Project Perseus. After arriving in Iraq, the Project Perseus team commenced the performance of 34 flights, approximately 6 to 7 hours each, under the direction of Task Force ODIN, using a modified NP-3D aircraft from the US Navy's Scientific Development Squadron One (VXS-1).
On NRL's agenda is developing and improving SAR data acquisition, signal-processing and -exploitation algorithms, data screening and compression techniques, and ways to disseminate this information to military users.
There are many sub-divisions in the task force: Thor, Highlighter, Desert Owl and Night Eagle to name a few
