some people were proud and upright and didn't have any problem with being who they were. And bared the brunt of a lot of descrimination.
Other people chose to hide the facts of their pasts. Why?
we can't really know.
It's something that isn't limited to just one group.
If we could really know all the family trees we'd be surprised, perhaps, that some people's relatives didn't really come from the same place where they told their children they did. How would know?
