Really the word fear should have been translated to reverance, when used in phrases like "fear God". It should say reverance God.

Remember, God himself says that we have NOT received the spirit of fear, but of Love, Power and of a Sound Mind.

He wants us to "come to the throne of Grace with boldness in time of need". How can we be bold in our requests/prayers to God if we fear him?

I believe fear is what you feel in the absence of God in your life. In other words, we should fear the absence of God, not God.

The Judgment Seat

I wanted to help shed new light on this subject. A lot of religions try to scare people into worshipping God by telling them that they will be judged by Him after they die. As if God will punish you for doing anything bad in your life. This is NOT true!

The word judgment seat was translated from the Greek word bema (pronounced as bayma). Bema was a platform they stood on in order to receive an award during an award ceremony - similar to our current day olympics ceremony where we hand out the gold and silver awards. The winners stand on the "bema" to receive the reward.

If you read the text carefully as shown in the pics, you will see that all the things you have done in your life that did not line up with the word and will of God are burned, that's it. They are burned, never to be seen or mentioned again. All the good things you have done in your life that were according to the Word of God, you will receive rewards for. (I Cor 3). So, as a born again Christian, every time you make a decision to sin you miss out on a heavenly reward (this is the loss you will suffer) that you could have received had you decided to walk in love instead.

There is so much more to this, but the point I want to make is do not fear God. Fear only the absence of God in your life. There is no fire and brimstone awating a born again Christian, it is a reward ceremony for all the good things you have done in your life.

Yes, absolutely, it is a mind fuck!

The Catholic Church would not exist if everyone simply turned to God right? Why would you need the church then? That was their fear, that they would lose control of the people, no control, no money! God is not about fear and control, He is about Love and Peace and Freedom!

Right, but I believe this is the time when more will come to the light and believe. Once they see the other side, they will see more clearly and want to be saved. If you want to lead somone to be saved, just take them to Romans 10:9 & 10 - it is that simple!!

The same thing happened to my brother, he said if this is God, then I am an atheist. But while he was in college he got witnessed to by some Christian believers and they showed him the true God and he believed and became born again. Actually, he then brought the good news to me and my younger brother and that is how we became born again.

That is what "man made religion" does to man - it keeps him away from God. But the one true God and His true Word speak of love, peace, forgiveness, righteousness, no condemnation, etc.

You are only filtering out the good news of Jesus Christ brother! Don't turn your back on goodness and love!

Somehow, one day, you will be reached also and you will be so thankful! God's word never comes back void, it always accomplishes that which it sets out to accomplish!

God forbid! I'm not condemning him, I am merely saying he has not opened his heart to the word of God. I am praying for everyone here to accept Christ and be born again and be saved. This is God's will and I line up my will with God's will.

I'm just asking him/her to not turn their back on God's word by filtering that's all. But that is ultimately their free will decision to make.

>The Gentiles fulfill the law, knowing not the law.

What you are referring to here is in Romans right.

It is talking about who the law was written to. The law was given to the Jews, not the Gentiles. They were fulfilling the law, knowing not the law - meaning it was not given to them to fulfill, yet the fulfilled it.

The law was only given to magnify man's sin. It showed man that they cannot redeem themselves fully and had to keep returning to the law. But Christ fulfilled the law for us completely, so that we no longer need the law. If you read Romans you will more fully understand this. It explains it completely, but you really have to take the time to read it. The O.T. is for our learning, but the N.T. is for our doing.

btw - as the bible says, the only way you can worship God is through Spirit, not by works. We are saved unto good works, not by good works - it's by Grace, not by works!

Interesting that you are only quoting the O.T.

Okay, then what about thisโ€ฆ.

[1Jo 4:16-18 KJV]

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

If you are fearing God, then you do not fully understand the perfect love of God. If God is perfect love - Agape, then why fear that? Yes, I would be in fear if I did not have God in my life. It is the absence of God in our life that we should fear.

When we walk away from God and sin that is when we are in fear.

In the O.T. times it was not available to be born again of Holy Spirit. So yeah, they "feared" God if you will. Holy Spirit was put upon men for only a certain time period so that God can communicate with them.

Remember what happened to Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God and the Spirit in them died (remember God said you will surely die), the first thing they did was to hide from God because they were afraid all of a sudden.

We (the Church of Christ) who are born again of Holy Spirit, with God in Christ in us, have nothing to fear, especially not God our Heavenly and loving Father.

Right on! Sorry! I get carried away. Was just responding to one post, then replying to another, and anotherโ€ฆ

Waiting on Q! Will post in the prayer thread.

The thing is though, a lot of people here do not go to the prayer thread and sometimes you want to help them out by giving a little more clarity and truth from God's word.

Love & peace out!

Happy Q Year!! :)

What???? Where do you get that from?

Anyway, if you are not reading the Epistles, then you are really missing out in the truth of what it means to be a Christian.

[2Ti 3:16 KJV] 16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The epistles (Romans thru II Thess) follow this pattern of Doctrine (Romans), reproof (Corinthians) and correction (Galations), then again doctring (Ephesians) and so on.

Why? "โ€ฆfor instruction in righteousness".

Each book is specifically addressed to the Church in Christ, the born again ones. If you are ignoring these books and just skipping from the O.T. to Revelation, then you are not getting the good news of Jesus Christ and what it really means to be saved and born again of Holy Spirit. If you are still following the law or just the O.T., then you are ignoring what Christ accomplished. Sorry, but that is what I know to be the truth - the entire word of God.
