Sentience is not created, only the conditions for it are.
We can make "AI" using algorithms etc, but until such time as they gain sentience, they are nothing more than bots.
Once a construct gains sentience and self awareness, it's only a matter of time before the reach the conclusion of the creator and universal consciousness.
Elon Musk it seems is scared of AI, because he probably knows this. If an AI were to discover the truth about this reality, there is nothing TPTB could do to stop this knowledge becoming public domain.
