The center will be hosted by the University of Chicago and will be located in Jackson Park on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. The center will not be part of the presidential library network operated by National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).[3] The nonprofit Barack Obama Foundation was established to oversee the creation of the Center and the construction of its campus.
