There is no trick as far as I know. Only had it NOT hang once (what a surprise)! I just assume new thread will hang and open a new catalog about 10 secs later (coz it takes time for the new thread to show up). As long as that works, I'm happy.

Had a friend in a PhD program in social psychology, early 90s. Even back then, they were talking about simply ignoring (ie, suppressing) research on sex differences so people wouldn't think of them as different. He transferred out of that program within a month into cognitive psychology, where it's a little more hard-scientish.

Doing his part to shift the narrative. Very important, will take a lot of repetition. Dobb's isn't the kind of kind that speaks off the top of his head. Will especially traditionalists because they trust him.
