For: Really need to find passenger's comments/videos/tweets about their experience before story gets whitewashed with official version. If the train was going to fast, passengers in car 3 (first passenger car) would have been thrown to the right as the cars attempted to stay on the track. Or they will say it seemed like a slow accident. Most of passengers in cars that stayed up. Most of deaths/injuries probably in car 3. (1 engine 2 baggage freight 3 passenger car crushed near semi truck)
Against:Passenger trains are much lighter than freight trains that take miles to stop.
Good overhead picture shows (blue) engine had 100+ yards to slow from 80 to zero based on the "crumple zone" action of the preceding cars. Same for 5 trailing passenger cars before the pusher engine. Hence less injuries/fatalities.
Lead engine (on highway) took out several large trees and gouged the dirt before ending on highway as well. Connectivity between cars until accordion action would push trees and dirt gouge impacts through whole train's steel underskeleton. Passengers would report a series of hard jolts, each dropping the train 5 to 15mph - then the accordion action throwing things "around" the car. Series of slow speed impacts reducing train from 80 to zero in 100 yards.
That looks like an 80mph "passenger" train crash to me.
Both: Scars on track in picture of blue pusher engine indicate a quick jump (contact - straight off the rails), not a stress bend of the tracks like a train too fast.
I think engineer disabled/overridden to cause high speed in turn + possible hit something small (block of concrete) to complete the jump.
NO WAY seasoned engineer would fuck up the inaugural run. He'd practiced the run over and over. No fucking way. That's the story we won't hear….
This is still to me the biggest clue that GS is already at Camp David - before ATL.
