They manage to "recruit" because we humans are easily drawn to a teaching which says anything goes (do what thou wilt) and infers that we can evolve to enlightenment by embracing relativistic truth and morals, along with seeking "godhood/christ consciousness" via ever more knowledge (of good and evil). It's the oldest trick in the book.
The whole "island visiting philosophy" they embrace looks a lot like a fulfilment of prophecy:
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears…"
If you'd stayed in the cult long enough or become a high enough "adept", what you would have found out about the penultimate philosophy and practices - which one would hope, would have left you convinced that there were no redeeming features. Just an onion layered mass of "alluring" deceptions drawing people in via a "wide path", with a core of evil at the very centre.
We don't want to redpill people with "illumination" for interest's sake - we want to wake people up with the truth revealed by Q and the keystone massive, so the dark cabal are exposed for what they are, disempowered then destroyed, and the victims can be freed to live a life of peace and joy.
