No missile goes straight up, it's inserting an object in space at 16,000 mph or something, that had multiple sats so they had to separate and launched in different directions once it's at speed, the satellites orbit the earth, they are not going to the moon, also if you are in the arc it's going to look straighter, Vandy is used for non polar launches, we would hit canada or mexico if we launched polar and there was an accident, only Russia launches over land, they don't care
