Plane was loaded with some sort of explosives and was remote controlled and aimed towards a target after doing loops etc.

Plane was loaded with explosives and Rich wasn't really the pilot.

OR

Plane was not full of explosives but was used as a missile to target someone specific on the island, BUT it was reported that no buildings or other people were killed.
