North Korea can get off one nuke before they are nuked themselves. It would be more disruptive for them to detonate the nuke in the upper atmosphere and cause widespread, extended power outage than to nuke a specific city. Less could go wrong, their target is much bigger.
You shouldn't travel over Christmas, and you should have you emergency supplies stocked and your batteries and electronics in a faraday cage (metal trashcan or other metal enclosuer)
