As I understand it, this is the right idea BUT you only need to change the pixels slightly, so a 5-10% colour change should do it.
It shouldn't need changes noticeable to the human eye.
I'm not completely sure though.
I DO KNOW that 20% of the surface area must change for it to beat the current algorithm. So a large chequered pattern would work nicely if I am right. Just change the chequered colours every time but keep it very faint so others can continue to change the changed meme at their own workstation for their own use.
Or, divide the meme by 5 and colour one of the 5 sections a faint white or black. That's a 20% change.

I have used your original meme and added 5% of the top colour (See the screenshot of the sample squares in photoshop.)
I chose that colour for a previous meme I was working on. It doesn't matter which colour, you just have to change the pixels. This overall surface area change is a 100% alteration and keeps the meme usable for the next person.
