This paper overviews the Research Environment for Vehicle-Embedded Analysis on Linux
(REVEAL), which is an open standards framework for the creation and deployment of realtime
embedded and network distributed data systems. REVEAL is an ongoing project at NASA Dryden
to evaluate the feasibility and benefits of using Linux in a modern generic web-enabled data system
for measurement and telemetry network research, by actually building such a system. Novel features
are described, such as XML based self-configuri
ng, self-verifying and self-documenting software,
and automatic XML metadata generation. The REVEAL architecture is described, including the core
server and scheduler, and the management of system and user job processing. Performance, timing,
determinism, and security issues are discussed, as well as the advantages and limitations of Linux.

It sounds insane, but the other day I got lost so bad I spent 3.5 hours trying to find my way back to my family, after going to the gas station, and heading back to a place where I knew how to get, in a city I am familiar with. Every turn lead me further away until I was screaming bloody murder in frustration, because it didnt make sense.. I was a couple miles away, knew where I had to get to, knew all the possible ways to get there but every time either "what the fuck where is the turn" or it was blocked and I couldnt get there. Until I wound up in a fucking suburb completely lost not knowing where I was let alone which direction to head. I have never been lost in my life, not once.. It doesn't happen. I started getting fucking terrified that I was trapped in some fucking alice in wonderland kind of labyrinth.. people I asked for directions didnt know what I was talking about, all roads lead the wrong way, every single thing I did to solve this problem made it worse. When it started to sink in that "I dont know whats going on with this Q stuff, could this be what he was talking about?!" and "I left my wife and child at a place called sapphire falls… oh christ what the fuck what the fuck" I had only one choice.. Pray. I prayed harder than I ever did in a way I never knew was possible. And I was where I needed to be 3 turns later. Not exaggerating in the slightest. It was the scariest trial I have ever encountered.
