I seem to be having trouble posting this so sorry if it turns up more than once.
Please add his name to the list as December 5 2016.
Prime Minister Sir John Key -
He was expected to lead National into the 2017 election, but on December 5 2016 announced that he would resign as Prime Minister and leader of the National Party.
He was succeeded by Bill English on December 12 2016.
A ‘belief’ is that he was specifically brought into the National party to advance TPP, among other things, and that he suddenly resigned as PM after eight years on
December 5 2016 due to Donald J. Trump winning the 2016 US Presidential election on Tuesday, November 8 2016. President Trump formally pulled the US out of the
massive 12-nation TPP trade deal on January 24 2017.
Former Prime Minister Sir John Key had been determined to push TPP through in NZ and had pledged 13.7 million taxpayers dollars to the Clinton Foundation of which 7.7 million had already been paid. He'd also said 'things' about Trumps TPP stance during the race. In essence he'd backed the wrong side… and lost.
