expertise that Sisulu wants to importing is immediately available among our member base and networks,” De Klerk says.

However, municipalities and municipal managers have been declared untouchable by the ANC. State departments are too scared to bring the intricate network of deployed cadres to book. “While the minister is appointing Cubans and is apparently planning on appointing a few more, our dams, rivers and street are overflowing with sewage. It is a sad day when the hand that provides solutions is slapped away because established interests and outdated ideologies are to be protected,” De Klerk concludes.

“Human rights obligations: ANC has no moral high ground to preach down to Israel”- https://southafricatoday.net/south-africa-news/human-rights-obligations-anc-has-no-moral-high-ground-to-preach-down-to-israel/

On 24 June 2021, during a motion in the Gauteng Legislature on Israel’s attitude towards Palestine, the FF Plus made it very clear that the ANC has no moral high ground to be able to point a finger at Israel.

It is ironic that the Gauteng ANC government dares to debate Israel while the ANC itself is failing to fulfil its own national and international human rights obligations.

The ANC supports Hamas – an organisation that aims to eradicate all Jews in the Middle East and that is complicit in undermining bona fide attempts at establishing peace. Thus, the ANC must realise that it is siding with anti-Semitism.

The ANC clearly demonstrated its moral fibre when the party actively protected and helped the then President of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, to escape from South Africa.

The ANC did this while the International Criminal Court (ICC) had already issued warrants for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.

What makes the ANC’s conduct even more despicable is that Al-Bashir’s crimes had been committed against fellow Africans, while the ANC always seems to pride itself on the fact that it advocates for the protection of Africans. Therefore, the ANC has no moral standing.

Furthermore, and closer to home, the ANC is actively discriminating against minorities. Through legislation, white people are prevented from getting jobs and running businesses. Minorities’ right to mother-tongue education is actively being diluted, while there are also attempts to disarm them and to dictate what may happen and what may be believed in the area of religion. All of this is happening amid a context where minorities are increasingly being demonised.

It is very ironic that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East that creates space for minorities in public life, Parliament and government. In fact, there are Arabic minority parties that are currently part of the ruling coalition government in Israel.

In Palestine, people’s general life expectancy is 74 years, while in South Africa it is just 64.

So, the Israeli state must be allowed to work out its own peace plans with the Palestinian people – without Hamas.

The ANC certainly has no moral high ground to preach down to Israel.

“Horrendous sexual abuse: Law enforcement is failing child victims”- https://southafricatoday.net/south-africa-news/north-west/horrendous-sexual-abuse-law-enforcement-is-failing-child-victims/

AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit on 8 July 2021, during a media conference announced the unit’s involvement in four cases of the most serious child abuse that the unit has ever encountered. In three of the cases the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), despite overwhelming evidence, decided to withdraw the charges against the accused persons in the Brits Magistrate’s Court. In the fourth case the NPA did institute prosecution against certain accused persons but failed to prosecute others.

Adv. Gerrie Nel, Head of AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, and his team act on behalf of Michelle de Beer, a carer at Place of Safety, and Adv. Sylna Neuland in these cases. The unit wrote to Adv. Sibongile Mzinyathi, the Director of Public Prosecutions in Pretoria, in this regard to demand that the NPA institutes or re-institutes prosecution against all parties against whom there is prima facie evidence.

“Although we request in our letter that the Director should launch an urgent investigation into the apparent ineptitude of law enforcement in the Brits jurisdiction with regard to the handling of these cases, the Private Prosecution Unit will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is done for these extremely vulnerable members of our society. These four cases contain evidence of some of the most horrendous sexual offences against children that I have encountered throughout my career. Despite this serious degree of abuse, it seems that law enforcement in Brits is either inept or unwilling to protect these children. These children have not only been forsaken by their parents and caregivers, but also the criminal justice system,” says Adv. Nel.

Below is a brief summary of each case:

Brits CAS 81/12/2018

The NPA (without providing reasons) withdrew this case against the accused who allegedly raped and sexually assaulted his five-year-old stepdaughter. The little girl told the social worker that her stepfather came into her room at night and penetrated her with his fingers, tongue and penis. She also said that it hurt and that there was a lot of blood. Her stepfather also assaulted the girl with a belt and covered her mouth during the attacks if she cried. The child’s mother was, according to evidence, aware of the rape and heard her daughter crying night after night. The mother wrote in a letter to their pastor’s wife that the Lord prevented her from entering her daughter’s room in case the accused became violent. She also admitted in an email that she was aware of the rapes.

Brits CAS 78/12/2020 and Brits CAS 253/12/2020

It can be inferred from evidence in this matter that the six-year-old girl’s grandmother and mother used her as a commodity by allowing her to be raped for payment. The little girl described how offenders put a sponge used for washing dishes in her mouth during the rapes and sexual molestation to prevent her from making any noise. Three of the perpetrators have been charged following the unit’s involvement in the case on 29 June 2021, but two other perpetrators identified by the girl have not been arrested yet.

Brits CAS 250/10/2020

In this case the biological mother of the victim, who was only seven weeks old at the time, admitted to a kindergarten teacher that she put her baby in a freezer if he cried too much. The baby sustained burn wounds, because he had been left in the freezer for such extended periods of time. The J88 of the baby further contains a list of 12 injuries. Both the mother and father of the baby were charged in November 2020, but the prosecutor (again without any reason) has in the meantime decided to withdraw the case.

Brits CAS 03/05/2021

In this case the two-and-a-half-year-old girl was so badly sexually molested that her mother sent her to school with a pad in her undergarments to mask the bleeding. From the girl’s statement the only logical conclusion is that her injuries were inflicted by her father. Yet again the NPA failed to institute prosecution.

“These are horrendous cases of child abuse. In cases where parents or caregivers do not protect children, society demands that law enforcement intervene and prioritise the best interests of the child. Government however only pays lip service to the fight against violence against children. We have failed to see any improvement at the level where it matters most, our courts. Furthermore, it is regrettable that we cannot reveal the names of these accused persons. We understand that the Criminal Procedure Act aims to protect children by prohibiting the revealing of perpetrators’ identities, however, in cases such as these it only serves to protect the paedophiles. Society has a right to know who these perpetrators are,” says Adv. Nel.
