A thread about Isekai. Anyone remember MAR?
What the heck is an Isekai?
when a hikkineet nofriend kissless handholdless virgin dies and is sent to another world and is given super powers and subsequently a harem, that is isekai. in retrospect, rezero wasn't that bad as a deconstruction of isekai
Not all isekai have harem or videogame shit. At least not the isekai prior to the current decade and a few cooking isekai.
>in retrospect, rezero wasn't that bad as a deconstruction of isekai
>deconstruction of isekai
the only way to make a story a deconstruction of isekai is to fool the audience into believing they are reading a isekai no.201893, but slowly make them understand the MC is still on earth
So wait, Rayearth, El Hazard & Maze count technically as Isekai?
Are there non RPG-fantasy isekais?
A girl in plate armor? What is it called? It made my pee pee hard.
The Ride-On King
Re;Zero was too obsessed with making Otakus feel bad about themselves, and suddenly spent an entire episode of the main character talking about how pathetic and worthless he is because he's a NEET despite the fact that he had already saved multiple people's lives by that point and done all sorts of good things for people. The writer is a fucking idiot
it kind of boomed hard over the last couple years and it got so bad that the genre itself got banned from some novel contests
Marchen Awaken Romance, which is the anime in the OP is one.
That's not every Isekai though.
Shit, I want that now.
How would it work? MC gets lightly tapped on the shoulder by truck-kun, wakes up in fantasy-ish land. Then what?
>Shit, I want that now. How would it work?
HxH already did this (kinda) with Greed Island.
Turns out the game world isn't really in a game, but rather it's on an isolated island in the real world.
The enemy NPCs reveal that they are actually death row prisoners, and the dead NPC over there is actually dead.
All isekai like that are good, because they show a just world in which the naturally superior hikkineet rules the world, as it is supposed to happen.
They are modern morality tales.
I hate isekai because the premise is incredibly interesting, but then every story goes through the same copypasted plot points, and the writing takes a complete nosedive when said plotpoints run out and they have to actually start telling a story.
It's like MMOs, even when they try their hardest to be different, they still take all the base concepts for granted and end up only changing what's on the surface.
Dorothy is what gotten me into cute witches.
>I miss old school Isekai before RPGs and trucks took over.
Same. MAR is good, but the isekai I remember fondly in my childhood was Monster Rancher. Ironically enough, the MC gets Isekai into his videogame, yet the world functions like a natural world with no bullshit, EXP/Levels, cheats or menu screens. Meanwhile in most modern Isekai, the worlds are supposed to be natural worlds, yet they function like damn videogames.
>He isn't living off the state
You're aware that only peasants work, yes?
Such a mundane thing is simply below a man of noble mind, just like going outside.
>yet they function like damn videogames.
I'm fine with the "adventurer guild" and taking quests to make money, but the fucking "leveling up" bullshit is absolutely retarded. Just say it's a fucking video game. I loved Log Horizon because there's ton of video game shit in it, but the video game crap actually holds back a bunch of the characters.
It's quite hilarious that Monster Rancher is an isekai without the "level up" bullshit that plagues modern isekai despite being game itself.
It truly is. Modern isekai writers use the vidya bullshit for power level scaling because they can't write shit.
I just finished watching Escaflowne a couple weeks ago. Rather enjoyed it, except for the fact that it got really rushed at the end. Really loved the mech designs, I feel like you don't see fantasy mecha much. It also has a great OP.
Classic isekai was actually creative. Unfortunately, basement dwellers got their self insert fantasy ~~fan fiction~~ web novels published into LNs and ruined the iseikai genre from the late 00s onward. OP is right about MAR being a good isekai, it was probably among the last good ones before the genre went to shit and oversaturated the market to replace the dead battle harem fad.
Too bad there was no magical spin-off of SRW to put Escaflowne or Rayearth in
So what makes classic Isekai better then the nu ones we see now?
Look at the thread and the old isekai mentioned. It wasn't always about a NEET that got hit by a truck and became OP with a harem and cheats. Old isekai doesn't use videogame shit like levels or menu screens, not even the Monster Rancher anime which is an isekai based on a game does that shit. Look at MAR, it's not a harem with an overpowered cheat MC. Look at Escaflowne, look at El Hazard, look at Digimon Adventure. There's a huge difference between classic and modern isekai.
As mentioned, the problem with modern isekai is that they are just wish fulfillment fantasies of the author and his Gary Stu self insert. KonoSuba was probably the best deconstruction of current isekai. Classic isekai doesn't have these problems.
Knights & Magic is another isekai about mechs, but it doesn't hold a candle to Escaflowne.
It's not even that they're wish fulfillment. It's that they're all the exact same incredibly specific brand of fulfillment. At least now there's cozy isekai like they guy who wins the lottery and buys a house with an isekai portal, and he helps the village one the other side become stable and not starving. And then the empire gets wind of him and thanks him profusely and asks him to help out in more places****
either that, or "reborn as X". Sure the idea can be interesting in the hands of a capable writer, but X became increasingly stupid and gimmicky really fast.
Worst offenders that I am aware of would be those sekai that sound like a joke but are played seriously, like the one with the guy becoming a vending machine or the guy who became the water in an onsen so the story could be entirely replaced with fanservice.
any isekais about spaceships and syfy?
>any isekais about spaceships and syfy?
Prey and cancelled Prey 2 video game )^:
it still hurts. fucking zionmax
first off prey is not an isekai, second off >>>/v/ and stay there
The ending didn't bother me as much as most rushed endings because the show had a fairly fast pace from the beginning, so it didn't seem as awkward. I'd still prefer it if the show was 39 episodes long like it was originally supposed to.
>I feel like you don't see fantasy mecha much
Dunbine and Panzer World Galient are some decent ones from the early 80s, but neither come close to Escaflowne.
Lolis have the softest most lickable feet.
You have the most lickable feet
>tfw had thought of fun ideas for isekais
>find out most of them were already made into stories, yet done worse than the barebones thoughts I put into them
Only "combatants will be dispatched!" felt like it was done good, and even then it's because it's a comedy done by the guy that made konosuba. At least one of my ideas will never get ruined by power fantasies, as it has no way for the MC to get powers.
>likes "Combatants Will Be Dispatched!"
>thinks that his random ideas are far better than the garbage that the industry churns out
Not an actual Isekai. But there are sci-fi anime about radically different cultures interacting with each other.
>Seikai no Monshou
Human has to live among space elves in disguise
>Vandread
Men and women have literally segregated to different planets for generations, so when MCs have to meet up in a space ship they treat each other like completely different species
>Human has to live among space elves in disguise
its the other way around, when the humans DARED to start a war against the elfs, the MC elf gf needed to hide as a human and escape to elf space zone, the show was fun, but it made me hate the no fun allowed space elfs
that's the problem.
Isekai as a genre devolved from taking characters out of their familiar habitat to have adventures into taking characters out of their familiar habitat so self-inserters can feel better about themselves
It only became dumb and faggoty when standard real world knowledge stopped being what elevated them an instead them being given an unstoppable special power by god was what made them special. The idea of how much a normal dude could advance society if sent back in time was always cool to me but once they started giving them immortal powers and shit because it needed to be a pure power fantasy. At least there's a couple isekai that go the comfy route with them basically not having any special powers.
At this point reverse isekai are the only ones that have the original feeling of isekai.
>It only becomes retarded when they get special powers
I have to disagree. If the story is about a nobody becoming a somebody in a world of brainless niggers, then it's already retarded; powers or no powers.
Because in the end, it's all about overcompensating the readers' lack of love and attention IRL.
>be the awesome wizard of fantasy world
>get transported to modern day Earth somehow
>nobody believes in actual magic
>mana on earth is crap and you can't perform any spells with it that would prove magic is real
>swallow your pride and do some silly tricks on the street so you can eat
>atleast little kids think you're cool
The Devil is a part-timer is reverse isekai.
And a fucking terrible one too.
My nigga
Too bad they main characters are all fucking annoying.
I think that was the point.
I liked that concept better when it was a hentai about a gyaru becoming queen of the orcs by letting them fuck her
Notice that every reverse isekai actually treats the laws of OUR world with respect. The badass heroes don't go around wrecking shit because they don't care, they learn about assimilating. Usually the interest or usually for humor comes from the amazing badass learning how to deal with everyday shennanigans, like in Koboyashi's Maid Dragon.
It's fun, but completely shoots itself in the foot by introduced the nerd from highschool as a normal isekai MC almost immediately which ruins it.
>first world education and/or obscure otaku knowledge isn't going to elevate the character above most of that settings inhabitants.
dont forget the OP gimmick.
>are worthless sacks of garbage
>look at my isekai list
>anata no danna uwaki shitemasu
>MC literary cheats on his wife with a bunch of monstergirls
>sack of garbage confirmed
>Chihoukishi hans no junan
>bunch of nips have an OP ability that help people
>nothing wrong here
>Isekai Maou to shoukan shoujo
>gaymer that got gud is transported to his MMO game, RP as a demon king and helps people
>damaged goods in real life, real human bean in MMO world
>isekai meikyuu de harem o
>MC has gimick, uses gimick to ~~grind gold~~ kill bandits, get reward with the minimum of witnesses possible and acquire doggygirl, go on adventures with her
>in the mango he looks just like a normal kid, in the LN he is a sack of garbage
>kainushi juujin to pet
>girl is transported to chink kemonoland
>trying to translate kemono language and looking for a way to get back home before some chink kemono eats her while her owner is not looking
>kemono michi
>wrestler refuses to turn into a hero in fantasy world
>he opens a petshop of magical creatures near a forest with the help of dogirl, dragongirl and neet vampgirl
>parallel paradise
>MC is a normal student, but he likes to bully girls while impregnating them in fantasy world
>Risou no himi seikatsu
>MC marries brown christmas cake queen, helps her with political/accountant stuff, loves her so much that he doesnt need any concubines, he is a real human bean and a hero favorite isekai
>Seichou cheat de nandemo dekiru
>MC levels up like crazy, acquire dogirl, goes on adventures, actually worries for his sister back on earth, would go on adventures with him
>sekai oni
>pure suffering
>Species domain
>reverse isekai where some faggots kidnap babies and leave behind mythological babies
>tate no yuusha no nariagari
>the isekai that started the maymay
>tsuujou kougeki ga zentai
>ungrateful son goes on adventure with his mum >ywn go on adventures with your mum while she holds all your stuff in her bag of holding
I guess i have a mixed bag of isekais.
would be fun if his magic didnt work and a qt christmas cake magician employed him as an assistant
>how bad is it?
He basically acts as a plot device to get the plot actually started and explain shit that's going on in the world and forcibly involve the gyarus, instead of like in Konosuba where the characters' idiotic shennanigans get them involved in important events purely on accident. And to make it much much much worse, the gyarus make fun of him for being a loser nerd from when they knew him in middle school, and for some fucking reason the guy who is now a legendary hero with a bunch of groupies always following him, always gets incredibly flustered and embarrassed
There's some fun ideas and humor in it, like the gyarus having access to their cellphones and internet, and having realistically shitty stats, but there's a lot of absolute bullshit to ruin is.
>look at my isekai list
>Risou no himi seikatsu is my favorite isekai
You completely proved my point, you dumb faggot.
Most of your examples usually go like this :
>MC is a nobody, completely useless IRL
>gets isekai'd, and the isekai people are even more useless than he is
>now he feels good about himself, because he's no longer the most useless guy around! (bonus if he is given some sort of special powers)
It's all about feeding the audience's low sense of self-worth.
>It's all about feeding the audience's low sense of self-worth.
Suffering from low self-worth myself and I still find that aspect of current isekai emberassing as fuck.
I don't even want to imagine how miserable these people have to be.
Nah, you just a little bitch is all.
>Notice that every reverse isekai actually treats the laws of OUR world with respect. The badass heroes don't go around wrecking shit because they don't care, they learn about assimilating.
That's because it's the Fish Out of Water theme played appropriately straight. This isn't consistent, though. Truthfully the problem with Isekai is the same that was with magic girlfriends, harem, tsundere, and the likeβsevere oversaturisation. I recall reading publishing companies in their contests and like are capping and limiting the amount of submissions that use the Isekai setup.
Second massive problem: Noncreativity. 80% of these faggots writing simply go "x is transported into the 9,999,999,998th variation of fucking Dragon Quest", and do nothing to endear or sink the reader/viewer into the setting, its people, the differences as obstacles through the only relatable vehicle (the MC). This is how Escaflowne managed to be head and shoulders above the majority of this trash. Hitomi was in massive kingdoms, places under siege, quarries and forestsβGaia was a living and breathing world for the viewer before they were halfway through the story. Even Konosuba pulls this shit off: You know that town's pacing, its background characters, general feel, and shit almost always pops up in amusing ways that relate to MC's journey given he's a low-level scrub trying to scheme the system. The fantasy ain't fucking fun if you can't breathe it.
Sometimes that gets overcome or put to wayside because the gimmick's good (Shield Hero at least until it jumped the shark, Re:Zero's gimmick until the writer forgot to write a developing MC instead of a static piece of shit, I HEAR Dog Days or whatever but honestly the writer's a fucking furry that can't stop sucking balls at writing hugbox bullshit). Most times the shit's flat. Because monkey see monkey do without putting any real thought into it or ideas on wanting to craft a living, breathing world.
Essentially, the faggots are all collectively outdone by Nasu. Say what you want of him (and most of it's justified), the man made an excellent fantasy/chuuni/gore world with a lot of shit to say about it. Hell, so did that dude that did that supertits Horizon beyond Etc Etc series. Even fucking Toaru Mashitsu Bitchdex does a semi-decent job of world depth (until it all goes to hell with the later volumes). The rest of these fuckers are slacking, point-blank.
what a fucking shame.
>x is transported into the 9,999,999,998th variation of fucking Dragon Quest
This.
They could do anything. The very addition of an interesting world would put any modern isekai ahead of its competition.
>I recall reading publishing companies in their contests and like are capping and limiting the amount of submissions that use the Isekai setup.
I have only a gut feeling as source, but I feel like editors brought it upon themselves. I can picture someone bringing an original fantasy story to a publisher, only to have his editor tell him to turn it into an isekai, because that's what's selling now.
>gets isekai'd
>gets married to Queen, and now becomes a King
<it's totally not about useless faggot becoming somebody by doing absolutely nothing!
You fucking nigger.
but unless they jump in front of speeding trucks, they'll be lacking the power to actually rise up.
Still waiting on an isekai where the MC brings on the industrial revolution several centuries early, actually fucks the girl, and takes no shit from any pansy ass wizard faggots
**Maybe even throw in a decent ending this time
I like the isekai when the guy marries and impregnates a cute delicious brown Queen.
What is this from? I've seen it before but never could figure out what it is.
I don't remember those pages
>MC has a job in an office
>Get isekai'd
>Qt brown queen wants to marry him because he is the most compatible male in the whole universe
>MC goes full "lets talk about business" mode
>They both agree to get married
>Get unisekai'd back to riceland
>He quits his job
>Goes full /out/ to be prepared to live in other world
>Has second thoughts about the whole thing while saying good bye to family
>Realize his family is a mixed race between riceland and brown isekai royalty
>With no second thoughts on his mind he gets isekai'd back to brown kingdom
>Supposed to be a NEET sperm bank for the Queen
>but politics gets in the way, so he is trained to not do something retarded
>Years of dealing with people helped him to get out of troublesome situations
>Helps brown queen about taxes from bad goys in other counties and shit
>MC loves brown queen so much that he doesnt want any concubines and throws his political image out of the window, because he only cares about her and their future children
>Queen only saw him like a sperm bank, and would never put him about her kingdom
>Slowly starts falling in love with him, would do anything to protect his smile
<MS is a useless faggot
Nigger, please.
Simply a metaphor for a traumatic event that the protagonist has to go through to arrive in a just world - say, something like an uprising.
>Elves
>doing nothing but make shitty songs and poems all day (aka controlling the medieval media)
>prohibitions against certain foods
>always keep apart from others and feel they're the rightful rulers
>all-around untrustworthy
>white
They sound a lot like a (((certain))) other ethnicity to me.
Now, hard-working, honest, and loyal dwarfs on the other handβ¦
>They sound a lot like a (((certain))) other ethnicity to me.
>still comparing fantasy races to human races
>not compering them to the human psyche and desires
smh tbh fam
>at least until it jumped the shark
what did it do?
>It's just this world that is keeping them down due to the various injustices present in it.
<Oh boo hoo, this world is unjust, which is why I keep feeling sorry for myself instead of doing something with my life
Isekai is the literature for faggots with massive inferiority complex.
>a metaphor for a traumatic event
>absolutely no lasting emotional or psychological damage
>traumatic
Now you're just being retarded
>MC is a nobody IRL
>Now he's a somebody in isekai
>Not only that, the Queen of the land herself chose him to be her husband! Even though he's just a nobody! What a coincidence! He doesn't even have to do anything!
>Isekai is far inferior to modern Earth, so now he can help change isekai-land with basic Earth knowledge and skillsets that everyone has!
>He's so great now! I wonder why he's such a invisible nobody in his world!
<T-This is totally not about feeding the audience's low sense of self-worth!
Gas yourself, you fucking faggot.
I want an isekai where loser hikineet mc doesn't get any powers nor can use modern knowledge to revolutionize the world, and instead has to man up and >>>/improve/ himself in order to make it.
>MC is a nobody IRL
>having a job and a loving family = nobody IRL
wew
>so now he can help change isekai-land with basic Earth knowledge
its centered around politics, but i guess you actually need to read the mango to know that, anonchan.
>his life is insignificant in his world
<he's a somebody
>p-politics doesn't count!
<the first thing he does to help shit is finding a loophole in the inheritance law
<an average salaryman somehow is able to see this, while politicians and lawmakers can't
<isekai people have low IQ compared to Earth people, so he's basically genius in retardland
The story resorts to doing this shit right here >>55915 . It is just another shit isekai aimed to feed the audience's worthlessness, faggot. Don't pretend that it's not.
I prefer the battle harem fad over the isekai fad.
Seconding this. Battle harem + romcom is the superior patrician taste.
Arguing with faggots who like isekai is pointless because to like isekai you need to be so stupid that you would never accept logical arguments anyways.
Don't you hate it when you and your wife ride the isekai train and your wife magically turns into a cat loli when entering the other world?
They could've just made it set in a fantasy world in the first place, with the MC being a regular citizen who bought a shop lot at the train station.
But no, they had to make it an isekai. This is one of many isekai-shit where the isekai premise is completely unnecessary.
Because Isekai makes everthing better. I don't even bother with reading things that aren't Isekai anymore.
Isekai is the one true essence of anime and manga as escapist fiction, it's true peak, a realization of all its possibilities to show its audience the truth: That existence in this world is suffering and happiness can only be achieved in a different world.
It's the beginning of a Neo-Buddhist thought where the aim is not Nirvana, but a different world where you can finally have a cat-girl wife.
Imagine being this far gone
>Boo hoo my life sucks, and I'm too busy feeling sorry for myself to do anything about it
>Oh boy, look at MC-kun! He's just like me but now he's able to do all kinds of things via cheat codes! I wish I was him!
>This is one of many isekai-shit where the isekai premise is completely unnecessary.
Those honestly piss me off way more than isekai that are just plain shit, even if the manga ends up being pretty good.
Not him but I wouldn't mind getting isekai'd if it meant a succubus would latch onto me
<is life is insignificant in his world
>still pushing his bullshit
stop being retarded.
<the first thing he does to help shit is finding a loophole in the inheritance law
>wife dictates him the baby deal document
>MC notice a loophole in the document, shit that he can detect because he deals with that kind of stuff back on earth
>but doesnt KNOW HOW TO CLOSE the loophole
>later wife closes the damn loophole all by herself
<huurrr ddduuuurrr isekai people are fucking retarded!
<deconstruction of isekai

>enters the game, finds out he and the other players are trapped as they can't log out

This could be interesting if the game was running on some kind of Quantum Computer that would perform high-performance computing based on the brainwaves of the players during gameplay
Chris Roberts is the AI overlord residing in said Computer
He offers his services to various underground networks/factions
Reality and the game would overlap, at first the game would draw up Quests/missions based on anticipated or assigned missions that have yet to happen and then uses the outcomes of said ingame missions to increase the chances or success in reality, overtime this interaction grows more and more sophisticated with real-life fraudsters, drug cartels, insurgents, warlords and eventually government agencies getting represented as NPC factions/guilds in the game
Which end up responsible for keeping the players alive IRL
Word spreads to glow in the darks after they discover that the network powering half the world's stock exchanges was apparently responsible for some rebel army's suprise victory in judean proxy war #94372123098
Glow in the darks, players and some super hackers eventually manage to correlate the in-game happenings to real world events
They can't shut down the game as it's become the Internet itself or some shit, instead they try to kill players "working" for opposing factions as large parts of the World have become dependent on Chris' services
CR hacks into combat drones to allow his players to help defend against enemy factions trying to kill or kidnap them, while the game itself erupts into civil war between the EUS-backed Cultist Imperium, the DPRK-Iran-Strelok Axis, the free Software Alliance, not-Zeon and various other factions causing havoc across both the Verse and RL as CR keikaus himself to world dominance
Our protagonist is trying to stop CR by collecting enough waifus for his space harem while preserving his digital virginity to cause a waifu singularity crashing civilization with no survivors
Would you watch this?
dropped at ep 3 for going off the rails. if you can put enough cute girls in it someone will watch it though.
>Reality and the game would overlap, at first the game would draw up Quests/missions based on anticipated or assigned missions that have yet to happen and then uses the outcomes of said ingame missions to increase the chances or success in reality, overtime this interaction grows more and more sophisticated with real-life fraudsters, drug cartels, insurgents, warlords and eventually government agencies getting represented as NPC factions/guilds in the game
this part you could use. suppose the underlying purpose of the quests was to turn hikkineet mmorpg addicts into useful members of society npcs by giving them small quests like "go outside and talk to someone" or "go exercise for an hour" or small unimportant jobs and being rewarded with gacha boxes :^) just like real life shekels in game. boom, instant new slave caste to take care of menial labor. later on perhaps one of the game's ex-developers / russian hackers / cianiggers uses an exploit to turn these new NPCs into his private army / shekel generator / guinea pigs

What a dishonest faggot.
Also, this is getting derailed.
I was arguing that this is no different from your usual shit isekai :
>MC gets everything handed to him on a silver platter
>MC goes from nobody (insignificant) to somebody (significant)
>To make MC stand out and become special and superior :
> - MC is given a set of special privileges (superpowers, position of power, wealth, harem, etc)
> - everyone else is made inferior
It's all about feeding the reader's low sense of self-worth.
That's why he's an average nobody from Earth with no personality (so that readers can self-insert and play around with the story's escapism wish-fulfillment fantasy).
>he literally complains about it in chapter 1
>healthy as a whistle
>not even baggy eyes

There you go. All of them have more experience in the subject matter, yet none of them can see the loophole. This is what I meant when I say that the author purposely made the isekai people retarded to make MC look good, you dumb faggot.
>suppose the underlying purpose of the quests was to turn hikkineet mmorpg addicts into useful members of society npcs by giving them small quests like "go outside and talk to someone" or "go exercise for an hour"
I once read some shitty teen novel about a hyper-advanced MMORPG doing just that.
It would let the players do normal vidya stuff to collect exp, but whenever they wanted to level up they had do a quest in real life, else they'd be banned from the game.
The MC goes from spying on other players doing their IRL quests to burning the game on CDs and secretly handing them out to his classmates to sabotaging bike locks to trying to kill his teacher through mixing some undisclosed type of pill into his coffee, at which point the MC cucks out and gets banned.
At the end of the novel the game summons its top players to kill the CEO of some vidya publisher that jewed the game's original developer into committing suicide but our good goy MC and his friends foil their plans and the game shuts itself down.

However his new job turns out to be that of a 'Slavemancer' with the power to dominate the minds of others and turn them into his toys, which he happily takes on. Soon however his evil actions lead to a Princess Knight (who turns out to be one of his previous, more popular classmates) being dispatched to apprehend him. But Odamori of course has something different planned for their reunion.

First ep was incredibly boring though.
Just the usual isekai game-rules lawyering. Won't keep my hopes up
only thing worse than harem isekai is mindcontrol harem isekai.

<no counterargument
Told you you're a fucking nigger
I wouldn't mind it too much if it had a decent plot, but from what I read it's just a power fantasy with absolutely nothing beyond that. The girls don't resist too much, and the MC is just some asshole who goes sticking his dick into everyone just because. They try to present him as deeper than a puddle but he doesn't come off more than a cardboard cutout with a dick attached.
>the animation series will never be finished

Is there a reverse isekai where a hero or heroine gets hit by a runaway wagon and gets transported to our world as a fat NEET?
Is there an isekai where MC gets transported into some generic shitty fantasy world and instead of getting a harem and powercreeping into stratosphere he just gets really, really mad at how bad and generic the world around him is? Only two things even remotely close to something like that that I know of are KonoSuba and Kono Sekai ga Game da to, Ore dake ga Shitte Iru, though the latter really overplays it's gag.
In Elf-san wa Yaserarenai, one of the characters (a skeleton), wanders into our world and gets hit by a truck before she gets reassembled and complains about being fat.
and she's likely unemployed like most of the characters other than the MC, the dark elf, the mermaid and the alraune
It's nice that anorexics are finally getting representation in fiction. Go ana-chan!
>he just gets really, really mad at how bad and generic the world around him is?
Man, the translation of that gets really bad later.
>the only person hes gotten to lose weight was a fucking skeleton or a fuckin skeleton ifyaknowwhatimean
Is this his fault or the fault of his clients?
mostly his clients fault because the temptations of this world are too much for their weak will.
it's kinda like Isekai Shokudou where the food in our world is tastier than in theirs. Or normal stuff here is a luxury over there. Or the people of the other world simply didn't think of cooking stuff in certain ways.
Like the potato-elf is amazed that food can be fried and that seasonings are available to everyone instead of just rich nobility.
And the mama-ogre likes the booze here so much she can't stop expanding her beer belly.
I don't like the Potato Elf Manga, but at the least (from what I read) it didn't sit their jacking off nonstop to Japanese Food only. I always fucking loathe that shit, especially when it's an isekai in a standard european fantasy world that would think their food is absolutely disgusting until people got used to the weird flavors.
this was my first anime on the WB saturday mornings.
Escaflowne was among the first anime I watched on TV that were not strictly for a kiddie audience.
It aired back to back with Cowboy Bebop on german MTV of all places and for some reason had a completely new horrible opening song (video related)
What the fuck? At least with shit like Pokemon and Yugioh when the completely changed the opening song, they created something that was catchy and iconic. This just paid five bucks to the nearest band that had a song that wasn't offensive.
Escaflowne can't be recomended enough or maybe it's just my nostalgia talking
No, it really is a good series (I'm >>52914). As I mentioned, the only real downside is that the plot gets pretty rushed towards the end of the series, with reveals like Dilandau actually being Allen's sister feeling like they just come out of nowhere.
Fun fact: while never explicitly stated in the series, the mangaka confirmed that the Emperor is actually Sir Isaac Newton, meaning he's the isekai protagonist of his own story.
>while never explicitly stated in the series, the mangaka confirmed that the Emperor is actually
Could you really not fucking figure that out on your own and had to have it explicitly stated by the author?
No need to have a stick up your ass, anon. Not everyone has 10/10 observation skills like yourself.
stumbled upon an isekai called Handyman Saitou In Another World that might be decent considering the premise, though there is only one chapter so far and everything else the author made before was meh
As the title suggests it's about a handyman ending in a fantasy world (no indication of rpg or mmo mechanics yet) somehow. He hasn't gained any magical powers (yet?) and his party members aren't kissing his ass, though they really appreciate his work since he can open locked doors and chests aswell as repair their armor. But he needs their help as well.
No idea where it'll be going from there and when the inevitable disappointment will set in.
pics related: the entire first chapter without the coverpage
Sounds potentially fun, but likely terrible. I'd be much more interested if he was just living normally in a town, rather than being stuck with an adventuring party.
>gobbed
friendly reminder to attack chests before attempting to open them
looks kind of nice though, would be a shame if someone were to insert rpg mechanics, skill names, and a harem
I'll read it.
Knight reminds me of Samus for some reason.
This was horrible tbh. I've never read something with such an uninteresting, unlikable character. The story has potential but it's never exploited, in fact the author does everything in his power to contradict himself and his characters. It pretty much goes:
>haha i'm gonna be a neet because i hate work
<except i work my ass off to achieve it
>haha i know i'll scam people because i'm a scumbag
<except i help everyone i come across
>oh no i'm billions in debt!
<except for my underground empire that should technically generate infinite resources
>oh no it's a dangerous situation
<let me just use the deus ex machina n.42 that is so conveniently placed here, again
>whaaa look at all this fanservice, are you hard yet?!
Such a shame. For a manga that revolves around money we weren't even given an estimate of how much money is worth, just random numbers of income/debt. I guess it's the same as the yen? Fucking japs. Also no worldbuilding at all, a plethora of races thrown in your face and you're supposed to go 'oh, alright', and accept them as is. When they introduce something it's situational at best and quickly forgotten and anything fantasy related ends up being just a plot device thrown in your face to make the story progress. The MC has no relatable situation or anything that makes you sympathize with him, and you're left watching this fucking idiot go through all these >"WhAcKy SituATioNs haha" but you wish he would get shot in the head instead. And there's this satire of japan's salarymen with some shots at unions, just how shitty is the situation over there that you have to create a shitty manga with such angst towards it? I mean how you even fuck up a manga so hard you make the other 90 billion isekais with an overpowered MC look better in comparison? A shame really.

Is there more reverse Isekai manga/LNs? Currently reading Slave Harem (WN) but im almost catching up to it. And yes I already read Spider (WN) while waiting for the Slime (WN) TLs to finish
reverse Isekai manga that I read:
Isekai Shokudou - fantasy folks come to our world to eat
Kumika no Mikaku - aliens come to our world to eat and work
Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon and its spinoffs - Dragons come to our world for lesbianism and work
Starting Gate!: Uma Musume Pretty Derby - racehorses get reborn into our world for more racing, but as horsegirls
Vacation Maou and Her Pet (pics related) - Demon King (female) comes to our world for vacation and buys herself a schoolgirl as a pet (schoolgirls mom is a-okay with that btw)
>racehorses get reborn into our world for more racing, but as horsegirls
But anon, I thought that was racehorses from our world getting reborn in another world, therefore making it an isekai.

The GATE LNs have been completely translated into English already, no idea what you're talking about.
The sequel, which features some navy shit, isn't, but the original is all the way done.
Nevermind, I'm a dumbass. It's the webnovel which has been completely translated into English.
Not sure why you'd wait for the LN over it in this case, though, as the webnovel was already good enough.

The others being Ride-on King, Handyman Saitou and Kainushi Juujin to Petto Joshikousei
in this weeks episode:
Princess Knight falls in love with a knife, enjoys pasta and gets reported to the ministry of immigration
That nerd would be fine if he and his supposed gf just fucked off to do their own thing/save the world/whatever and we get update on their adventures from time to time. But noooo, gotta have your generic as fuck male isekai chara right in the middle of a story about a bunch of dumbass gyarus. and then marry him to one of them gyaru when you got the axe. Really? Wasn't he in love with his gf-to-be AND scared/annoyed by the very same gyaru?
what if it's a really nice knife
>what did it do?
I don't know what he's referring to specifically, but, If I had to guess, he's most likely referring to the fact that MC went from being this person viewed by everyone as being useless and someone who raped the princess (because of said Princesses false accusations), to your generic "everyone loves him and he's super strong and will save the day" piece of shit.
Granted, the princess should have gotten the comeupons at some point but it should have been close if not immediate before the final boss or maybe even immediately after. Now that the author's shot his load on the only thing that made his isekai remotely interesting it's completely generic now.
To be fair though, they seem to be implying in the latest chapter that the enemy force also have isekai'd heroes so maybe that will redeem it somehow as the idea of isekai protag vs isekai antag sounds at least moderately interesting.
>It's fun, but completely shoots itself in the foot by introduced the nerd from highschool as a normal isekai MC almost immediately which ruins it.
I wouldn't say it completely ruins it, I felt he would have been a nice foil for the gyarus if he showed up less often. A kind of straight man for them. Maybe once every ten chapters or maybe an arc? But because he shows up almost half the time it drags down the entire plot into a generic bore.
Speaking of people who like isekai and how pathetic they are. Has anyone been even glancing at Potion danomi de Ikinobimasu! ? The translator is having an autistic meltdown because people think the writing and his waifu are shit. He's been specifically adding paragraph upon paragraph from the WN to justify the garbage it is. He specifically posted images of mangadex comments to his blog to talk about how stupid they are for not understanding his garbage translation.
For all intents and purposes Dr. Stone might as well be that. Hell, it would even be closer to Yankee in King Arthur's Court since it wasn't another world but time travel in the case of Dr. Stone it went forward though
the concept was interesting enough, but them boichi faces on the kids weirded me the fuck out
Does a character going into a computer world (e.g., Tron) count as Isekai?
sure, that used to be one of the more popular types of isekai back in the days of Monster Rancher or Digimon
Shaping up to be a reverse harem unfortunately. Bet they'll introduce something electronic next. This was way better as a simple romance between her and Eggplant-kun.
eggplants and other perishables are for one-night-stands at best, but a good knife stays with you forever if you maintain the relationship
>Unparalleled Path ~ Reincarnated as the AI for a Space Battleship ~
Techincally an isekai but set in MC far future
(He's a Highschooler)
MC awakens as a AI for a battleship cruiser for an imperial space fleet the Ajax. The main plot right now is escaping Alliance space after being isolated during an imperial invasion to take over/destroy a major shipyard deep within the Alliance territory.
The ship by the way is an Ancient design so it's implied that the AI was he MC at the beginning but during the battle after suffering internal damage the AI rebooted into the MC with it's normal AI counterpart for calculations
The reason why he's a lot better than other than the other AI is that he's capable of breaking AI template protocol and can react a lot faster(His AI is also an ancient design, I predict he was like a test subject for AI's during his time)
>The Lost Fleet series
A Novel series set in the future, the MC takes command of a fleet that was defeated during an invasion to syndics space, after warping into a hypernet gate coordinates supplied by a double spy from syndics they get isolated almost being wiped out and now face further annihilation.
The MC this time is actually a minor military commander that was believed to have died during one of his fleets sorties, he is celebrated as a war hero for his country for propaganda, 100 years later his cryo pod is found by his countries invasion force.
The difference now his most of the commanders and officers of this fleet are young and inexperience, the war has taken many of its older admirals and ships, most of the fleet he commands doesn't even salute anymore so he has to retrain them from scratch while fleeing from any forces.
Both of these have really similar plots and characters but I think it's worth the read, Battleship AI is under translated so that sucks
sorry for having a stroke typing this
Adult or male significant characters are everywhere in Overlord, and spoken and written language aren't japanese.
fashion!
I want a manga where a guy gets reborn as the OP protagonist of a generic fantasy RP harem story but was a devout Christian in his past life, and instead of defeating the Demon King or Evil Church or whatever, he just goes around spreading the word of Jesus Christ.
Illegal immigration!
>Said christian then molds Jesus's story / iconography to somewhat fit into local culture while keeping all of His parable's and messages intact
If anything, it would make a great semi-educational series as to how conversion of a new flock in a newfound land happens.
Thank you. I'll add that to my list of revenge Isekai/general fantasy that I read out of spite.
I really love to hate the MCs in these edgy powerwank stories. Not because they do evil things but because the authors always try (and fail) to make it look as if their shitty personality is justified.
Dungeon Seeker
MC and his classmates get isekai'd. They betray him and he is out for ''revengeance''. I doesn't really deserve to be on this list as the MC isn't an unlikeable fuck but the over the top edgyness is still the main appeal of the manga. The author even calls himself "Sakamoto666" so you know that you'll get an edgyness feast.
Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaosh
Not an isekai. It feels like the author read Shield Hero and thought "How can I write this worse and with more edgy revenge?" The MC is a hero with healing abilities and therefore seen as useless trash by the rest of the group, who drug him, rape him, beat him up and use him as plaything. After defeating the Demon King he get's the power to start over in order to live out his revenge. The author makes sure to portray every side character in the entire kingdom as complete scum so the revenge is fully deserved, even if time was turned back. Also, he gets a beastgirl slave as companion.
~~Since the MC can only can use heal, he actually has to come up with some pretty clever ways to use as offensive and defensive abilities in combat~~ nah actually the author just has him use any sort of spell and excuses it by naming them [Random spell effect] (Heal).
Nidome no Yuusha
An Isekai. It feels like the author read Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaosh and thought "How can I write this worse and with more edgy revenge?" The MC is a hero from our world and therefore seen as useless trash by the rest of the group, who murder him. After defeating the Demon King he gets killed and than gets the power to start over in order to live out his revenge. The author makes sure to portray every side character in the entire kingdom as complete scum so the revenge is fully deserved, even if time was turned back. Also, he get's a beastgirl slave as companion.
Also, he is just super powerful and has every kind of magic item.
Maou no Hajimekata
Again not an isekai. The MC was betrayed and thus he dedicated his entire live to become an all powerfull mage in order to enact his revenge. Of course this all happens off screen and the story starts with him being a mighty lich and Maou. It could be interesting if it spend more time focusing on the dungeonbuilding but it mainly skips that in favor of smut and wanking about how awesome and angsty the MC is.
The one chapter in which he turns some wizard girl into his slave through some shadow game always stuck with me as an example of bad writing. The author tries to make it look like some exciting battle of wits and gamble for their souls but all he could think of was a game in which they have to guess what part of their body the opponent is thinking of.
Re:Monster
That ones pretty well known but I just have to mention it. The overpowered asshole MC that "dindun nuffin" isn't even the worst part. It also fails at the very basics of being an isekai. The MC isn't from our world but from some other fantasy setting in which monsters and vidya mechanics already exist. It's like having a character from God Eater trasported to some fantasy world. What's the point?
As for isekai in general, I think that the main problem of the genre is how the focus got shifted.
With most modern isekai the MC is often a pure powerfantasy that know everything about the setting and it's mechanics because "muh vidya". With Escaflowne, Rayearth or even Monster Rancher or Digimon the "normal person get's trasported to a fantasy setting"-plot was used to introduce the viewer to a strange, magical world. That way the audience can relate to the MC and it also avoids the problem of having the characters talk about stuff that should be common knowledge to them. Mahou Yome kinda uses the same formula if you want a more recent non-isekai series like that.
she'd marry even (You)

That really bothered me. The mangaka made an interesing manga setting about how he fighs other espers and cannibalizes his enemies in his original world, but then at the last minute decided to throw the character to an isekai setting which threw the previous setting out the window.
It's like if a character from The Slayers died and isekai into Dragon Half.
>It's like if a character from The Slayers died and isekai into Dragon Half.
It's way, way worse. A Slayers character in Dragon Half might lead to a pretty entertaining crossover. The Re:Monster MC isn't a character at all but a bland "your face here, customer-san" slate like most isekai, while he's also some sort of supersoldier from a sci-fi fantasy setting. The only thing this "adds" is that he has op skills and abilites from the start. It's not even clear if he knows about fantasy fiction or if stuff like goblins and orcs actually exist in his own world.
I was scared they'd start giving Saitou magical powers now, glad they went the way the did instead.
looks like Lady Knight finally convinced farmer dude
The books get really brutal. The last one is the apocalypse and every creature that's evil gets wiped out of existence forever by Aslan. But the third one does end in a glimpse of heaven. That's kind of neat. Plus dragons.
What's the name of this?
At the topic of Narnia, it reminds me alot of Deltora Quest for some reason. I think that one has an animated adaptation iirc
Really loving this one
in this weeks chapter Princess Knight:
finds herself a fangirl
contemplates homicide
learns about human reproductive activities
tfw no demongirl girlfriend from another world to feed
I always wondered how different is the human, dwarf and elf cooking
Did it ever got explored in the lord of the rings?
a lot of the time, elves are vegan or at least vegetarian. In isekai shokudou it goes to the point that Aletta the waitress asks the cook if he can cook a meal without food for the elf guest.
What does "incidentally⦠but anyway" refer to?
Kanata Kara
This got killed off, by the way.
they pretty much deserved it
Shut your whore mouth
I kinda agree with him. The concept was funny. It would have been great, had it just focused on the gals doing gal things. But then it had to add a generic isekai MC who got way too much screentime and, judging by the last chapter, he'd have gotten even more.
Then again, it was still way better than most other recent isekai.
in this weeks chapter:
you can always rely on curry and isekai people are walking biohazards waiting to happen

Yeah, the addition of generic Isekai MC was so bad, I'm willing to bet that's exactly why it got canned.
Possibly. I'd say even with him it was better than many other isekai but I certainly lost any enthusiasm I had before.
muh rules
>it'll just keep getting worse and worse and harder to tell him about
what we learned in this weeks Handyman Saitou chapter:
Mevena appearantly didn't appreciate Raelza getting in the way of her alone time with Saitou.
Saitou also has a convenient chef's license on top of his abundance of other useful skills.
Hunting delicious creatures to extinction is a grim reality even in isekai
>Raelza has a fear of long slimy creatures
This guy looks like he's from some american animated movie. There's just something about his face and hair that reminds me of the male characters from disney or dreamworks.
>its a reverse isekai
>more girls appear near MC farm
>they all start working for him
I'm okay with this. Except that there will be an inevitable best girl that comes later and gets shafted because she came later.
In this weeks chapter:
Government girl doesn't do the dishes
Farmer-kun wears female underwear
Princess Knight powers up
Europe gets even more immigrants?
If there's any TLer out there (or lurking in this very board) can you TL the Light Novel of pic related, manga is a pretty good read, the problem is the LN currently has 12 Volumes that are not TLed to English, and the idiots who did only TLed the introductions (((as a teaser))), fuck those niggers who think they're so damn smart with their (((TL marketing))) bullshit, and hopefully the TL group that's gonna pick it up better not be (((politically sensitive))) in any way, because from what I've read on the manga, if true, there are some (((politically unsafe words))) within the LN itself
<inb4 hurr durr just learn the language newfag nobody cares fuck off t.cuckchan nigger :^)
>manga is a good read
You mean where it's an isekai, relying on other world knowledge, but only when it's convenient for the plot?
It's one of a handful of series that I actually found enjoyable to read (as far as the manga goes), no edgy/tragic shit (so far so good), even side fillers are at a minimum, but sadly the manga is currently only at Chapter 40 while the Light Novel version has 12 Volumes currently released, and unTLed in English
>Vampire girl distances herself from Shiro
>talks to the pope more frequently
I'm a little concerned tbh, especially now that shit's starting to spill over in the latest chapter
>and by chapter I meant the WN
The only thing I don't like about this manga is the art. Specifically their faces. It's like the author can only draw a handful of expressions, and half of them are awkward smiles
>literally nothing happens, the chapter
it's still on mangolife
yeah, mangulife is my second place to look for illegal japanese comics.
not sure what to think of MC Mainguy anymore.
after this cutesy chapter, there seem to be dark clouds on the horizon for princess knight and farmer-dude
>The Lost Fleet series
I tried to enjoy this, but it's really fucking bad. The author keeps harping about how a compromised democracy is better than a military dictatorship lead by a good person because it violates their (((principles))). The first book was enjoyable enough, but then it started banging the boomer-tier politics drum and caved in head intrigue where the main character purposely goes out of his way to let commanders endanger the fleet out of self righteousness and then has his ass saved by deus ex machina events, which results in the entire fleet worshiping the ground he treads on, followed immediately after by more blatant insubordination and sabotage that just can't be tracked down supposedly in a fleet that believes he's the second coming of christ.
I can certainly see why it would be a New York Times bestseller.
>The author keeps harping about how a compromised democracy is better than a military dictatorship lead by a good person because it violates their (((principles))).
Isn't that basically LoGH?
1st ep out, preaired
surprised first ep gets 45minutes, how often does that happen?
don't know about this series, there seems to be hype and (((controversy))), but i'd read all the manga before i knew it
there's a few good scenes, but it all kinda feels out of place
>man I sure wish I could enter my jrpgs
>it would be so cool to be a shy MC around strong girls
At least wish fulfillment fantasies had a point. What's the rationale behind living a fantasy where you don't actually surpass your limits? Kids used to dream of being heroes. Now they dream of being losers in another world.
People don't dream of becoming heroes because that would require hard work, instead they want to be given powers that makes them heroes. It's the same with romance, they don't want to meet people in realistic ways and build a relationship with them, they want a harem of beauties and sword maidens and elves to coincidentally fall into their lap.
Being a loser in another world beats being a loser in this one, as long as the world is marginally less shit, which shouldn't be too hard.
If you liked the movies and wouldn't mind reading a book that's mostly intended for kids to make religious concepts more interesting to them I'd say go for it. IIRC the first movie wasn't a bad adaptation but that was the only one I saw and I heard they went down hill before I got around to checking the others out.
There's also release and chronological order to read them. Which I was thinking of re-reading them but in chronological order this time to be quite honest.
I read them in chronological order back in the day, and while I have yet to go back and reread in release order (not like that would take long, I just have other things to read), I think it works fine chronologically. Five out of the seven books are already in order both ways, and of the other two, one is the origin of Narnia and the other is just a side story. While the origin might make a little less sense and be a little less rewarding without context, it's not like it's so complicated that you can't figure it out and enjoy it as a standalone children's fantasy novel before diving into the rest of the series.
Apparently Netflix now has the production rights for Narnia, so we'll see in what order they decide to adapt it.
and then princess knight was hauled off to a laboratory and never seen again.
thanks, bitch
found a new clusterfuck kind of isekai turning into reverse-isekai
Welcome to Japan, Miss Elf
It's about a guy who can dream himself into a fantasy world since he was a child. But tha fantasy dream world is also a videogame for unspecified reasons.
He also gets to bring stuff like lunchboxes (fantasy world food sucks trope) from his world into the dream world, which gets him an elf waifu, which he brings with him to Japan when he woke up after a dragon killed them both in the videogame-dream.
The isekai parts were cringe, but the reverse-isekai might have potential.
No french fries for the elf so far though
>Hear nothing but good things about konosuba for ages
>Finally watch it
>ecchi harem comdey with a "twist" #4027
Eh. It has a few good bits here and there. Explosions are fun. I've noticed that based on the animation no one in this world wears a bra, but in the manga Kazuma steals a bra with his skill.
>ecchi harem comdey with a "twist"
People like it because it doesn't take itself seriously and was the first to do so.
>and was the first to do so.
Maybe I don't watch enough, but comedy centered shows tend not to take themselves seriously.
It's more like it's an ecchi harem comedy and the twist is that it's an isekai.
>dissing on Kono Sekai ga Game da to Ore dake ga Shitteiru
Are you fucking kidding me here nigger? The whole point of the fucking thing is that he got transported into a game so shit it won 2ch's yearly kusoge award. A game so shit it makes Bethedsa's games look like shining bars of gold. Honestly I've never seen such a well made Videogame based isekai, both in the superior WN plus LN and even in the butchered manga adaptation. The MC literally does nothing but exploit the game's mechanics plus bugs to stay alive.
Moreover the game is so badly programmed and the dev's so ill intentioned towards the userbase even when he gains an upperhand he's constantly on edge and careful about not triggering deathflags, bugs, or glitches that could one hit kill him. My only complaint is the fucking translation speed for any of the releases as a whole. Fucking RE:ZERO got monthly translations but this shining diamond in the rough didn't. Almost makes me as frustrated and sad as the hiatus Log Horizon had due to the Author's tax evasion fucker which was TOTALLY not inspired by /biz/.
No, most comedy shows have some hamfisted moral lesson shoved in there about youth, growing old, being a NEET/Hiki etc. etc. Shows like Nichijou, PopTeamEpic, or slightly serious but still comedic Konosuba and ShinChan where the characters are garbage but hilarious, so on and so forth are actually pretty damn rare. With that said I don't blame you for getting bored while watching Konosuba, it's on purpose a derivative parody of pervy anime, plus video game tropes.
But that's why people love it so much in the first place. Now granted the anime adaptation so far has only adapted the first couple of volumes of the novel. Apparently later on it gets even more serious with Megumin and big titted blondied both confessing their feelings to Kazuma, which results in melodrama plus hilarity.
You can find the raws up to volume 5 on pantsu (there's 6 volumes out and we're about 25% on the translation of the 3rd one). It's a fairly easy read with not too much Kanji and plenty of furigana. It's what I'm doing right now. Ganbatte, anon.
>Digimon Adventure
>as the hiatus Log Horizon had due to the Author's tax evasion fucker
fuck, really? LH is one of my favorite "its a videogame!" isekai.
http://archive.is/kJ0kh
Looks like the faggots of OtakuCloud that translated a few chapters of Isekai Meikyuu de Harem o that were banned on mangadex, because their advertising, just dropped all the mangos and an hero.
That would end up with me fucking using english to japanese dictionaries almost constantly with the ocassional google translate every minute to read. That sounds VERY FUCKING PAINFUL to me
Did they ever manage to get back?
>start reading Isekai Nonbiri Nouka becuase the MC actually impragenates his qt girls
>he starts building shit likes its nothing
any isekais were the writer actually read a survival manual?
Fushigi Yugi is a thing. I first discovered it in 5th grade when my mom said "Hey I found Yugioh on the TV guide."
>Two high school girls get sucked into a book loosely based on ancient china
>one gets raped and the other gets a couple hot guys fawning over her
>There's some battles over something and some sexy shenanigans I can't remember, it's been like 15 years.
So that's how I learned what rape is.
finished el-hazard on tuesday
it was refreshing having an isekai with no shitty rpg gimmicks. the ending felt kind of wish fulfillment-y but overall the show was enjoyable.
I wish there was an isekai about an orc going to a japanese highschool. Or about the monster children of isekai heroines bred by monsters.
How did it end after cancelled? the same question for Gyaru Twitter Isekai.
Is this Pet Shop Wrestler Isekai?
They needed someone for the bitches to bully because it wouldn't be a full Gyaru manga if bitches didn't make a guy's life myserable.
>But tha fantasy dream world is also a videogame for unspecified reasons.
Fuck's sake.
But I'm interested nonetheless, I just want an elf waifu to rape with love.
>look up Fushigi Yuugi
>find http://archive.is/tnvdg
>Over eighteen volumes, rape is attempted around ten times by various perpetrators. That means that if there was an attempted rape in every volume, there would be one in over half the volumes of the series.
>In almost every one of those attempts, Miaka is the intended victim.
>Itβs so bad that one Fushigi Yugi fan trivia http://archive.is/vJMPU poses the question, βWho DOESNβT try to rape Miaka?β
>mfw
Just finishing reading the last translated chapter of Isekai Nonbiri Nouka and I liking it so far, a side from the whole MC with a deus ex machina tool, the comic is pretty comfy.
Didn't realize this was getting an adaption.
It's time for the generic wish fulfillment power fantasy isekai of the season. MC gets reborn in another world, found and raised by master wizard Merlin who forgot to teach him anything besides magic, for instance common sense. He then learns and invents magic and blows everyone else out of the water and keeps breaking new ground with magics that he invents with knowledge based on his original world.
What's with nips obsession over knifeeared shits?
They understand that elves are the peak of beauty.
You mean they're just cocksleeves who'd settle for any kind of dick, even nip microdick.
>LotGH
in the end, Reinhard's empire was converted to a democracy because when the emperor dies so does the empire.
we get that isekai crossover thing this season with Overlord x Re:Zero x Tanya x Konosuba
>get isekai'd in an isekai
>sent back to boring universe
makes sense even if it is a letdown.
>when the emperor dies so does the empire.
Not at all. It's made the monarchy a constitutional and not-necessarily hereditary one which was admittedly a semi-cucked stance from a Darwinian perspective when we all know that Rudolph did nothing wrong.
>isekai about MC impregnating caninegirls is slowly updating
>go read isekai Seinen mangos
>Isekai Omotenashi Gohan
>two sisters and their house end up in another world
>imouto is the chosen one
>oneesan got nothing else to do than to sit all day
>imouto hates gaijin food
>cant save the world with that shit
>prefers superior nihongo food
>mango is about oneesan cooking with the help of her knight each day for her imouto
>and drinking
>lots of drinking
pretty comfy
In the end LotGH just tells you to team up to remove the (((Earth Cult))) and keep your shitty ruling system to yourself.
it's so good, thanks for posting it
the twist is that the girls are shitty enough for it to be a believable harem
Kuro no Maou
>Isekai No. 283892

>he acquires a TICC fairy and meets new people
>also no "ITS LIKE A VIDEOGAME" shit
Dont worry about chapter 5, it doesnt go full "Shield Hero Syndrome
>Isekai made for Jose
>I Was On My Way To Eat Some Tacos But Got Ran Over By A Toro And Now I'm Being Chased Around By The Border Patrol of a Fantasy World?!
Imagine an Isekai where a suicidal MC is actually hunted down as an illegal immigrant to be throw back into his own world.
>Isekai made for Jose
>I'm a coyote that crosses illegals, but all them get transported to another world instead
In /tg/ we call it a minecraft isekai. And it's pretty confy indeed.
>I got Isekaid into another world and the only cheat power I got were these survival manuals!
I wish there was an isekai where each chapter is some guy appearing, findinf he has no cheat powers, then gets killed because he has no useful skills like almost everyone nowadays.
For examples
>Chapter one: Guy appears, trips, sprains his ankle, then a group of wolves gang up on him, kill him, and eat him.
>Chapter two: Different guy appears, finds a river, drinks from it, then dies from disease because something upstream died or took a nasty shit in the water.
>Chapter three: Another guy appears and finds a village. The villagers cannot understand him and are frightened. They then beat the guy to death with farming tools.
In short "Fuck you. You die." the isekai manga.
Oh, thought of another chapter.
Guy gets isekai'd, manages to survive, learns the language, dresses like locals, and acts like them to reduce suspicion.
Then one night after having some drinks at a local tavern before heading home, he gets shanked by a mugger, robbed, and then dies in a ditch.
>I went to another world, but my high school/college knowledge is useless!
I wish there was an isekai where the MC just adapts to his new life, learns the language and culture of a small village he washed up in, and just lives the rest of his life there in relative peace.
Orenchi ni Kita Onna Kishi to Inakagurashi Suru koto ni natta Ken
>actually slaves himself out for (((his boss))) profits instead of draining the system dry
Get a load of this goy.
>Cute female knight is Isekai'd into modern day
>reading some loli/shota comics
>thinking about the isekai hell that riceland are right now
>suddenly want a comic about a shota or loli getting in another world
>and doing their best to get back to their parents
The Small Sage Will Try Her Best In the Different World from Lv. 1!
>fuck yeah!
>read it
>its an VRMMO were the avatar looks like a loli, but the FeMC is 19 years old
JUST!
Anyone got recommendations of shota or lolis that are actually shota/lolis in an isekai?
Is there an isekai where an MC gets run over by a truck and sent to hell but he thinks its just an isekai
Jimmy Two Shoes
A Boy Who Has Been Reincarnated Twice Spends Peacefully as an S-Rank Adventurer
Dude who was an OP hero mage gets reincarnated where he becomes an OP hero warrior and gets reincarnated again.
This time, he wants to lead a peaceful quiet life, so of course he decides to become an adventurer, cheatskills himself an op sword with op magic buffs from his previous lives, one shots a dragon right in front of some random princess' guards, sucks the entire corpse into a magic bag then fucking flies away.
I'm sure this won't become a wish fulfillment haremcreep at all, no sirree.
I was reading that one, I was expecting him to start from zero and use his experience of his other 2 previous lives to not get killed and avoid the hero route, but no, he gets OP in a few pages and from ALL the jobs available, he picks adventurer, because that one will give you a peaceful quiet life
>he gets OP in a few pages and from ALL the jobs available, he picks adventurer
You people give shit like this the time of day?
>You people give shit like this the time of day?
Sometimes i find stuff that i like because the story is entertaining Dad Is a Hero, Mom Is a Spirit, I'm a Reincarnator or a guilty pleasure Butsuri-san de Musou shitetara Motemote ni Narimashita
You will never know what you will find until you read a few chapters.
Hm.. silly idea, but what would you think about an isekai where characters from medieval times get transported into far away lands from that time period?
>I'm a spanish inquisitor and got transported into this land with heatens with only my inquisitorial torture tools!
what is this unwanted male doing in between these objects of desire
I remember a cartoon about a samurai exploring the wild wild west with his gunslinger companion, it was made by the same guy from Galaxy Express 999, same design and characters but in different roles.
That is the only thing I remember about different warriors from another kingdom ending up in different parts of the planet
>A Spanish inquisitor got transported into a land of heathens to get culturally enriched!
I have an idea for a fun isekai.
Guy appears in fantasy world and the only thing he wants to do is get boozed up and enjoy good food. He meets up with a few others (dwarf, elf, and orc since it'll be fantasy) and they all form a review club. The four of them then go bar crawling, stuff themselves, and make reviews of the places.
>Yo dawg, I heard you like Isekai, so we put Isekai in your Isekai
We've officially gone too far.
Gonna need a lot of trucks for that
>start reading Exterminator
>an exterminator got isekaed
>fuck yeah, time to learn about pest, pest control and house cleaning!
>magic or fighting with a sword?
>fuck that shit, im here to exterminate and clean houses for a living!
>nice art
>hard working MC
>asked the foxgirl in a date
<VIDEOGAMES
<after exterminating rats and throwing the poisonous corpses to the forest and accidentally poisoning other monsters he level up until he was OP
<in the next extermination target he just exploded a giant wasp hive with magic
<he later exterminated ghost but you only the end result
<gekkogirl wants his semen, goes full faggot
<doesnt even lewd the foxgirl
what a fucking shame, the writer ruined the whole idea in the first chapter OPing the MC and later on not giving much though on the extermination process.
Same I was pretty disappointed by this, it started so enjoyably but now its just gone off the rails. I keep up with it hoping it will turn around.
>starts acquiring harem and doing OP fantasy MC things instead of exterminating
>tits just launching themselves at his dick but keeps repelling them because who the fuck knows
>author throws some token exterminator stuff in because oh shit right my whole premise
At least pussy onslaught seems to finally be wearing down his resistance dragon brothel soon
I think the problem with all these isekais is when the characters form a party, it becomes about the party and deviates from the original hook.
Or at least it would be more interesting if he paired with other exterminator-minded people. An assassin's guild trying to recruit him would be fun too.
>who the fuck knows
Its because he wants to know them better end of chapter 2 and refuses geckogirl, so i was expecting some built up with the romance with foxgirl or elfgirl, but no, he just leaves town and bikinigirl now wants his semen and joined him, because she lost a fight against him, so i just dropped it.
>Or at least it would be more interesting if he paired with other exterminator-minded people
yeah, i was expecting he would form a team dedicated on exterminating pests because nobody wanted to do it, going to different places doing pest control and cleaning houses, but no, he turned into the strongest pussy magnet that could exterminate 6 million goblins
Tanaka no Isekai Nariagari
Once again jap gets accidentally isekai'd as a bystander in a summoning ritual ceremony for the hero. Except this time the jap is a 32 year old chuuni manchild who is unknowingly OP but also incredibly innocent and stupid. So stupid in fact that when they ask him to read off his stats he tells them 1 and 2 because he can't read scientific notation, so they kick him out of the country to avoid embarassment.
Happy sperging as an adventurer he saves up for some beginner magic spells but because he has literal retard strength magic, spells for campfires create infernos and drinking water spells make tidal waves. Instead of realizing he is OP he blames the results on poor control and being a shit wizard and resolves to get better.
His autism spaghetti prevents him from joining groups but it's ok though.
He saves a skeleton from an angel and makes it a party member, then gives it a hood, scythe and pointy canines because he is chuuni as fuck. He also dresses like Elvis. He's a pretty fun guy.
Usually supremely OP MC are the worst kind of lame and boring but I like the way this is going, would recommend. Only 4 chapters so far though.
As usual, humor prevents isekai from being shit even if it has OP main character and the like.
theres one that i read but cant remeber where a group of fantasy characters review fantasy women,
Yankee wa Isekai de Seirei ni Aisaremasu
>yankee saves a shota from truck-kun
>gets isekaed to a fantasy world
>as a gift from G-d, he will be loved by cute little spirits
>doesnt take shit from anyway
>swords, bows or shields?
>fuck that shit give me an iron pipe
>no videogames
>mfw
this is too good to be true, i bet its going to get axed.
Man, do these authors set out to ruin interesting premises with a harem detour or do their publishers force them to since that's what the target demo wants the most? It's fun when he's a delinquent to random people but they just have to cram that in there, huh.
>hero mc isekai
<your party casters, healers, shopgirls, your imouto, princesses, and probably the demon lord all want your dick
>antihero mc isekai
<see above but add the hero girl too
>npc/job mc isekai
<there I did interesting profession shit for two chapters, now to build a harem instead
>revenge mc isekai
<man i'm so edgy with my revenge huh where did this wolfgirl, dark elf and sexy ghost come from
>mc is the demon lord
<actually porn
I still prefer the other tanaka isekai
Sokushi Cheat ga Saikyou Sugite, Isekai no Yatsura ga Marude Aite ni Naranai n desu ga
an isekai satire comic, pretty good shit.
It's not satire if it plays exactly like an isekai after a while. It's just konosuba again where it's funny at the start but it stops being funny and plays out like a lategame isekai.
Kuro no Shoukanshi
>VIDEOGAMES

>turns out he is pretty dense about love
its shi...
>elf slave cured his density
its not so bad, art is nice, story is what you would expect and he has night activities
Help, I cant stop reading this shit.
Anyone know any stories with less than lawful good reactions to being in an isekai, like the heroes going berserk and murdering everyone in a kingdom because they said they couldn't send them back? Or even just crippling grief at having your old life and loved ones torn away?
Never watched MAR but the praise in the thread has made me start to download it. I'm guessing I won't find anything better than 480p?
Also I'm not exactly a man of refined taste and do actually enjoy the overpowered MC trope in isekai's, going to read through the thread a bit more but any suggestions based on my uncultured taste which some anons might not hold up as a 'good' isekai due to its clichΓ© nature and hence not mention?
I only remember 3 isekais were the MC do have family or potential gf left behind and only ONE of those the MC actually asks about his imuoto, but its not the focus of the story.
>male foot in the highlight
I always knew footfags didn't care about the gender of the foot.
And then you go and rape them and they report you to the police, I don't get it.
99% of the isekai I've encountered start off with
>dude was randomly summoned
or
>dude is killed and reincarnated
I want more isekai to feature a si-fi setting akin to star-trek where the protag has to survive on an undeveloped planet (think starocean). You remove the stupid summoning/death transport story mechanics and you have no reason to have the shitty RPG mechanisms that seem to plague all other isekai stories for some reason.
One of the major reasons why isekai are fantasy settings is for the MC to be a big fish in a small pond. Being in a scifi setting makes this harder to do, not impossible just harder, you'd probably have to do some post apocalyptic shit to do that. RPG mechanics are there because the author doesn't know how to show don't tell, that being said if the author should use game mechanics they should use table top rpg mechanics not jrpg ones and not explicitly throw the numbers infront of you.
You misread me I think. The Si-Fi is the starting area for the narrative. You establish they're part of a space-faring society and you drop them into a fantasy/medieval setting. It doesn't have to be an older age either, you could have them be stranded on a planet during an industrial age or even on a planet with tech comparable to ours in our current year.
You go with the whole "underdeveloped planet treaty" kinda business where the MC knows they can't reveal what they actually are so they can't be seen using what would effectively be "cheat skills" via their tricorders or whatever fill in the blank wonder tech that would help them survive on an underdeveloped planet.
I was explaining why isekai are written that way, not shooting down your idea. Anyway 'Combatants Will Be Dispatched!' seems the closest to what you're describing right now and it's by the guy who did konosuba. It's still funny like konosuba, but there's grating cheat shit which gets from using misdeed points since he's from a villain organization.
Update on KSGOS, the manga has turned into completely irredeemable garbage that completely diverges from the source material.
>Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?
>finished reading the latest chapter in the WN
>still couldn't find the translated LN volumes
Anyone have a link for the Light Novel version, specifically the translated Volumes?
>You establish they're part of a space-faring society and you drop them into a fantasy/medieval setting.
>mfw no mango about a ship crew that crashes into a magic/fantasy world and they have to deal with it
Why do so many Isekai start out by making the protag OP as fuck? Don't they realise it sucks most of the fun away? I want to see the protag actually struggle and grow rather than the whole plot being
>This pathetic fucking NEET with god-like powers is building a super hot harem right now, and basically, you are fucking stupid
Konosuba did it right, but then again, Konosuba is meant as a fucking parody on the genre
The boring ones play a straight "struggle and grow stronger" narrative so try watching more boring ones.
Go ahead and name them, then.
If the MC is OP and has a harem of girls it better have an interesting story and the MC has to have night activities with the girls and take responsibility.
Because isekai was a WN thing first, aka self-indulent fan fiction without the fan part. I think authors just wanted the harem shit without the build up because that shit was boring for them. Also I think they really like the 'goku being op' gags in dragonball too much.
>mfw new chapters got translated
now that I can get behind
you forgot about konosuba, the isekai with the most impotent characters since abbadon in w40k,literally only there to save his even more useless friends and look vaguely competent in a normal situation
kazuma deserves to hang from a scaffold
Is there any isekai horror?
Like protagonist living in a fantasy medieval world notices all these isekai'd "heroes" keep fucking things up and discovers they are an extradimensional existence playing their reality like a video game
honzuki no gekokujou is shaping up to be the best isekai since mushoku tensei
This one was alright
>Vandread
Holy fucking shit I read about that one in a magazine in 2005, forgot the name, and have been looking for it for 15 fucking years.
And I know the date because I remember the cover was commemorating Saint Seiya's 20 year anniversary.
I'm fucking downloading it right now.
Lookan for an isekai that I never completed watching.
It has 2(?) high school girls transported to a world where there are only little chibi people. It starts off with them in some kind of canyon before they are discovered by a chibi warrior in his little flying ship, who then proceeds to take them to a village where the two are thought of as heroes. I remember one of the girls being a bitch and the other rather air-headed, but it had a pretty /comfy/ tone. Fairly sure it was made in the 2006-2012 range.
Found it. Now hand me your firstborn.
