Let's do a little bit of physics. Just a tiny bit.
All elementary particles can be described by wave equations. Mass can be converted to energy, and energy to mass, since "energy" and "mass" are just alternate descriptions of the same thing.
Follow me. This is an important thought-experiment.
Imagine a continuous point-source of energy somewhere out there in the universe. The energy radiates outward in all directions. One light-year out from the source, you can still measure some quantity of energy arising from that point source. One can imagine a sphere centered on that point source, representing how far the energy has travelled in one year. (Actually, every elementary particle can be described by a wave equation continually radiating from that particle's location on the time-space coordinate system.)
Now imagine very long periods of time. The energy has travelled further and is attenuated (1/r cubed) because it spread out in all directions. But with our imaginary perfect instrument, we can still measure a finite amount of energy (waves) that arose from that distance source.
Still with me?
Now imagine a second particle located somewhere else, also putting out a energy (waves) in all directions infinitely.
What happens when two waveforms overlap or intersect? You may have seen the complex waveforms on an oscilloscope where two (or many) waves of different frequencies and amplitudes modulate the same circuit. It's described mathematically by Fourier transform equations.
At an (x,y,z) spatial point where they intersect, the different waveforms add or subtract from one another. The result can be a different frequency and amplitude than either of the sources.
Now imagine ALL the elementary particles in the entire universe that are ALL continually radiating energy at one another. Wow. Hard to imagine that mess resulting in anything organized.
But that's a true description of the universe.
So how did it get so organized? With planets, stars, elements and chemistry, plants, biological creatures that reproduce and think and move and imagine…
In a nutshell, that was the explanation that made me realize the truth of God.
The more I thought about it, the more impossible it seemed for all this organized matter to have come into existence, with all those waves incoming from infinite time and space all colliding with one another and forming new waves and particles.
Remember – where two waves intersect, if their sum is a positive number of sufficient amplitude, an elementary particle springs into existence out of the Dirac Sea. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirac_sea And where their intersection gives a negative number, an elementary particle is extinguished and merges back into the Dirac Sea.
Isn't that amazing? The most powerful argument for the existence of God that I have heard.
Now, Buddhism knows the scenario described above through introspection and intuition and studying the law of cause and effect (karma). But Buddhism does not deal with the idea of God. It simply does not go there.
