A spy from the former communist superpower, the Soviet Union, congratulated socialist Bernie Sanders in March 1983 for winning re-election as mayor of Burlington, Vermont, and for meeting with him in Sanders’ office.

“The documents from the Sanders archives include a letter from Soviet Embassy First Secretary Vadim Kuznetsov in March 1983, congratulating Sanders on his reelection as mayor and thanking Sanders for receiving him in Sanders’s office,” The Washington Post reported on Monday. “Kuznetsov had been in Burlington to attend a conference on nuclear disarmament at the University of Vermont a few days earlier. Neither Sanders nor conference organizers appear to have read a 1976 Time magazine article that identified Kuznetsov as a member of a ‘Soviet intelligence squad’ posing as diplomats to infiltrate U.S. politics.”

Virginia Senate Blocks Gun-Control Bill

Two Virginia state Democrats joined Republicans to block a gun-control bill proposed by Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA).

The bill would have made it a felony for gun owners to “recklessly leave a loaded, unsecured firearm” around that could endanger a minor, Fox News reported. Two Democrats on Virginia’s Senate Judiciary Committee joined Republicans to vote against the bill, citing concerns of increased punishments for lawful gun owners. The bill was one of eight proposed by Northam.

Democrats Declined to Have Voting App Vetted: DHS

The Iowa Democratic Party declined to have a new voting application vetted by the Department of Homeland Security, the agency’s Acting Secretary Chad Wolf said on Tuesday.

The app, developed by Shadow Inc., was blamed for some of the problems during the Democratic caucuses on Monday night. The issues led to the results of the caucuses being delayed.

“Our cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency has offered to test that app from a hacking perspective,” Wolf said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.” “They declined, so we’re seeing a couple of issues with it.”

There was no evidence of a hack, Wolf said. “Right now, we don’t see any malicious cyber activity going on. No one hacked into it. This is more of a stress or a load issue as well as a reporting issue that we’re seeing in Iowa,” he said.

In 2018, Turkey and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) opposition forces launched Operation Olive Branch in the northern Syrian district of Afrin aimed at "clearing" the YPG and the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) from Turkey's Syrian border. Ankara later announced that Afrin was under the complete control of Turkish forces.

The Kurdish PKK/YPG group has fired four missiles into two schools and one mosque in the centre of the Syrian town of Afrin, killing one person and injuring seven, the Turkish Defence Ministry said on Twitter.

HuffPost UK editor works with gov’t censorship program while smearing anti-war scholars as tools of Russia

The Huffington Post has relied on Western government officials and organizations funded by Western governments to viciously smear anti-war academics as “useful idiots” of Russia, claiming they are being “used” by the Kremlin.

Ironically, HuffPost UK has done this while its own executive editor actively collaborates with the British Ministry of Defense in a program that censors journalism on behalf of “UK military and intelligence operations,” in order to protect “national security” interests.

HuffPost UK published a hit piece by Chris York on January 29 that hearkens back to the era of McCarthyite witch hunts. Titled “The ‘Useful Idiots’: How These British Academics Helped Russia Deny War Crimes At The UN,” York’s hatchet job is dedicated to destroying the reputations of several anti-war scholars who have done extensive research exposing the lies and regime-change propaganda spread by Western governments in their hybrid war on Syria.

It was York’s twelfth piece attacking this small group of academics. From the perspective of the British public, a group of semi-obscure professors is an unusual source of interest. However, it is clear that the UK military-intelligence apparatus that dumped untold millions of pounds into promoting regime change in Syria has a clear agenda here.

York’s article relies almost entirely on the unsubstantiated opinions of European government officials and groups that are bankrolled by the United States and European governments. It also features some glaring omissions, leaving out key details and misleading readers.

HuffPost UK executive editor Jess Brammar took to Twitter to promote the hit piece, claiming it shows “how a group of British academics have been used by Russia to help them deny war crimes by the Assad regime at the UN.”

Pro-Israel Buttigieg backer Seth Klarman is top funder of group behind Iowa’s disastrous voting app

Behind the app that delayed Iowa’s voting results is a dark money operation funded by anti-Sanders billionaires. Its top donor, Seth Klarman, is a Buttigieg backer who has dumped money into pro-settler Israel lobby groups.

At the time of publication, twelve hours after voting in the Democratic Party’s Iowa caucuses ended, the results have not been announced. The delay in reporting is the result of a failed app developed by a company appropriately named Shadow Inc.

This firm was staffed by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama campaign veterans and created by a Democratic dark money nonprofit backed by hedge fund billionaires including Seth Klarman. A prolific funder of pro-settler Israel lobby organizations, Klarman has also contributed directly to Pete Buttigieg’s campaign.

The delay in the vote reporting denied a victory speech to Sen. Bernie Sanders, the presumptive winner of the opening contest in the Democratic presidential primary. Though not one exit poll indicated that Buttigieg would have won, the South Bend, Indiana mayor took to Twitter to confidently proclaim himself the victor.

Iran to Execute Alleged ‘CIA Spy’ Accused of Leaking Nuclear Secrets

Iran sentenced a man to death on Tuesday for allegedly spying for the CIA and attempting to share information about Tehran’s nuclear program, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

Two people accused of working for a charity were concurrently sentenced to 10 years in prison for spying and five years in prison for acting against national security on similar charges, judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said, Fars reports.

“Amir Rahimpour who was a CIA spy and got big pay and tried to present part of Iran’s nuclear information to the American service had been tried and sentenced to death and recently the supreme court upheld his sentence and he will see the consequences of his action soon,” Esmaili added, referring to the individual facing capital punishment.

Esmaili provided no evidence of the nationality of the convicted individuals working for a charity. Iran does not recognise dual nationality and the judiciary prosecutes dual nationals as Iranian citizens.

China’s central bank conducted a series of easing measures on February 3, as stock markets plunged and growth was projected to drop to a record low in the first quarter due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The People’s Bank of China injected 1.2 trillion yuan ($174 billion) into the markets through reverse repo operations. Despite announcing the injection plan over the weekend, China’s stock markets plunged about 8% today, on their first opening day after an extended closure.

Will Democrats and the media blame Trump and Russia for Iowa Caucus technical difficulties?

Tonight couldn’t have been a worse night for Democrats. Their so called “most electable” Joe Biden will likely come in third or fourth places, the and results of the Iowa caucus have already been delayed for several hours. The Iowa Democrat party is claiming technical difficulties and making they are doing “quality control” on the vote totals. In other words, things must be so bad for Biden tonight that the Democrats are probably rigging the numbers behind the scenes, but they aren’t exactly doing it in a very secretive way.

Now, how long will it before before the Democrats blame Trump and Russia for the problems the Iowa Democrats are having tonight? Maybe they can throw in the Ukraine now, since that’s the whole basis for their sham impeachment.
