No they won't, nobody will address this. Here's the kicker.
She needed a test last month, HIDA scan. The day before the test, I got a text from the provide telling us our out of pocket for this test was $964. I called the insurance company and was told the provider requested a pre approval for $2,006 which the insurance company reduced to above figure. I called around and got the test done for $245 cash!!! I tried to submit the bill to the insurance company and was told I would have to pay a fine for getting care "out of network."
I just got the figures yesterday, haven't spoke to the insurance company, but with 20% copay I can get a pretty good idea of what has been billed for pre approval by these providers. Funny thing is, I can get the entire thing done elsewhere for $6500 cash. I plan on calling the providers today and attempt to negotiate, if they refuse then I will simply pay cash to the other provider and these others will get nothing from the insurance company.
I call it "your money or your life" healthcare. They are all greedy thieves playing the "coding" game. Fuck em.
