In my community (non-USA) it is normally very low-crime. However this week we have had a large number of armed robberies of grocery stores and other businesses.
A lot of people (and I'm not casting blame) don't have more than a couple weeks' emergency cash and that has run out for them. They're desperate and the desperation is going to grow.
Most national govts don't have the financial means to offer their people a large monthly payment like the USA is doing. Even for Americans, they have to wait a few more weeks to see their money.
Heard from a friend in Suriname that that country is teetering on the brink of governmental collapse due to the sudden work stoppages, currency exchange rate fluctuations, etc. We could be looking at a few dozen smaller/poorer countries going into economic collapse and rioting over the next month.
If that were to happen, it wouldn't be all bad. It's true that the ruling regimes in those places generally need to be replaced, but… replaced with what? It's not like Suriname and Zambia and Papua New Guinea have organized Patriot/Q/WhiteHat movements to just take over the reins of power and improve things.
