40,000 Ft Overview of Baking

BAKING on QR/QRB has three parts:

  1. Creating a notables list

  2. Baking the bread

  3. Making dough changes/repairs

1. Creating notables list (bun)

Best done during a slow shift. QRB is currently much slower and so a good place to start baking. Asking anons for feedback ("Anything left out?") when posting notables helps things run smoothly. Start by looking at other bakers' buns to get ideas of what to include. No two bakers are the same; each has his own style, you'll develop yours over time.

2. Baking the bread

This involves 3 tasks:

(a) consolidating old Q posts and notables buns to make room for new ones

(b) creating a new thread (bread) and adding all the "dough" posts at the top

(c) generating a new pastebin for next baker

Start by practice baking in /comms/ where you shadow what the baker is doing "live." Baker can check your bake and give feedback if you want. https://8ch.net/comms/catalog.html

3. Making repairs/changes to dough

Dough changes take a little longer to learn, because there are different tasks. Some things like misnumbering the bread or a typo in the bread title require BO/BV assistance but most changes can be made by the baker. You don't need to know how to do everything at once. There are always bakers or oldfags around to help. If you can't figure something out, you can post a request for help from lurking bakers or leave a note at the dough post for the next baker. It works out.
