China's yuan is not pegged to the USD, although the Hong Kong dollar continues to have the soft peg it maintained during British control of HK. Everything in HK is staying more or less the same but after 50 years the "high degree of autonomy" promise expires and it reverts to being a regular part of China I guess.
It was the Brits, and the Americans who became the Eastern Establishment who are associated with the Opium War. China already took back HK Island after the lease on Kowloon expired in 1997. They marched their troops in and sent the Brits out rather summarily at the handover ceremony.
China cares much more about Taiwan now. I am not sure quite why, but Chinese all over the world want it "back" whether or not it was a part of China before.
The tension between Jews and Russia goes back much before 1917. Read "200 Years Together", certainly not a Jewish approved text, to get a sense of that history. Now Putin talks nice but he's the center of world antisemitism. He's the support behind Iran and in turn the constant issues with the stone-age Palestinians being able to keep throwing rocks at Israel and blow up buses there.

Maybe peeps will come back tomorrow. We all need a good night's rest, and responding to some of the current nonsense (I've proved it nonsense to my satisfaction) is a waste of useful energy.
Some of us have been around in various places and know how quite a few things work. But if you don't think this board is productive, contribute in a way you find more productive. Maybe your contribution is needed most elsewhere.
