"Crumbs" are a theme from the story of "Hänsel und Gretel", a story by the German Brothers Grimm, known for their cruel fairy tales. The Crumbs in the story Hänsel uses to find a way back home after their parents lead them in the woods because they starve and cant take care for their own kids anymore. but the birds pick up all the crumbs and so hansel and gretel get lost and instead stumble upon the house of a witch, who in the end gets pushed into the oven.
