Ever been "Sergeant of the Guard"?
I have, so pretty much know the routine.
One overall supervisor (SOG).
Three shifts, each shift having it's own supervisor (Commander of the Relief).
Number of guards is based on posts requiring a guard, not the number of prisoners. General rule is 6, 4 towers, 2 roving guards. But not always like this. Did guard before with no SOG, the Bn Staff Duty NCO took that job. One commander of relief and three guards. Post was 50 miles away/
