There are things you can't find. There's content that too obscure for it to be known. There's content that's hidden behind paywalls. There's stuff that may simply be edits that won't ever be seen. There's content that disappears because artists nuke their accounts. And some of us are too busy to keep an eye on every single site. I even have a backlog of pixiv accounts to browse.

Let's not forget these threads are a great way to discover new content. ๅ็กใ can share with other ๅ็กใ that have similar interests. No slogging through random new uploads, poorly tagged images, or getting shit recs from some kiked algorithm. I find the latter to be a particular problem when looking for 3DPD content.
There's also finding oppai loli content. Gelbooru doesn't tag loli, Danbooru only has 1000 images, and lolibooru only has 800 images. Trying to find good images on pixiv can be a pain in the ass too. So being able to share them is nice.
I think a few years now. Sankaku has some oppai loli but it's pretty loose with what gets the tag.

Is hiding it really an issue? I could see people complaining if it went down for good. If this being an alternative that allows for a growth I can't see it as all too bad. You still don't need an account. It still allows content. It's still the best indexer. Imagine if it had gone down instead due to Google's crackdown? I'm just saying that it's obviously a cashgrab on gelb's end, but all the same it doesn't really bother me and it's better than posting (spamming) this here board. I can see the positives in hiding it, since I actually read up on the thing. It allows for an influx of new users that otherwise would have never found the place. New users means more tagging means an overall improved experience. How could anyone, assuming this logic, regardless of sell-out, be against this change?

Funny, I stopped using it because of its "high standards" where they remove the stranger and more fetishistic porn.
Sankaku is more of the opposite and low standards that even western art, western furry, bad 3dcg and deviant art (shitty poor quality) things shows up. But I haven't browsed it in a while.
I practically dropped danbooru after they fixed the BBB add-on being able to look at blocked content like loli. There's still a workaround but I still don't use it often.
If it's a filter setting you can't change those without an account from what I'm seeing, and there are no positives to hiding it. Same with Danbooru but that at least makes up for it with the community keeping everything well tagged and not having to browse through tons of crap like on Sankaku.
As for Pixiv that doesn't have standards but sometimes for low popularity things it's one of the only sources to turn to, and for artists I like it's a first-hand source while aggregators won't catch everything.
They may have improved the situation. Sankaku definitely hasn't about all I try there is stupid-huge breasts like your images but finding decent images of that is needles-in-haystacks bad.
Sankaku is best for animated works. Like people posting Patreon/Fantai/Pixiv FanBox content that are 20+MBs. So searching there everyone once in a while can next you some nice stuff.
Noted! Danbooru's OK for it sometimes in the case of Ugoira, but PixivUtil2 can also download and encode those for imageboard posting. Used to use Sankaku occasionally for finding JAV clips too but that's succumbed to the Western menace hard.
The change is stupid, but Gelbooru hiding loli doesn't need an account to unhide it. You can access the settings to unblock it without need an account.
