I've seen a similar analysis and think "6 million" as the death toll of Jews in the Holocaust is pretty well debunked. (I am Jewish fwiw.)
Jews have as many problems with fakers and charlatans claiming to represent them as anyone else. "Jewish Voice for Peace" is a pro-Palestinian org, for example. Shimon Peres was a big politician in Israel for many decades and just seemed to cause trouble. So people might use such exaggerations to promote themselves, at the expense of real credibility.
There was Kristallnacht. There were Jewish ghettoes, and many Jews were killed as well as gypsies and other "undesirables". There are mass graves around eastern Europe. But 6 million, and massive deaths in gas chambers, are stories that aren't supported by the current scholarship of Jews.
