The Lord’s Suffering Servant

See, my servant will prosper; He will be highly exalted.

But many were amazed when they saw Him.

His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from His appearance, one would scarcely know He was a man.

And He will startle many nations.

Kings will stand speechless in His presence.

For they will see what they had not been told;they will understand what they had not heard about.

ISAIAH 53:2-6 (NLT)

My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground.

There was nothing beautiful or majestic about His appearance, nothing to attract us to Him.

He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.

We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way.

He was despised, and we did not care.

Yet it was our weaknesses He carried; it was our sorrows that weighed Him down.

And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for His own sins!

But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.

He was beaten so we could be whole.

He was whipped so we could be healed.

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.

We have left God’s paths to follow our own.

Yet the Lord laid on Him the sins of us all.

LUKE 21:25-28 (NLT)

And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars.

And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides.

People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory.

So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!

REVELATION 19:12-16 (NLT)

His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns.

A name was written on him that no one understood except himself.

He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.

The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses.

From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations.

He will rule them with an iron rod.

He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress.

On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

A Message for the Nations

Come here and listen, O nations of the Earth.

Let the world and everything in it hear my words.

For the Lord is enraged against the nations.

His fury is against all their armies.

He will completely destroy them, dooming them to slaughter.

Their dead will be left unburied, and the stench of rotting bodies will fill the land.

The mountains will flow with their blood.

The heavens above will melt away and disappear like a rolled-up scroll.

The stars will fall from the sky like withered leaves from a grapevine, or shriveled figs from a fig tree.
