President Obama lent support to Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, who Rep. Michele Bachmann and four other members of Congress have suggested has ties to Muslim extremists, at a White House dinner in honor of the Islamic holiday of Ramadan tonight, per the pool report:
Obama praised his “good friend” Huma Abedin, who worked at the White House and is now an aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He described Abedin as an “American patriot,” and said she is an “example of what we need in this country. More public servants with her sense of decency, her grace, and her generosity of spirit.” The president thanked her for her service.
"These are the faces of Islam in America,” the president said.
