'''HOA Fines FL Congressional Candidate for âLetâs Go Brandonâ Christmas Light Display
Each day he keeps the display up, he is fined $150'''

Itâs Christmas meets politics in a beautiful âLetâs go Brandonâ light display in Florida. The Christmas lights display is at the home of Martin Hyde, a former professional soccer player and current business owner, and a Republican who is campaigning against the stateâs 16th congressional district against current Trump-backed Representative Vern Buchanan.
Each day he keeps the display up, he is fined $150, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Hydeâs display caught the attention of his homeownerâs association which the Tribune reports sent Hyde a âfriendly reminderâ that signs arenât permitted and then âdangled the possibility of a $150-a-day fine if he doesnât comply.â
Each lit letter is nine inches tall, sitting on his second-story balcony of his Sarasota home above an American flag light display and next to an inflatable Santa Claus. âItâs fully in keeping with my personality and my campaign,â said Hyde. âAnybody who doesnât like it, itâs one streetâŚdonât come.â Hyde said, âdid I know it was provocative? Absolutely. Did I expect it to take on this level? No.â
âIâll take it down when it suits meâ says Hyde, who has been endorsed by Trumpâs first national security advisor, Michael Flynn. Hyde also hired Roger Stone, a former Trump advisor, as a campaign consultant.
Hyde, who is a Trump supporter, has said he will keep the display up through Christmas regardless of HOA fines posed on him. âThey may well fine me $150 a day. Itâs not really a terrible concern to me. I will take it down when the holidays are over. Iâll take it down when it suits me.â
