Happy Sabbath Anons!
1-The Bible NT specifically message is not lost it hasn't been watered down it's a faithful representation of Jesus' words. From it we know what Jesus said and what he means and it's for all mankind.
> I can understand this. However, i would have questions.
> How can you say it has been "watered down" yet not believe that it had been altered or that key parts have not been excluded?
> I am asking, not in attempt to prove you wrong or challenge your faith but in an attempt to discover where the line is drawn.
> To me, it seems as though you (& everyone esle) rely on faith. Faith that God would not allow the word to be corrupted by man. Following this logic, one could make the argument that you are actually putting your faith in man and faith in Gods word second.
> I am assuming that your argument would be that you put your faith in God to reveal the true understanding of the word and that the most important parts are included. Maybe this is because those controlling what portions of God's word we see couldnt understand the meaning of God's word and, therefore, couldnt grasp the gravity of including those parts.
> Either way, it seems to me that faith is required to understand God's word and this understanding is revealed to us through prayer.
> To this point, i can agree with you. However, this is where what I believe the true deception occurrs. We are taught from an early age that God is almighty and that the bible is a collection of stories that relay the words of Christ/God. So, we are taught that by attending church we will recieve the word of God. Again, you are putting your faith in man. What do we do? We pay the church. Why? So that this "man" can dedicate his life to understanding the word of God ij hopes that he will give us the true understanding.
> This is why I believe church is the problem. We think we can free up time to do other stuff by paying someone else to learn about God.
> Doesn't this mean we are trying to buy our way into heavan?
> Does God accept payment for favor?
Isaiah 40:8 - The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Matthew 24:35 - Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Matthew 5:18 - For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
