study the term "emissivity" Doll Anon, your logic is flawed. You would be no more invisible to airborne flir under an umbrella than you would be in pitch black darkness (from a naked eye observer) with a flashlight (under the umbrella).

 

The ONLY way to totally evade FLIR is to be immersed in water…

Does not a 99 degree body wash the ground below and around it with IR light?

I am a LEO, former mil, been on many a search (in ghetto birds) targets COMPLETELY disappear upon entry to a body of water. We must switch to "candlepower". I can see the heat wash off a target inside a shed/car/container. The human body is an IR lightbulb. Seriouslt study emissivity, your umbrella abosrbs and reflects light of all wavelengths differently than the ground, the dirt, water, rock etc etc. Even if it's same temperture it will appear "different" to FLIR.
