The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA)

Background. Like Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (the "Wiretap Act"), the FISA legislation was the result of congressional investigations into Federal surveillance activities conducted in the name of national security. Through FISA, Congress sought to provide judicial and congressional oversight of foreign intelligence surveillance activities while maintaining the secrecy necessary to effectively monitor national security threats. FISA was initially enacted in 1978 and sets out procedures for physical and electronic surveillance and collection of foreign intelligence information. Initially, FISA addressed only electronic surveillance but has been significantly amended to address the use of pen registers and trap and trace devices, physical searches, and business records.

FISA also established the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), a special U.S. Federal court that holds nonpublic sessions to consider issuing search warrants under FISA. Proceedings before the FISC are ex parte, meaning the government is the only party present.

Hey anon. Hope you don't mind me butting in mid-stream and commenting in your thread…just wanted to say I think you have the right/correct approach.

You address the complexity and depth of the problem without freezing at the stage where you're denigrating any specific group. Let people draw their own conclusions, and if they feel a more narrow focus is warranted, they can argue it. The latter approach will automatically turn away many people who would otherwise want to help. The brainwashing is very deep and they will reflexively turn away at even the slightest trigger.

Again, only my opinion, but I think the meme is great too. It says a lot without having to say it. It's a good blend of characters. A Rosetta-stone of sorts. If certain people are offended, too bad. That's how they interpret the picture, not what it specifically depicts. Think it's the only way this will work.

Have to agree with you, well said. If my personal experience is any accurate measure, it is going to be next to impossible for many to hear, see, understand and agree about the darker stuff. It's too much for many. In order for them to maintain that their experiences and judgment in life has been correct, means not accepting those things. Psychologically they cannot handle it.
