Can you provide link of citation to that as it could be rather significant if they had chosen that acronym and NOT just by some random physician.
I was thinking of the symbolic link between the use of the word "AID" in order to condition a population into become dependent on the STATE from cradle to grave. This would not only apply to a disease such as AIDS, but also in the use of the word US AID as part of a neoliberal agenda to destroy basic human subsistence behavior (providing ones own needs in terms of food shelter, and self determination) all around the world where AID is provided. The US AID is also often misused by installed governments to oppress the poor while themselves maintaining a modern Western Life style.
For example, think of how federal subsidies acquired by Clinton for rice farmers in Arkansas were used to grow rice for US AID efforts in Haiti. By flooding the local markets with free US grown rice, the Globalist neoliberals effectively destroyed the small local rice farming communities in Haiti that depended on their rice economy to maintain their cultural farming existence.
