Absolutely, there is nothing that should ever replace your own wisdom. Even if you are technically right and flat out say "bullshit, X is right and Y is wrong" and the other person immediately believes it no questions asked (eg. celebrities and their followers) - it only leads to a copy-paste of opinion.
