That is a TERRIBLE hermeneutical translation of that verse, often misapplied by pastors today to urge people not to be fence-sitters.

The context in Laodicia was that on one side was a city with hot springs (medicinal) and the other with a cold spring (refreshing). By the time the water was piped via aqueducts to Laodicia, it was neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm.

Translation - Either be refreshing to the weary or medicine for the sick. If you are neither, you are useless as a church.

Father God,

You are a mighty God, capable of bringing all the evil of this world to destruction by the Word of Your mouth. Tonight, in humble submission to Your authority, we pray that You will guide and protect those who are protecting us. We ask that You put a hedge of protection around them, and when they encounter the enemy, let their aim be true. We also ask that You be with our President and those appointed around him, that You will give them the proper counsel to advise POTUS, that You will give him the wisdom and discernment to follow Your plan as he leads our brave warriors into battle, and that You will heal this nation of the evil that has taken it over. Purge the evil doers and give them no refuge from the storm that is raining down on them at this time.

We ask this in the power and authority of the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
