The spinning spiders were conspirators. The club was founded because the Union Club and a bunch of members were involved in some "spinning of lies" or illusion that had disgraced them. (Think it was the Union club) that club is the secret one. It is the oldest Club in SF and secretive and is mostly bloodlines.
