I'm not afraid of God, nor will I ever be. My understanding is that I (and all of us) are made in "His" image. This includes the pleasant stuff and the unpleasant stuff, doesn't it? We're "His" children.
Do you look at a child and think "Welp, you wrote on the walls with a permanent marker and now you must do penance to appease me and if you don't I'll punish you for the rest of your life?" or do you think "This is a pain in the ass and how do I teach this little person how to channel that creativity in a useful or at least less annoying way?"
Yes, I know that some parents DO choose to punish their children for eternity and what a bummer that would be for everyone involved. Especially the parents. (The kid can move on and reject that shit.)
