Not nefarious, but if EM is giving away Iridium modems and other similar tech for NK missile dev that is a major violation of ITAR.
Good Catch!
Or something that is missing or subtractedโฆ
Anon, just FYI on #3 the Tesla is being sent into space on the upcoming Falcon Heavy debut launch and had nothing to do with the Iridium launch last night.
There is currently a gap in the Iridium Next fleet over NK. This is probably what Q means by missing [i] = Iridium. They do not have the Iridium coverage for long-range guidance hence why most of their launches have been straight up rather than downrange.
The only thing Q confirmed was that [i] = Iridium, he never said the payload was missing.
Trying to confirm that right now, problem is no tracking data available yet, and these satellites tend to move a bit from the planes they are launched in. But, I think that would explain why they haven't demonstrated longer flights.
Looks like they were released over Eastern Africa, still would be pretty easy for them to maneuver to an orbital plane that would take them over NK.
Well guess we will have to wait for "future news" to find out. My take is he was saying Iridium coverage is missing. The deployment webcast didn't look like CGI to me.
This assumes that:
1) The satellite deployment webcast was faked
2) The new constellation will end up having fewer satellites than it's supposed to = reduced signal performance.
3) That they need SpaceX to send a clandestine payload into space. Why not disguise it as a heavy spy satellite and launch it on Atlas V or Delta IV
Maybe they need coverage at a certain time of day or did not have enough coverage until this flight?
