A crowdfunding campaign to build a wall on the southern border has surged by $500,000 overnight, bringing the total raised so far to nearly $2.8million of a $1billion goal in just four days.

More than 46,000 people had contributed as of Thursday morning. Many of the donations ranged from $5 to $250.

The increase in funds was significant considering the campaign raised $800,000 in the first three days.

Conservatives exasperated with President Donald Trump's never-ending quest to secure funding for the wall were quick to pony up cash for the GoFundMe campaign, which was launched by an Iraq war vet.

Justice Department levies charges against 2 Chinese hackers

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department is charging two Chinese citizens with carrying out an extensive hacking campaign to steal data from U.S. companies.

An indictment was unsealed Thursday against Zhu Hua and Zhang Shillong. Prosecutors say they were acting on behalf of China’s main intelligence agency.

Court papers filed in Manhattan federal court allege the hackers were able to breach the computers of more than 45 entities in 12 states. The victims were in a variety of industries from aviation and space to pharmaceutical technology.

Prosecutors charge that the hackers were able to steal “hundreds of gigabytes” of data.

Court papers say they hacked computer service providers to gain access to the networks of businesses and governments in order to steal intellectual property and business data.

#BREAKING: The Justice Department has unveiled charges against two alleged Chinese cyber-attackers, NPR's @relucasz reports.

The two men, Zhu Hua and Zhang Shilong, are part of a “hacking group” known as Advanced Persistent Threat 10, according to the charges, working for a company called Huaying Haitai and in association with the Chinese Ministry of State Security.

The men are charged with conspiracy to commit computer intrusions, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The charges detail alleged cyber-attacks that targeted intellectual property, confidential business and technological information and other data at more than 45 companies in at least a dozen U.S. states and within U.S. government agencies.

The men are unlikely to be extradited and face trial in the U.S., but the charges are part of an ongoing strategy by the government to detail alleged cyber-crimes to demonstrate how much information the U.S. has about them, and to curtail more cyber-attacks via deterrence.
