>A referendum on becoming a republic failed in 1999.
What's the feeling in your social circle about this? Can you gauge which way your friends and family would lean if a referendum was held again soon?
How would that change if Prince Andrew is charged?
For me, it's divided along pretty predictable lines;
Young people are either indifferent or would support an Australian republic.
Older people are more inclined to support the status quo and are reluctant to see the monarchy as a malevolent force.
Lets meme it into reality.
