It's worth pointing out that the Vatican element needs this thread as it has nothing to do with the spirituality and bible phrophesy being discussed in the Christianity thread.
And here's the thing: Jesuit Catholicism is the wacky, elite element within the Roman Catholic Church itself. Most Catholic priests come from other orders e.g. Franciscans, Dominicans and others. The Jesuits are extremely intelligent and learned; like the Oxford or Ivy League set amongst the priesthood. Selection to Jesuit seminary is a mark of distinction as a seminarian.
So consider that we now have the first Jesuit Pope in history… that, in and of itself, is a big deal in the context of the Vatican. Why were these elite scholars excluded from the papacy for millenia?
Now consider the way Pope Francis was installed: it was after the history-making resignation/removal of Benedict.
I recognize that it's nigh impossible for people who aren't Catholic to have any insight into this, nor any inclination to glean any. Nonetheless, the Vatican anle is very much worth vetting in the context of Q and /cbts/
