Distilled water is key. Graham Bell claimed it cured his sciatica, and Nikola Tesla hinted at its usefulness. It's also worth looking up urine therapy/shivambu.
A basic home distiller that makes you a gallon in a couple of hours is quite cheap ($200 or so), but you can easily distill water through DIY means. I'm not cognizant enough to describe it to you but there are plenty of guides online, not to mention books on the topic of distilled water.
