Please pray for my father. He has had a genetic heart condition all his life. He is now at the age of 58 and has been rapidly degrading in health, right before our eyes. He has really bad fluid retention, and very poor circulation.. his feet are hugely swollen, his cheeks and earlobes are a dark purple colour which gets worse when he laughs.

He's got great doctors, and landed with a doctor who is the lead researcher in his particular heart condition in our country. They've suggested he has a trial heart surgery soon.. there is usually a 6 month waiting list, but his doctor will be trying to get him in early as he doesn't have 6 months left otherwise. This is a 4-6 hour surgery where they scrape away dead parts of his heart and restitch what's left, in hopes that it will have an easier time pumping blood. It's a fairly successfuly surgery in extending life, and he'd gain perhaps 5+ years of extended life. However, his body has always struggled with being put under anesthesia, particularly for long durations, and his body is already very week. If he can make it through the anesthetic and wake up okay, then he will live a few years longer.

I only ask for a few years longer, because I would really like to see him alive to meet his grandchild. My fiance and I are getting married in March, and shortly after we will begin trying to have children. I desperately want him alive to meet his grandson or granddaughter. We've had a difficult relationship in the past, and although that is all behind us now, I need him to know that we'll be okay once he passes, that our lives have normalised, that there will be future generations to carry on the torch.

I don't know if anyone will see this, but I have come to believe in the power of combined prayer so it's worth a shot.

Please pray that my father will make it through his surgery.
