Bill DeBlasio’s grandfather, Donald George Wilhelm. Grandpa Wilhelm wrote WWI propaganda for Herbert Hoover with Edward Bernays to get the American public to back the sending of US troops to Europe
Throughout the late 19-teens and early 1920’s Donald Wilhelm was the personal assistant / publicity agent of the future 31st President of the United States, Herbert Hoover.
Wilhelm wrote at least some of Hoover’s propaganda and also defended the efforts of the Creel Committee, which had come under scrutiny from the premise that government sponsored propaganda was undemocratic.

Richard Bissell, we learned was the brother-in-law of Hector C. Prudhomme. Hector C. is interesting on several fronts, including his involvement in the 1953 CIA backed coup d’etat in Iran that ousted the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed Mohammad Reza Shah (the Shah.)
As noted in this previous posts, Hector C. Prudhomme was working for the World Bank when he and former Texaco executive Torkild Reiber helped relieve the Iranians of the oil industry infrastructure they had recently took possession of, from the British. Also, as mentioned in this post, Bill deBlasio’s uncle, Donald George Wilhelm Jr. seems to have played a roll in the Iranian coup, or at least in the years immediately after the coup, as the Shah’s handler. Bill DeBlasio’s father was a Texaco Executive during the period and Maria DeBlasio (Bill’s Mom) was working for the lending arm of the World Bank at The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
Donald George Wilhelm Jr. (Bill DeBlasio’s uncle) and Hector C. Prud’homme collaborated to help install the Shah in 1953 and Donald George Wilhelm Sr. (DeBlasio’s grandfather) and Hector P. Prud’homme at least loosely collaborated to get the U.S. involved in WWI.
