And was therefore prime real estate for the kind of development

That also happened along 5th Ave, NY

Beside Central Park.

This photo was from 1909

I have a color postcard version here

This would have originally been a Kromogram

Which required a Kromoscop viewer

But a Detroit company sent Kromograms to Switzerland

Where they were printed using the Photocrom process

To be sold as postcards on return to the USA.

In the Google streetview you can see the Congress Hotel

Which is now a part of the Congress-Plaza Hotel

Along with other buildings.

The ground floors have radically changed their look

But the buildings can be clearly recognized by the upper floors

And just beyond the Congress Hotel, after the cross street

Is another building clearly recognizable as the same

By its top 3 floors.
