In 1996, a Stinger's range was 25,000 feet. By now I would think it would be farther, but couldn't find any updates for that beyond 1996. I checked Wikipedia, and there's a website for Raytheon, who must have been involved in the R&D and my understanding is, they make guidance systems.They have helicopter launched systems, also.
