As the anon says, we don't know.

Because of the sheer amount of cash that day cost, and the unknown factor of what bad things could have happened as a result (i.e. civilians in terminal or stuck on planes on the runway having medical emergencies), it's hard to imagine the reasoning that would go into needing to bring someone in there.

Seems more likely someone was trying to get out and the entire place had to be shut down to nail the individual(s) and cohorts. Possible GS for sure.

Exactly. Like jet into Patuxent Naval Air Station and then helicopter to Camp David. Hell of a lot simpler than flying into ATL.
