I believe the US ballistic missiles use inertial navigation (gyroscopes) to guide them. This is more difficult and heavier than GPS guidance but much more reliable. It would be too easy to disable our missiles if they relied on GPS although we may also have GPS capabilities in them

 

If NK missiles are not equipped with inertial navigation and rely solely on the Iridium satellites to guide them we could easily redirect them by sending bad location info to the in-flight missiles.
