Anons harvest data points that are dispersed in space and time, record them mentally, and then when new data points arrive we reexamine our mental database for potential connections and probabilities. A lifetime of doing this gives anons lots of highly probable conclusions that would be difficult to prove to anyone lacking the same matrix of data.
One or two clues, could be just random probability.
When 5-6-7 clues join together to reinforce a common hypothesis, then it's out of the realm of random chance and becomes a near certainty.
