Complex legal question, because it’s arguable (though not yet pursued for obvious reasons) that all the mainline social media platforms were financed by public money initially and therefore are surrogates for the government. 1A jurisprudence could extend free speech protections to a “private” company on those grounds. But that would be to admit to all sorts of DARPA/DS fuckery. Some other approach, if any, seems more likely.
